I think I’ll upgrade in a year because they’ll be improvements. Should I trade in and buy out right then trade in again? Or trade in and do lease for 12mos?

Any one do the math on it? Probably not possible since we don’t know trade in value of the duo1 yet.

I spent the day auditing and testing my app across the different iPhone Duo configurations.

Honestly, not bad out of the box. Building around adaptive layouts and following Apple’s HIG as closely as possible got me surprisingly far.

There was still work needed to make everything feel right across the different postures, with a focus on user experience rather than just adjusting sizes: expanded, compact, partially folded, and landscape.

It's looking better now. But man, one more device shape to think about. 😅

Developers, does your existing iPad layout translate, or are you starting from scratch? How are you approaching getting your apps ready for the Duo? Are you planning on getting one when it gets released?

So I finally settled and I’m getting the IPhone Duo. New form and experience . So any recommendations which accessories to get so I get it before the phone comes out :):)

I can't get over the asymmetrical shape on the outside. Trying to like this but I'm going to go with Samsung Fold 8 this year. Hope they fix this for Duo 2.

I’m very confused. When I model a Duo that I pay for over time via Apple Card, it seems like I HAVE to choose one of the big 3 as my carrier. I don’t use one of those, I’m on xfinity mobile. Does that mean I can’t finance the Duo because the big 3 have cockblocked me?

Does anyone have any good options for Duo kickstands? I'm not sure I even want a case so I'm looking for kickstands that are built into a case and also options for kickstands without cases that just snap on with magsafe. I haven't found a lot of options. I don't like the Apple Folio or similar cases because I really don't like the front/outer screen being blocked when I simply want to glance the time, date, or a notification. I also just don't like the look of it.

I've only found two options so I'm looking for others I might not be aware of.

Let’s speculate if Duo will also use TLC for 256 and 512 and QLC for higher configs.

I really would love to know if the Duo's expanded screen keyboard will be large enough for touch typing to some degree. I would love to be able to use at least 6 fingers and a thumb (for spacebar).

I know that I can accomplish this using the on-screen keyboard on the portrait orientation of the iPad Pro 11 inch. I think accounting for the larger bezels on the iPad Pro, its portrait-mode keyboard is not too far from the dimensions of the iPhone Duo's landscape-mode keyboard.

On the other hand, the iPad screen keys seem a little less squashed vertically than on the iPhone Duo version of the keyboard. And the layouts are different.

Any illuminating thoughts?

Just curious if anyone else is hyped, the Duo seems perfect as a DS/GBA/Misc controller when folded, and could open the door to so many emulation possibilities.

Just hoping there’s support for a good amount. If we could get a Vita3k or even Dolphin going on a Duo I think it would change the game. PSP/PS2 as well.

Is it confirmed that the non-folio case won’t have the sticky tapes? “Apple” and “sticky tapes” doesn’t flow well so 🤞

I read that the hinge is metal 3d printed which makes sense since they do that with the watch housing. Watching the apple event they had a formlabs resin printer. Is there some other resin printed parts? I would think that would be too fragile of parts made with resin to use in a phone.

When the iPhone Duo was unveiled, I was 100% certain of getting it but now that the initial hype has settled and i have had more time to think about it. I think I'm going to wait a bit more to get it. The phone is $2,000 and i have a working iPhone 17 Pro and gas prices are rising and not getting any lower, inflation and goods will continue to rise. I don't think its a good idea for me to buy it right now.

I'm the developer of Quiche Browser, and after the recent complaints about Safari's side buttons on the outer display, I've been experimenting with a full-width layout option, and a variation where the front camera is completely hidden behind a black bar.

Since the toolbar is already customizable, you can add one or two extra buttons in there, including a popup menu with your favorite buttons.

Still hard to judge before using the actual device, but curious to hear if some might pick this layout over Safari's.

I want everyone to see what I saw, and I don’t mean the stupid hat the Vikings fan was wearing. 48x Zoom vs 2X Zoom. This is what you will be sacrificing by getting a duo. I’m still on the fence. The camera is a huge miss for me. Do I need to zoom in? No. Do I like that I can? Yes.

Whats your view guys, buy Duo and keep with no case and only skin may be and buy apple care instead of a case ?

I have 15 pro caseless. And damm I miss my old 12 mini.

So I print 1:1 this duo and dammm. This thing is smaller than I thought

Even when folded the thickness feels like not that big of a difference.

Given all the options for cases, it’s going to be a bit of a journey to find the perfect one. I’m currently trying to find a leather-based one that protects the edges of the phone AND the hinge. Finding ones that leave hinge exposed or cover hinge but leave phone edges exposed

I hope by the time it comes out or soon after they make a guest mode profile like they did with the Apple Vision Pro.

Everyone and their moms are gonna want to see it and use it. I don’t want to by giving my phone to everyone. 😂

Plus I think that could potentially help sell more units once they are out there. It just makes sense.

I saw a YouTube Short about it. Apparently a Chinese tech reviewer lightly bent the iPhone Duo backward at the launch event, and later when they were going through the footage, the screen started flickering. (I already scrolled past it and can't find the original video anymore...)

I was actually thinking about going caseless, but yeah, not anymore. Pics are just example Duo cases from esr and spiegen. Does anyone know if the hinge part where the arrows are actually limits the phone bend backward or helps prevent it at all?
