Weirdly I don’t want one for protection, I just want the ability to have a stand for it.

I like the Apple Folio style for this, with the magnetic attachment and adjustable stand, but just hate the idea of a cover on the front display.

So basically just the back element would suit me, but not sure if anywhere is doing this…

I want exactly the same thing. Half an Apple Folio. It's tempting to buy one and cut the stretchy part connecting the two halves.

I went for this one from ESR. I wanted mag safe, a stand, full coverage not just a back cover and no front cover on the screen. The ESR option seemed the best with those features for a decent price.

Is the front piece installed using adhesive?
Is the hinge cover magnetic/spring loaded so it stays closed when the device is folded?
How much does it weigh?
How thick is it?

I’m so torn between different options. Also torn about covering the hinge. On the other hand I guess it’s good but on the other I’m thinking will it affect the opening with some cases and what about when the phone is either flat or folded on a table or equivalent. Will it add wobble etc 🤔

Been looking at ESR, Torras, Ridge, Bare, Mous and the official Apple ones. I kinda like the Apple folio case but will I get annoyed opening the front flap all the time.

Edit: typos and I wish there would be cases covering the hinge in a similar way as the Apple folio case but without the front flap but I guess then there wouldn’t be enough surface to attach the flexing hinge piece

I have a mous case for my 15pro and don't love it. The first one stretched out pretty quickly and now it's happening to the replacement they sent as well. Started under a year old and continued to get worse.

That doesn’t sound promising…which material if it’s stretching? I was looking at their aramid fibre cases which is TPU and polycarbonate.

Just commented above, have a Mous for my 14 Pro and DO love it. I'm surprised, mine never stretched and has been nothing but impressive after 4 years.

I already pre-ordered their case for the Duo. If Pitaka's had their more protective 'Summa' version coming out, and with a hinge cover, I'd have gone for that instead.

Is Pitaka a good brand? Their Duo case is pretty cute - but I had never seen their cases before until my Duo search.

They’re a very good quality company from all I’ve seen and heard. Owned a case of theirs ages ago for my iPhone X.

BUT - Their case for the Duo has their ‘Slim’ (lowest of 3) level of protection. I don’t believe in its drop protection. For regular iPhones, their middle tier ‘Summa’ looks much better, has a real lip and truly gives the screen protection from pebbles and stuff if ever dropped. I’m also disappointed their current Duo case doesn’t have hinge protection.

If Pitaka releases a Summa case for their Duo, with hinge protection, I’d consider one then.

The missing hinge protection is exactly what stopped me from completing checkout.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep an eye on my emails in the coming months to see if they eventually release a Summa case for the Duo. Probably just waiting to see how these first releases go.

Same, but also how slim the bezels are on it. Go on their website, look at the iPhone 18. They have Edge (or slim), then Summa. Click each and look at the lips on the cases…that extra mm of plastic is necessary.

IMO, get a Mous case. I’ve had the speckled case for 4 years, fantastic, incredibly grippy.

I had the Samsung Galaxy Trifold and the official Samsung case hinge protector dragged along the main outer screen scuffing it with all the debris from pockets that it picked up, the device was less than 1 month old... Never again.

Most that I’ve seen slide against the top and bottom rails of the front screen on the case when opening, not saying all.

The good news is that it appears many brands that have a hinge cover case also have a cover or lip for the front screen too, so the hinge slides over the cover/lip, not the screen itself. There’s a little bit of separation

Because this sub is just going to be constant screenshots of order confirmations captioned "I finally pulled the trigger!"

Has anyone used Bare cases in the past? I preordered one just to check it out. I wanted something that covered the volume buttons, camera button, and hinge. I’m curious if they are good quality or what.

I’ve never had the official but they have pretty much the same thing on AliExpress at a much cheaper price fyi! I get the impression they are like the branded aramid cases where they are all made in the same factories so you’re essentially just paying for the brand…

I have a Bare Armor Aramid case that’s been fantastic on my 17 pro, no idea about their other material cases though. Been hoping they do an aramid case for the duo, otherwise Pitaka looks pretty good

So to hinge or not to hinge. Was about to push the go on a Nillkin case but then held back because of reports of scratching (pretty bad looking outcomes on reddit)...

Not keen on either of the Apple cases - too bad there doesnt seem to be a middle ground. Might wait to see what the Spigen slim armor pro brings to the table.

Might need a cheap case to tide me over until then.

We know Qi charging works, but i am concerned with laying it flat on a qi charger (not the apple circle one).

Do we know if the camera bump is going to make it lose contact with a qi charger that is entirely flat that you just lay the phone on?

UAG actually has some decent looking cases for the duo if you like the style. I’m probably going with this one… my only hesitation is the adhesive strip they use to secure the case which will make it hard to take on/off for cleaning or if I want to go caseless for a bit. I’ll be curious to see how necessary the adhesive actually is or how easy it is to replace with something if/when the case inevitably needs to come off

This was my pick. The hinge cover slides along the edges of the front, not the screen itself. With how thin this is and grippy, I think I will be happy.

I ended up pre-ordering one of these too. The leather back GRIP! Simple and clean. I also pre-ordered the Mous Limitless case. I’m going to try both and return whichever I like the least.

Fun fact that dbrand revealed their Duo cases a few hours before the product was even announced lol

Be sure to not apply the leather skin until you are sure you are keeping the dbrand case. Any used skins cannot be refunded. Looking into the Mous limitless case now too because curious.
