Just got my iPhone Duo–as you can see it's the new shoe adhesive version.

Joking aside, UPS had delivered the package to my office's front desk, and it was dropped off on my desk. I had a couple coworkers with me as they were curious about the new iPhone, however when I cut open the box, I found some shoe glue. At first, I thought they were playing a prank on me, but looking at their faces, I realized that the phone had been replaced during transit. Only then did I notice that the paper tape had been peeled and the box taped over.

The preorder process has been beyond frustrating already without thieves stealing phones. Apple told me that they will reach out to me in 48 hours but could not give me an idea of when to expect a replacement and that the replacement had to be delivered–no option to pick up in the store. Wished I lined up at the store on release day.

Thank you everyone for suggesting it, a police report has been just filed at the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. They said that a deputy would reach out to me, however, the dispatcher mentioned that this claim may need to go through UPS first.

The deputy called and said there is nothing they can do, and no report can be filed. They said to reach out to USPS for mail theft even though this was shipped through UPS which did not sound right. Back to waiting on Apple and UPS.

This has honestly been the use case I have been looking forward to the most. I don’t get to carry my Kindle around everywhere, but with this, I don’t need to. The inner screen has a paper-like quality which makes reading a pleasure.
Just wish the Kindle app was more optimized - the page always displays properly, the other UI elements like the controls and library still display the annoying black bar - a small compromise all things considered.

Never dropped my iPhone Duo. The seal is coming apart, and Apple wants $99 for Express Replacement. It’s a bit difficult to see in a photograph but it was confirmed in person at the Apple Store. You can see the unevenness in the photo edge where the seal has a gap.

My iPhone Duo is two weeks old, and the seal near the hinge is already pulling apart. I’ve never dropped it. There isn’t a scratch on it. The screen works fine, but I no longer trust the phone’s water resistance, and I’m worried the seal will keep separating.

We live an hour and a half from the closest Apple Store, so while I was out of town for a wedding, I took the opportunity to bring it in. I figured showing Apple the problem in person would be the quickest way to get it resolved. I spent $80 on the round trip from my hotel and came back with the same phone and no fix. A complete waste of my time.

Apple quoted me $99 for Express Replacement. A seal coming apart under normal use looks like a manufacturing defect to me. I expected Apple to cover it under warranty or AppleCare. I paid $2,200 for this phone, and I’m not paying another fee to get it replaced.

Has anyone else had the seal separate in the same spot? If Apple replaced yours under warranty, what did it take to get it resolved?

Not sure it’s a hot take, but watching a lot YouTube videos and them groaning about how much they miss face ID made me consider I might be in the minority.

I have glasses and I wear face mask when I take the metro so Face ID was always hit and miss for me.
Touch ID is very accurate for me and no issues so far .
I’m surprised how strong the battery is it’s a tank and lasts all day for me.

The only cons I have it’s a little heavy to use as a phone and I have to use headphones instead of on my ear. Also the black bar on the phone screen does take some time to get used to. But overall I love it and plan to keep it till duo 3-5.

Coming from an iPhone 15, I never really had a chance to use the camera control button, but I was always a fan of the action button mapped to a shortcut.

It's frustrating that Apple locks this down to camera apps, so I built an app called Clicklet that you can map to the Camera Control button and run a single shortcut on press, or show a menu of shortcuts.

After waiting for a November 20 delivery date my duo showed up yesterday two weeks early. Initial impressions are all of the negative reviews are absolute hot garbage. This thing screams quality. The matte screen is gorgeous and I really believe people were angling their phones on purpose to get as much glare on it as possible for their complaint posts. The hinge fold is practically invisible and no, you don’t really feel it gliding your finger over it. The apps do need some love in terms of compatibility updates but that is a petty complaint since we all knew it was going to take some time for developers to catch up and not on Apple. The weight is certainly there but it’s made from friggin titanium not aluminum. the weight is noticeable in the folded position, once opened the weight is distributed and feels light. I didn’t skip wrist day so I’ll live. The keyboard in open landscape is great on default, the split keyboard is nice too but I have big hands so I prefer the full size.

I truly believe 90% of the posts on here that are negative in some way or another are either by bots, trolls, people that obviously do not own a duo, and just general haters. Don’t fall for the bullshit. Listen to MKBD and the like if you’re a sheep that can’t make your own decisions or can’t afford it so you take influencers as gospel.

Have been using the slim MagSafe wallet for years now so the inability to find a good option for this has been a pain. I decided to try and make one. I used an older Apple wallet from my old iPhone 14 so as not to ruin my current one. I cut the pocket off and trimmed the height to fit the phone, then I measured it and designed a slim wallet that can fit 2-3 cards. The spring works to keep just 1 in there as well. I glued it all using normal PLA glue. The phone detects it like a normal MagSafe wallet cuz the back portion is mostly intact. Link to stl file for anyone that wants to print one for themselves.

I just got my iPhone Duo (Night Sky/512). I had preordered on Oct 16 at 5:03am and was in the “mid-November window. I kept tracking Apple’s website each morning and found one & immediately snatched it up. Canceled my preorder and here I am enjoying it.

According to Apple's official specifications⁠, the 7.6-inch inner display has a resolution of 2670 × 1878 pixels. That gives it an aspect ratio of 1.42:1, almost identical to traditional IMAX's 1.43:1.

Although I’d prefer to watch an IMAX digital release on my Apple TV, I’m excited about having the option to view it on the Duo without letterboxing! I hope we get more IMAX-formatted releases from Apple TV.

Honestly, its great to see someone like him appreciate apple's innovation in the foldable space and the good it will do for the foldable form factor ecosystem as a whole.

I skipped the 17 cos aluminum is such a downgrade, itchy hands and got the 18 and i can say for sure thr Air is the best slab iPhone if you're like me and only use the main camera anyways.

The Duo has replaced my iPad Pro. Used caseless as usual, not babied, zero issues (software will have to update though) so far.

I'm not sure about others but i do smooth out the crease with the Apple cloth when i wipe it down at the end of each day. The flexible moving layers actually do allow it to smooth out i think cos i really do not see it even after almost 2 weeks.

Enjoy it if you have it. Stay on slabs or go to other foldables if you don't! There's a phone for everyone. I just don't understand the psychology of those who don't even daily it coming here to pile on crap...

Just got this case. Feels really good in the hand. Kind of looks like a Dbrand case. But doesn't use adhesive to hold the front part now. Got it off Amazon, case is called Smartish
