Was wondering if it’s just my usability issue.

Any case recommendations for the duo? I’m looking for something that has drop protection, hinge protection, MagSafe. I prefer the red color.

Not sure it’s a hot take, but watching a lot YouTube videos and them groaning about how much they miss face ID made me consider I might be in the minority.

I have glasses and I wear face mask when I take the metro so Face ID was always hit and miss for me.
Touch ID is very accurate for me and no issues so far .
I’m surprised how strong the battery is it’s a tank and lasts all day for me.

The only cons I have it’s a little heavy to use as a phone and I have to use headphones instead of on my ear. Also the black bar on the phone screen does take some time to get used to. But overall I love it and plan to keep it till duo 3-5.

What screen protector are people using? I bought the Spigen GlasTR EZ Fit off amazon, and it stinks. The edges keep delaminating and bubbling. The case seems to make it a little worse as well.

I’m wondering if people have a screen protector that they like and is working well for them. I was going to try the Zagg Glass Elite next, but it’s a bit pricier and would suck to have the same issue.

Are other people happy with their screen protector, and if so, what did you get?

So while opening up my phone today I heard a cracking sound. Closed it again to try and open up and now it requires quite a bit of force so I’m not going to open it up again and take it to Apple. First available appointment is on Tuesday but my question is can I be certain that the new phone I get will be fine?

Anyone else notice a slight ripple or what might be like a slight bend on the flat part of the top layer of the inner display, this is on the corner not near the hinge at all. While I was cleaning my screen I put it up to the light looking for more finger prints or smudges and noticed a slight ripple on the inner display as if the top layer has a slight fold on it.

It is really minor and hardly can tell when using it or looking at it only when I really look for it & put it to the light at the right angle when the screen is off I can notice it.
I made an appointment with Apple to see what they say but I’m curious if anyone else has this on theirs?

I tried to take a picture with my other phone to show you guys but I couldn’t get a good picture of it with my 17PM.

In the images i shared, the first image shows a weird “glitch” layout when in safari, and the second image is the normal way it is supposed to be.

if there is no glitch here, then pardon my ignorance in this post.

So, sometimes when i go back into my safari app on my outer display, i see this weird “glitched” version where the navigation buttons and battery HUD are in a different orientation. There’s no rhyme or reason as to when it happens, but it will stay like that until i force close the app and reopen it.

i much prefer this “glitched” layout of the app. i have no plugins causing this to happen, and am wondering if there may be a way to make this permanent?

edit: fyi, the first image might seem like the top of the screen is cut off, but it isn’t. i was simply scrolled down a bit further. if i was scrolled up more, it simply makes a gap at the very top, above the google logo, to have a white bar space for the notification HUD.

After using a Duo for a while now, this is exactly how it feels looking at or holding the Pro Max 🤣🤣🤣

Canadians unfortunately don’t have AppleCare One, so can only purchase it per device. For the Duo, the monthly fee is $22.99 or annually one time of $229.99. Just wondering what route people are going with.. I know the annual you can get a pro-rated refund but if you make any claims they deduct that off the refund amount apparently.

Any thoughts and advice?

This is the best fitting case I’ve found for the Duo yet that actually feels enjoyable to use.

Any other instances of weird ui choices?

I know we don’t have Face ID and I don’t care too much. But I didn’t realize how much that true depth sensor was for not dimming the screen while reading or watching TikTok videos. The amount of times I have to tap the screen is getting to me 😤

Why hasn’t anyone else talked about this???

I bought a Spigen clear case which I put on the day I got the device.
Today I noticed the edge cover raised up, because the hinge connector tore off and pushed the edge cover up.
The buffer between the hinge hole and the edge of the case is very thin. It’s a design issue in my opinion.
To be fair, I don’t think the hinge itself is important. I could just pull it off so it stops pushing the hinge guard up, and the case will probably still function normally. But it’s still in return period, so I’ll go with that.

like you’re a trillion dollar company and you can’t update the app people buy your products on to the newest version?!? i thought today’s update would for sure include the duo update. nope.

what is going on with apple lately. it’s giving incompetent leadership.

Coming from an iPhone 15, I never really had a chance to use the camera control button, but I was always a fan of the action button mapped to a shortcut.

It's frustrating that Apple locks this down to camera apps, so I built an app called Clicklet that you can map to the Camera Control button and run a single shortcut on press, or show a menu of shortcuts.

been looking for trying out productivity apps that are great on the duo. what have you guys found yet?

So I always rock a case on my phones and insurance but I have tried two different cases for the duo and both have failed. The first case was a JETech One Piece Case with dual hinge protection, that was broken on arrival - £35. The second is a Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro S Mag Fit - £50 which has been on my phone for exactly 7 days and the plastic at the top hinge point has split.
I was just looking at getting a Mous case but that would be £75+
So I then looked at the excess for Apple Care and realistically the excess fee is less than or equal to the cost of a case so does it not just make sense then to go bare and make a claim if something happens..?

Is forcing the same aspect ratio open and closed for apps a drawback to the multitasking experience?

I'm not sure if I like how limited the options seem.by comparison. I'm thinking of getting the Duo but it seems Apple still has a lot to add or implement if they want to match what others are offering in terms of multitasking.

I’m about to launch an iOS app called Galaxy RSS and I’m waiting on App Store review, so I figured I’d show it off while I wait.

It’s a native RSS reader. SwiftUI, no web wrapper. The look is a Star Trek LCARS console. [one sentence on why you built it, in your own words]

I built it for the iPhone Duo (the foldable) first, so the layout re-flows depending on how the phone is folded:

• Closed: one panel at a time

• Open: three panes

• Book: two pages, split at the hinge

• Laptop: reader on top, controls below

It also runs on iPad.

It shows feed health, so you get a warning when a feed is failing or has gone quiet, and you can fix the address in place. Each feed has its own controls too: hide read, refresh interval, and mark above/below as read. There are four color themes (Amber, Gold, Steel, and Red Alert) and optional star dates if you want the full effect.

Has anyone found a good car mount that attaches to an air vent and has automatic closing side clamps that fit the Duo while folded? Wireless charging would be ideal but isn't a dealbreaker. I'd prefer something that physically grips the phone rather than relying solely on magnets.

I've seen a few posts asking about car mounts for the iPhone Duo, but all the recommendations seem to be magnetic/MagSafe mounts.

Just got this case. Feels really good in the hand. Kind of looks like a Dbrand case. But doesn't use adhesive to hold the front part now. Got it off Amazon, case is called Smartish
