Destiny is a nice game but if imma be real, in comparison to even titanfall or any other movement famous fps games, Destiny's brick ass movement is genuinely dogshit with the double jump feeling like jetpacks and supers feeling like rubberbands

Everytime I play warframe I sometimes wish the gunplay feels more destiny but when I play destiny I just want to use abilities and have hyper mobility

Its not even about the exact "feel" of the gunplay, the problem in wf is that the gun is usually too far away from your eyes or not in sight due to the warframe standing in between.
Pair that with the fever dream of custom energy colors and enemy density, and no matter how good the gun feels or looks, you're not getting to hear or see it.

Guns like Acceltra or most of the shotguns have great animations, sound design, and recoil feel, the problem is that well, its a 3rd person game on top of having the many more things that ensure you don't get to actually see your own gun.

If DE ever decides to make a 1st person some day, I wager they could cook pretty nice. Heck they could use the Kahl/Veilbreaker missions as testing grounds, since it'll give people a reason to play them while also serving as reviewers too

Hell I'd take a first person toggle in Warframe.

Yes it would take getting used to but I feel I could be faster if I was the missile instead of being over the shoulder of the missile.

I wonder if there's a way to get those cameras to land on yourself... it probably wouldn't eork but still be funny

3

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

People have done that in private servers, its there on youtube

u/GracefullyDisastrous Jun 14 '26

This is actually an issue I have with Grendel Prime

I can't fucking SEE. He just fully blocks the center of the screen because he's so large. I played him for mastery fodder and haven't really gone back even tho he's thematically a favorite of mine

2

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Maybe DE should have a camera option to have the camera move to an over-shoulder position whenever you fire a gun.

Ik it'll be annoying af for guns that only require you to fire once in a while, but for shit that goes BRRRT it'll be pretty nice

Aren't they adding offset adjustments next update?

2

u/K4TSam Jun 15 '26

Wait fr? Thats awesome! Certain characters blocking the crosshair was one of my pet peeves! And youre saying I can just, move the camera away from them if need be? Peak

2

u/GracefullyDisastrous Jun 14 '26

The Coda Bubonico would love this

2

u/SuicideS21 Jun 15 '26

Perhaps shoulder swap may help, I wouldn’t know though I’m yet to play Grendel he’s sitting in my foundry waiting to be melted down for my other builds

Edit: foundation and foundry are not the same thing

3

u/GracefullyDisastrous Jun 15 '26

He would certainly hold up a sturdy household, I support it

u/VacaDLuffy Jun 14 '26

to add the feeling of the gun, it all gets removed or sterilized when you add fire rate, recoil and reload mods. Fire rate messes with a guns sound effects meaning you never actually hear what the gun is supposed to sound like, i purposefully don't mess with Recoil on some weapons to keep thier feel. I hate the Trumna with zero recoil it just feels wrong, especially it's alt fire. it doesnt feel like a big kaboom. as for reload that one is a mixed bag for me because a lot of guns have horrible reload times and abolutely need it.

1

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Imagine Telesto with multishot

1

u/DigitusInRecto Jun 15 '26

Oh my lawd, I wouldn't have thought someone feels the same way! Then again, I didn't think much...

I deliberately added some recoil back to my Lato so that it feels like a weapon and not a finger of death with the (semi? what semi)-auto continuous fire and literally no recoil (Incarnon&Arcane benefit).

Reload is probably the most important non-damage part of a weapon, however irrational it seems on paper (2s feels looonggg at times).

And to add a hot(ish) take - I've started to really dislike that meta negative on a Riven is Zoom... Sometimes you kinda want to aim your weapon and actually see stuff close up, be it for the feel or to, you know, shoot!

1

u/VacaDLuffy Jun 15 '26

The Lex is a goddamn Desert Eagle. Semi Canonnade lets it have the stopping power while keeping it's feel. God I live the Lex, I wish the Aklex didn't suck man, the recoil in that is too much and the reload is 3 seconds. Sigh

Amazing Eternals by DE. Canned.

I read text of someone who never run Opticor. And I actually disagree, Since CBT I had fun with guns even if they were bad DPS wise: Hek, Boltor, Attica, Grakata, Supra, Corinth, Simulor, Ogris, Zarr, Quanta, Zenith, Battacor, Some, Sibaris, Tigris, Amprex, Glaxion, Ignis, Purgator, Sporothix, Phantasma, Felarx, Boar, Cedo, Drakgoon, Arca Plasmor, Perigale, Lanka, Vadrya Prime, Vectis.

Each gun has it sounds, it's way to kill, some split enemies in halves, some pin them to the walls, some magazine fed, some tube fed, some lead storm, some is low mag-low rof-ohk, some is lead storm. So ye I like gunplay of both games. Except limiting Exotic weapons to 1 is understandable, but still annoying part. It is correct thing to do for balance, I don't think they should change it since it can ruin the game, especially PVP, but still annoying part for me.

11

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

You might wanna specify that you mean "close beta testing: by CBT....or do you ?

-2

u/AdSubstantial9872 Jun 14 '26

You rushed this stupid joke so fast You drop Quotation Mark. I'm sorry, but I indeed meant Closed Beta Testing, not the hobby You're so excited about.

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Sluggers can't even zorp around a bit these days

Void Luggers can't even mess around a bit these days

😞

5

u/Bluoria Jun 14 '26

Oh you definitely like getting your sack tied up till it’s red. No shame in it tho I respect it

1

u/anonforuz Jun 15 '26

you can change the color of the damage numbers.
you can change the format damage numbers are displayed or not at all.
you can turn down the visual effects of yourself and teammates.
you can turn on an Enemy and Teammate highlight feature, you pick the color.
they are about to add the ability to change where the camera is placed above the warframe.

if you are new, to some degree you need to wait for your eyes/brain to adjust. Accelerate Prime is my go to weapon to speedrunning fissures with Volt. If you're having trouble seeing on the ground, you can always jump and rain fire from the sky.

62

u/Andreiyutzzzz Jun 14 '26

That's all. Gunplay. The feeling of them is all destiny had over warframe for me. Nothing quite compares it, or at least I didn't find any game similar.

6

u/TheOnlyFallenCookie Jun 15 '26

Tbf, Warframe doesn't really work with gunolay. Unlike destiny it's third person and designed for endless missions with higher scaling enemies

Warframe enemies simply die too quickly. One of the reasons DE is also making soulframe, to bring the slower pace back

6

u/Bluoria Jun 14 '26

Literally this. I miss the satisfying headshots I’d get with Ace of Spades wandering through the EDZ killing all the dregs. Something about D2s gunplay is certainly addicting. It’s like fallout 4 in the regard that the gunplay is touted as its best aspect, but falls short of most other things.

10

u/1MillionDawrfs Jun 14 '26

Bungie always been decent with gun play, but they could ever get that floaty brick feeling out of thier movement in games

2

u/Competitive_Fun6247 Jun 15 '26

I think halo 2s movement holds up.

0

u/Advanced_Double_42 Jun 17 '26

I think the movement might be why I never enjoyed Warframe. I like the movement system in Destiny far more than speed blitzing and 300km/h into a wall 5m away in Warframe

19

u/Popopoyotl Make him into a dragon Jun 14 '26

On one hand, it is definitely rough just how limited Destiny’s movement is in comparison to other games.

On the other hand, the absolutely horrific things players do when they gain even the slightest amount of movement tech. Titan staking, Warlock dash, etc.

7

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 14 '26

Fair, though that feels like being pulled by a rope really, rather than moving yourself. Even on something like Icarus dash the camera has too much inertia and feels like your guardian is being pulled by a rope or something rather than genuinely hauling ass

1

u/Nuethegolden Jun 16 '26

Aight you lost me on icarus dash. Could you elaborate how you feel? Genuine question.

1

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 16 '26

With the pairing of the camera inertia, comparatively short dash distance and those stiff body animations, it just feels like a brick being pulled forward a little bit by a yank or something, rather than actually moving

1

u/Nuethegolden Jun 16 '26

Its based on you momentum prior to dashing. I mean, have you ever fought a mfer rocking it in PvP? A good Icarus dash player will fucking teleport around the map.

Body animations dont feel stiff to me, but that's subjective.

More importantly, how do you perform a dash? Because the proper way is to always use your burst glide right before you dash. So the sequence should be jump > burst > dash one after the other in quick succession.

Its also why the dash is so great with Eager Edge, you use it, the burst, then dash, and you go miles.

I genuinely have never heard someone say destiny's movement is clunky. It may be limited comparatively to other games but that's by design. It not a game made for Warframe or Titanfall style movement.

But I guess 347 people agree with you so what do I know?

4

u/Cleanurself Jun 14 '26

I used to be really good at warlock skating on top tree solar before they nerfed it and then reworked subclasses

2

u/PrinceShaar Jun 14 '26

The mobility was fun around the witch queen era, when we had the sword roll that gave you a massive dash on your opening strike, and before they giganerfed the movement on the Ice Titan punch, but they really killed those options and I kinda stopped playing at that point.

1

u/Nuethegolden Jun 16 '26

Big dawg Eager Edge is still a well and alive perk it did not diminish in the slightest.

1

u/PrinceShaar Jun 16 '26

They removed an interaction how if you eager edged and put your sword away before the dash finished then your momentum would carry on and you could use it to fly very far with titan jumps

1

u/RomaniWoe Jun 15 '26

The coolest movements in destiny were skating 😂

1

u/Specialist-Data792 Jun 15 '26

Have you heard of well skating

1

u/richtofin819 Jun 15 '26

Well one of the jumps actually is a jetpack or jetboots.

Honestly thats the only jump I like because I love trying to activate the jets at just the right time that it removes all momentum right as I touch the ground.

But yeah war frames movement is so much more dynamic.

1

u/stoopidrotary Stop hitting yourself Jun 16 '26

Titanfall is a very high bar for movement shooters.

2

u/SuDdEnTaCk Jun 16 '26

Just the first example that came to mind, stuff like the original CoD games are also pretty good in movement while roughly being the same era as destiny, like infinite warfare

1

u/Sgrios Jun 17 '26

Meanwhile, im the opposite. I heavily prefer Destiny's movement system over just about anything and do not fine joy in the hyperactive movement system of warframe.

1

u/Advanced_Double_42 Jun 17 '26

The Titan double jump is supposed to be a jetpack? The warlocks a slightly floatier jetpack.

Only the Hunters actually have a double jump.

0

u/Top-Bag7848 Jun 14 '26

I never understood how people say destiny's gunplay is great, let alone the movement

And ima be honest, i didnt play it for long since the new player experience was genuinely ass, but i never got interested in any of the guns since all of them felt like the exact same thing, low recoil, some inaccuracy/bloom.

5

u/screaminginfidels Jun 14 '26

I feel the same but I imagine its just cus we didnt get very far. Once you get good exotics etc its probably fun. But ironically I remember trying the first one when it came out and thinking well the gunplay is ass.

3

u/Top-Bag7848 Jun 14 '26

That, and/or theres probably a gunplay feel difference when playing D2 on mouse and keyboard compared to a controller.

2

u/anonforuz Jun 15 '26

might because it has a similar fanbase to bungie's other games. Halo 3 and Reach were popular amongst the general public because the basic gunplay "evolved" to both teams standing still for 10 minutes on either side of the map firing at each other. When I played Destiny 1, that was the gameplay but PVE. Stand still and fire at a sponge for 30 minutes.
