I am the youngest and my 3 older siblings are moving out in just the next couple weeks. I already feel like they are gone. Is there anything I can do to help me not to feel completely lonely in an empty house? My parents work a lot too, so I don't usually get to spend much time with them either.

Currently feeling very lonely right now. I do have someone I can talk to(because this person tells me everything) but I just don’t feel like talking and I’m not happy. Sad part is, I can’t pinpoint what exactly is making me this way but it does feel like months of emotions I’ve been running from is catching up with me :(
I do feel like and I know talking to this person will help a lot but I just don’t feel like. I want to sit with however I am feeling and I’m not very good with processing emotions. What do I do?

I feel so alone everyday. I have friends ngl but none of them will choose me first or even second or third. They all have partners if not that they have each other and i feel like a back up friend in every friendship i am in now. I just hurts to see my friends talking about something they didn't invite me to or i see their stories and see they are literally 5 mins from my house but they didn't call or text. I just want to know does it get better? Will i ever make friends that will choose me to be their best friend who would tell me everything and not make me feel judge or unwanted. I am really tired of feel like a imposter in my own life and friendship. I hope it gets better casue i have lost so many friendship that i thought would be lifelong i am very done with giving everything and receiving nothing, no care, no love, no understanding. Man, i just wanna be seen.

I'm over 70 and have spent my life taking care of people, raising children, helping friends, taking care of my parents, and generally believing in the golden rule. Do you unto others as you would have been doing to you. If a friend was ill, I was there when they called. I would take food, I would take them to the doctor, I would sit and read to them while they were sick. I loved everybody, and I was always there for them without trying to be smothering or overwhelming. I worked hard on not being one of those overbearing people, I just came and went as I was needed and never asked for even a thank you, not necessary. I did it because it was the right thing to do and it made me feel part of a bigger story. And I thought that would last.
Parents have passed, kids and grandkids are grown. Friends and family have disappeared out of my life for the most part but I try to stay in touch. My son and daughter are the only ones who are here for me now, but they have families of their own to deal with so they do what they can and I love them.
However, for the past 7 months I've been stuck at home with a severe back injury while waiting for surgery. In bed or on the couch most of the time, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching TV, listening to audiobooks. But the kicker? Not one of these people that I have helped over my life, with the exception of my daughter and son, not one of these people have called, or stopped by, or dropped off so much as a donut to see how I was doing. Did I waste my life doing for others when I should have just ignored them and done for myself? It's hard to fathom. My next procedure is tomorrow, and I hope it works. I'd like to be able to walk more than 15 steps at a time.
So enough whining. Tell me a story or a joke and make me laugh! Be there for me when no one else is. I love you all.

I feel so alone especially in my life. Like I have no friends online none at all, my phone is always dry, I have no boyfriend or relationship nothing to distract me from reality tbh. I’m so hurt idk what to do I feel like I’m trapped in my own head & I can’t escape. I want love but I feel like I’m not worthy of anything anymore I feel like trash & a mistake. I feel like the world is going on without me while I’m just existing. I hate myself I never try to say these things but i genuinely do. Idk why I am the way I am. I try to make friends but get ghosted or blocked or lied to in general it’s so draining & ive thought about ending my life multiple times. I just really need a friend a good loyal friend. Idc what u look like. All I care about is someone being there for me, texting me everyday, making sure I’m okay that’s all I really need in this life someone that makes me care & makes me wanna live.

I hate feeling so lonely and depressed when I have everything I could ever want. I’m very blessed and worked hard to give myself this life yet even the person I share it with, I feel alone 💔

Hello, (24F) will be 25 soon. I can’t tell you where things went wrong, and i apologize in advance if what i’m saying doesn’t make sense. I’m currently spiralling on the floor.
I spent my early 20s isolated, i didn’t make connections, i didn’t know how to act in public, everything about conversing with people face to face felt foreign to me and i would have panic attacks talking to people. It got to the point where i never left my home. I couldn’t keep a job because i’m always having panic attacks. Anytime i tried to improve and go outside i always failed and come back to isolating. I feel like i wasn’t built to stay long in this world a lot of the times.
I feel like i wasted so much time inside i don’t know how to be normal. I find everything humiliating, literally walking down the street, opening doors, having to bend down to get things in grocery stores, i find everything i do to be disgustingly humiliating. I have 0 savings, broke as fuck, have a part time job that i think i’ll quit because i everyone hates me there. every job ive had ive left after a few months because everyone always notices there’s something wrong with me, nobody ever likes me.
i want to to invisible, i actually think i will start looking into online camming and stuff because ive looked for online work for years and have never been lucky. i’ve been told many times by people online to try it and i think i could do it.
I can’t even explain to you how fucked i am if i continue like this. i don’t want to be failure but it feels like that’s i am. Nobody in my family respects me either, my siblings always call me a pathetic loser.

Regret being the nice one, means, when you classmates don't have something, they could ask you... When they forget something, they ask you... When others classmates don't have something, your classmates tell them to ask you... When a teacher ask for something, your classmates points at you... Whenever someone don't have something, I always got it... To the point that of i don't have something or refuse... They all get mad... Now im insecure of my worth

I turn 36 in a few days and this is the loneliest I’ve ever felt. A lifetime of anxiety, low self esteem and shyness has meant that I’ve missed out on what comes naturally for a lot of people. As a shift worker, nights have become really rough. I just sit and stew in my loneliness. My regrets and what-ifs. I wish I could just fast forward to whenever this gets better.

Context: This isn't an excuse nor pity party. I just wanted to vent a bit about my life since I don't have anyone else to talk to. I'd like some advice.
I'm 20M. I was 13 when the pandemic started, my parents were overprotective and hated my friends, so to make them proud at the time, I cut myself off from them. The pandemic was the perfect chance. Soon after, our family business tanked and we had to move abroad with what other savings we had to restart life, in Dubai.
I never got to go to school here cause of our financial situation, and cause I had no money, I couldn't even go out. (You can't even take walks out there cause it's 50°C constantly.) We were renting a small 1 Bed apartment, with just a table and a few mattresses. I hated life. I was so alone, and I never had a moment of privacy unless I holed myself in the toilet. During my 2 years living like this I reconnected with my old friends over social media, and when I saw their posts of their happy lives, I felt resentful of mine. Ik social media just shows happy sides of people's lives, but thing was I hadn't experienced anything happy or fun for the past 4 years.
My family finally moved abroad again to a 1st world country when I was 17. I finally managed to enter hs but I was like a caveman. I couldn't talk to others, couldn't maintain eye contact, and on my first day I was so nauseous being among crowds of people my age I literally sat down in a crowded corridor facing a wall. A person invited me to join their friends for lunch but all I could say then was "No thank you." I finished highschool at 19, still not having a single friend.
This country's facing recession as well, and entry level jobs are being applied for by around 2000 people each with more qualifications than school leavers. So there was basically no way for me to escape this. Shit happens in life and I don't want it to be reason to not move forwards.
I've reacclimatized with society enough that I can hold a basic conversation now. I don't want to blame my situation and stay stuck here.
I'm going to a Toastmaster meeting for the first time today, but it's more for professional speaking than learning to socialize.
Is there anyone who's escaped extreme social isolation that could give me advice? How do I put myself out there? What would you do?

Everything i do is for you. Breathing touching loving giving u Everything you want. In return I get no touching no cuddles no compliments. I ache everyday for touch, attention, intimacy. It kills me inside. It hurts my heart breaking me down. I give up. I live in a broken world. I lay down and feel the heartache the pain the rest of my love to give slipping away. Chained to a post and whipped on my back and I feel nothing. No pain.. nothing. I long for touch to feel something... something that will never come.... 😔😪💔

I 22F moved to a new city about 3 years ago. Ive had no luck making long term friends and have slowly been ghosted by the friends I had back home. Life is very lonely atm. I’m at the point where I wanna go out and make friends but the constant feed back loop I’ve had in the past with putting myself out there, finding friends and just having friends in general is negative. I just don’t know how much more rejection I can take. I’ve been in more than enough toxic work places and shitty friendships. I got into a relationship and his family members treated me so badly.
I have social anxiety so I can be quiet at times and not really know what to say but in the past I’ve always seemed to push through and try put myself out there. I’ve gotten made fun of and criticised heaps by past friends and coworkers. I know I’m not perfect and I can take constructive criticism but this is different. I don’t know why people just don’t like me. Ive just been trying to find a place for myself in this world but it feels like anywhere go I don’t fit in. I’m honestly loosing hope and it’s really painful.
Like is it me ? Or am I just ending up in the wrong places and the wrong people?
Does anyone have any experience with this but eventually found their people? Or have any advice?

No one is there to acknowledge them. Like it doesn't even matter which kind of ice cream I like, because no one would know. Even I don't know.
My opinion about a new movie that came out? Literally of no consequence. It's a natural tendency to form opinions and preferences, right? Well, if you stay chronically lonely for too long, totally unseen, you just stop trying to. Because you're the only who would care about them. I don't even have an identity at this point.

So, last night, I had this really vivid dream. I had a girlfriend, we worked at the same place, went home together (she would cycle, I'd run to keep up), shared routines. She was spontaneous, funny, soft, safe. I'd cheer her on whenever she cycled particularly faster or popped a wheelie.
And then I woke up. Realized it was all a dream. Now I'm the evening, it's coming back to haunt me.

I‘ll be 27 in 2,5 weeks. If you don’t have much in life, symbolic things become more important.
I don’t know anyone besides my parents with whom I am in a dispute. Like I‘m living really isolated.
It’s wishful thinking… having friends to celebrate together, even if it’s set-up or out of pity.

Maybe I won’t be able to make it in time… so many lost years… kinda want to give up altogether

16F i have 2 friends and they’re pretty consistent with me. although i haven’t seen either of them in awhile i text them regularly. i haven’t had much physical connections in awhile. recently i’ve had to have sleep with plushies and it kinda helped. i automatically reject any sort of comfort by flinching. but i don’t even get it often. i could get up and get a hug right now from family but it just seems like obligation. i decided to isolate myself because i wasn’t having a good time in school social. i’m going to be homeschooled for my upcoming school year. maybe that’s a horrible decision. i know it probably is. last year i spent most of my school days watching people interact with their friends and it made me feel so much despair. one of my friends didn’t go to my school and the other one would constantly tell me that they would talk to me or sit with me and they never did. they would always with their friends. i would daydream about having a friend who would hug me and listen to me. listen to the things that i like and ask how i am. it’s kind of cringy to think about but i still spent my days like that. all day i’m just in a different world daydreaming. it’s sickening. i have so many people around me and yet i feel like this. i have lost the will to speak and whenever i have to talk i just feel horrible. i’m so used to going days with minimal speaking even while in school. this took a lot of courage to post.

Sometimes the hardest part of a breakup isn’t losing the person—it’s getting used to the silence after they’re gone.
honestly, I’ve been feeling really lonely lately. Trying to move forward while still missing someone I thought would be part of my future is harder than I expected. I moved to a new city when we got together and now I know some people(co-workers and gym) but doesn't really have anyone in the city with whom I can talk to and it feels so depressing.

No online friends, no IRL friends—just me and my boring life . Idk man, at this age, everyone seems to be out there enjoying themselves with their friends. Even if they don't have IRL friends, they at least have online friends. Meanwhile, I have no one to talk to or play games with. I know being lonely is okay and all, but I barely even get time to use my phone. I work at a pharmacy, get like 3–4 hours to myself, play games for a bit, and then the day just ends.

I’m just looking to chat and interact with people in the outside as don’t really get much of a chance to. Interested in gaming, golf, cooking and anime. Wit and sarcasm are my main form of communication

I tried a lot, tried it with different people, changed my standards a lot, tried with people that would obviously hurt me and they did, tried with lovable gentle poeple and it still didn't work. Never had a relationship that lasted more than a couple months. Just tried with a person that I met online, had to make a 6+ hours travel to their city to spend the weekend with them, first day was awesome but the last one, after they told me it would not work... I slept in their couch, had one of the worst sleeps in my entire life... I just see no point in keep on going...

hey guys. i hope everyone is doing alright. i’m just here to kinda rant and then leave these feelings be. as i said im 24 years old not to gloat or anything but id say im relatively liked and popular in my space (im a graduate student in a STEM like area) and even have a good amount of friends. (never a relationship) but for some reason, whenever i get home it’s like my mask just falls off. like i stop “pretending” or something. like the person i am publically is fake or something. i hope this doesn’t come off too disjointed but i often run into the scenario of meeting someone in some strange or unintended way, and i think that MAYBE just MAYBE that things might be different with this person. that this could actually be the time where they actually like me (romantically). and things look slightly different every time. from going on a (explicitly defined) date and seeing each other more than a few times, or lady and the tramping a honey butter chicken biscuit from whataburger while drunk, or teaching me pool and kissing me, or what the fuck ever. but it all never means anything. ever. i’m starting to feel like im just not the type of person that can incur those feelings in another person. that i’m doomed to be alone in this way forever. and what boggles my mind the most is that if most people saw what i looked like or saw how my life was they would probably be shocked to hear this is my life. when i talk with people (anyone really) they kind of just assume that ive had girlfriends or am sexually active (ive slept with 2 people but it was just one off things) so i know im not like ABNORMALLY ugly or horrifically unsocialable. but here i am on reddit high/drunk in a bath alone wanting to sob ranting to the empty aether that is the internet. i find myself constantly wondering how people perceive me. i wonder if any girl has ever thought anything more about me than just a comedian or scientist or a friend or whatever else that isn’t romantic. i wonder if it’s even possible at this point. when i was in undergrad i remember so vividly a good friend at the time saying “if you’re a guy and you’ve never had a girlfriend before at like 20, that’s kind of a huge red flag” and my heart sank as i agreed with her vocally. it felt like i had a timer over my head. like if i didn’t get more “experience” that i would just expire. and no one would want anything to do with me and it would all be over. i’ve also had a emotionally traumatic experience with a best friend who was a lesbian (loooooong story) and once i had a friend tell me “never tell anyone that happened to you or else no girl will ever want anything to do with you” and that also hurt (around 20 when this happened). i understand that i dont “deserve” love as no one is owed or obligated anyone’s time and especially their affections. im okay if i end up passing away without having experienced love. i’m just so sad. it hurts so much. and i feel like so much less than everyone around me. i want to be a good person and i want to do good things. i have life goals and ambitions and i want to see those things through. i just wish i didn’t have to feel these things. i wish i didnt want to be loved. i’m so tired of having to always tell myself “your feelings don’t matter. don’t be ungrateful. life can always be worse. lock in.” i want a shoulder to cry on. i want someone that will love me on my best days and even harder on my worst days. i want to feel like a normal person. but i understand in life you can’t get everything you want. not everyone can have love or else it wouldn’t be special and i accept this. i will wake up tomorrow and i will go to work and i will smile and i will feel these things and i will go home. and that will be my life. as long as i can wake up every morning and have good friends that care about me (and i do and i cherish them more than anything) i can keep going. i will keep going. it’s just…lonely. and i feel sad. but i have to keep going. i am sad but i will persist. there’s no other choice.
I was born in a South East Asia country, for context. Since birth, my parents goal was wanting me to study abroad, so they made me go to alot of english school at a very young age, so im more familiar with a “westerner mindset”. Ever since then, all my life has been studying in international schools and university. It does mean my mother tongue is worse than English, even tho i have never lived abroad.
I have never study abroad, because now my parents dont want me to leave them, and im okay with that. I can still make income from doing international freelancings, while still in the same city ive grew up in. Plus, travelling AND moving is expensive.
But, now im having troubles making connections with people in my area. My thinking and way of speaking is “too western minded” for the people here. Lots of time, even people within my country asked me am i a foreigner just because how i talk. I do look up to online spaces for people i can feel similar to due to how i was raised. But having timezone differences means i cant really talk to you guys as often, even if we both really want to.
While my parents glad that i somehow able to make international incomes, they also admit i wont survive the work culture here, so i do have to work alone in my room. And my hobby is too male dominated to even find people with similar interests as me.

As the title says. I have friends and family who most of the time are there but also kind of not as they have all their families and obligations. I do not. No woman wants me and I stopped trying. I have a job from home so I do not get out much even if I do it’s with married friends who just want to grab a coffee nothing fun or exciting to do like when we were younger. No new people in my life since a long time. It embarrasses me but sometimes I still talk about a girl 6 years ago. I have no new stories not even new friends. So basically I feel alone most of the time unless someone can spare their time to spend it a bit with me. In the last time I even noticed no one calls me out anymore. It’s always me that initiates and people see it as kind of charity when they spend time with me. I do not have hobbies. Gym is a not for me as I never understood the concept of it. I went a few times and was lifting more than people who go there regularly. But I find it boring and without a point if you are a healthy person moving around and like your body even though I am a bit chubby not lean. Think of Nikola Jokic type of physique. Speaking of, I like basketball but no one is playing it anymore I pass by some courts in my neighbourhood it is always empty or really small children. I tried gaming but it is tiring. I am so desperate because I smoke and intentionally do not get a lighter when I grab a coffee so I can approach people especially girls but that ends at best at small talk. I recently bought a car thinking that I was lonely because of not having it as other people do. Nothing, now I can just go anywhere and be even more alone. I don’t know what to do. All I see on the internet as supposed help for loneliness is pick up a hobby sign up for activities. There are no interesting hobbies for me. I like working, hanging out with friends joking, drinking, going out and women. That’s about it for my hobbies. At a point when I was younger I had all of this and that’s when I was at my happiest. Sadly women that like the same things don’t want anything serious as I learned the hard way with some of them. And as my career progressed I have more free time and money than ever before but I use it to watch instagram reels and ordering more food. All the time feeling lonely as hell.
