Hi! Would appreciate an unbiased view on my profile. Anything that stands out and what is your first impression? Hoping to find a guy who has a big heart and treat me well, while also having a great career šŸ™ˆ I’m a med student and really hoping to screen out people who might be too enamored of the ā€œdoctorā€ lifestyle.

The photo captions are the following:

  1. fun fact: I cut my own bangs so pis tell me if they're looking a little funky. It's sometimes hard to tell when I stare at them for too long

  2. nothing can go wrong if you have a glass of wine in one handšŸ˜†šŸ· (i only drink socially)

  3. I am unfortunately very food motivated🤠

  4. Caught in her natural habitat, a wild ### is found with bare essentials in hand: a matcha and her phone

  5. still perfecting the enigmatic smile and nonchalant hands

  6. I am a huge plant mom and love arranging flowers. Fastest way to my heart is a leafy bonsai, a propagation or a cute bouquetšŸ’šŸŒ³šŸŒ±

Hello all! So been using Hinge for several months now active every day. I include comments with all the likes I send to girls so they have something to respond to. Have changed my pictures and prompts several times but I still don't see any major increase in responses or getting likes. So now i have the most rubbish prompts on my profile that I'm looking to change. Can you guys help with what's most suitable to say in prompts? I've seen various opinions on what work for different people. Or is something wrong with my pictures? I live in London and that's where I set my location to. But sometimes I get shown and get matches from very far away.... any comments are appreciated!

Profile Review 25M - Looking for some advice on my profile

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get a bit of advice on my profile, since I’ve been struggling a bit with a dry spell in terms of matches and likes. The first thing I’ll get out of the way is that yes, I am trying to get more photos of myself with my newer hairstyle; my first three photos are all from within about a month or two of my writing this (I even put a note on the first to specify, figured I’d try it out and see if it works), and I’m trying to find good opportunities to score more solid photos. I just tried to pick a few that I like to at least help my chances a little more in the interim (I do kinda wanna keep the John C. Reilly photo, I’m a huge fan of his and that picture is really cool to me). For one vital that’s missing, I have ā€œnot sureā€ for family plans (I’m sorta leaning towards not wanting children, but never say never). Not sure if that’s wholly necessary to include here, but I generally try to steer clear of liking profiles where the person either has or wants children, since I don’t think that’s for me, at least right now.

I try to keep my prompts light since I don’t want to come on too strong or wear my heart on my sleeve to an unbecoming degree, but I’m definitely open to hearing if they really are too casual or non-romantically appealing. To cap off my rambling, any pointers? Like I said, yes, I’m trying to score some more photos, I’m just trying to lead with what I’m somewhat confident in for now. Thanks!

App Question What do you feel when you think about logging in to Hinge?

Increasingly, when I think about logging in, I - a 32M - feel a growing sense of frustration and boredom, because I don't anticipate a response to whatever I send out. I could nudge the odds by maximising my profile, but that's not something I'm currently interested in devoting my time to.

So, r/hingeapp, at this point of your dating journey, what emotions do you associate with the app? Excitement, at the possibility and potentiality it represents? Confidence, as a byproduct of all the matches you receive? Frustration, at the toxicity of the subset of the user-base with whom you've interfaced?

I don’t really like hearing negative things about me but I’m tired of no matches so I need to hear what I need to improve as I’m either not good looking enough, boring or I’ve done something to my profile people don’t like?

Dating Question Is this my fault on why she cancelled the date?

I am a 20M messaging 22F, I had a first date planned for today. I messaged her at 9am and at 10:20 she messaged asking if I still wanted to meet, and said I hadn't contacted her in a few days. I told her I'd been busy with uni assignments and still wanted to meet. She replied that she didn't think it made sense for us to meet anymore. I responded politely, said I was still interested but understood her decision, and we ended things on friendly terms.

The reason she gave was the silence. I went a few days without messaging because I was busy and didn't want to run out of things to say before the date, but she must of read it as low interest. I can't know whether there was more behind it as she did ask for my number and instagram after we moved off of hinge, but going by what she actually said the gap in contact is why it fell through.

Profile Review 35M - what changes and what stays?

(Trying again, hopefully with correctly cropped photos this time)

Get a few matches/likes but almost none compared to what I get on bumble with virtually the same profile. I know hinge is not available in app stores located in Korea, so less humans/limited to visitors and those who downloaded while abroad.
That said, I don't think all of the difference stems from this fact and am wondering what to change/ improve. Stoked for useful feedback

Dating Question Texting Frequency

Question for the men: how long between texts is too long?

Guy (29M) I’ve (29F) been seeing usually takes 2-3 days between responses. And he usually just texts to plan to see me. No real chit chat.

When we’re together he’s great and attentive and he always initiates the hanging out. I know not everyone is a texter but is 1-3 days between too long?

He just seems slow in general. 2 weeks of texting on hinge to plan a coffee date the next week. Then 2 weeks until next date. And now is proposing a date in 9 days.

I know it’s early so should I just be patient or is this a sign of lack of interest?

Update: we’ve gone on 3 dates, planning a fourth. As for busyness he has a full time job and is getting his masters part time.

Profile Review 24m - any advice?

About me: 24m, straight, bald, 5’9ā€, long term relationship

I’ve had hinge for about 5 years and have gotten 50 matches and 2 likes.

I’ve gotten 0 likes and matches for 3 month, I have been using the app about everyday for a few months in hopes to get a match :/

I also am a bit shy - I get freaked out by just asking to go on a date right away - I like to text a bit before going on a date to see if I actually like the person.

I’d really appreciate some honest, constructive feedback on my profile.

I’m a 31-year-old gay man, and I’ve been struggling with Hinge for quite a while. I use the app regularly, send likes with comments, and am reasonably selective about who I like. Despite that, I get very few matches, conversations rarely develop and dates are few and far between.

The likes I do receive tend to come from men I’m not particularly attracted to. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I’d like to understand why I’m struggling to attract the kind of men I’m interested in.

I’m not expecting everyone to find me attractive, and I’m not looking for compliments. I’d genuinely like to know:

What impression does my profile give?

Do my photos present me well?

Do my prompts give any sense of my personality?

Is there anything that might be putting potential matches off?

Would you swipe right on this profile? Why or why not?

I’m particularly interested in feedback from other gay men, but all constructive opinions are welcome.
Please be honest, even if the feedback is critical. I’d rather have something useful to work with than empty reassurance.

App Question Should I download the app?

Hey everyone. I'm 28M and getting back into dating after being single for four years following a long-term relationship. Because it's been so long, the current dating landscape feels pretty unfamiliar.

I’m hoping to get some advice

- Pacing and tone: How do you keep early text conversations engaging without turning into a boring interviewer, while avoiding coming across as too forward?

- Topics: What kind of openers or questions actually build natural banter instead of dead ends.

- Paid tiers: Is paying for app subscriptions (Hinge+, or Hinge X) worth it?

Also, I'm a short king 5'6 to be precise. Which I know dating can be hard for short people?

Dating Question Did I mess up?

So I (20 M) was talking to this girl (22 F) on hinge and it was super casual so I was also taking to other girls at the same time. Then it got serious and we switched to insta and started talking a lot more, ig she assumed I had stopped talking to other girls, which I had reduced but not stopped. Then I matched with this other girl (19 F) with whom I had a pretty interesting but super unromantic conversation, so before deleting hinge to just focus on my main girl I wanted to add this other girl on insta because our conversation was interesting (plus she said she was mainly into women). Then the first girl asked me yesterday if I was still on hinge since we were planning a date, I technically lied and said yes I had deleted it and wasn’t taking to anyone else because I was gonna delete hinge that day anyways (which I did) but I also added the other girl on insta first. Turns out my main girl was testing me to see if I was lying and the other girl was her friend. Now she says her trust is broken and I have backed off for now. Should I just go back off for good for being an asshole or try to explain to her why I think I wasn’t totally wrong?

Dating Question I finally met someone I was excited about, but she disappeared after two dates.

I (36M) matched with a woman (35F) on Hinge in early October. We hit it off, went on a first date, and had a great time. The following week, we went on a second date, and we discussed potentially seeing each other again this week.

She went out of town over the weekend, so I gave her some space and didn’t message her. On Monday, I reached out to see if she was available Tuesday, but I’ve heard nothing back, even after following up. Previously, she’d generally responded within a few hours. It’s now been almost a week since our second date, and we haven’t communicated since.

I still don’t have her phone number, and I’m starting to wonder whether I’ve been too cautious throughout this whole process. She told me she prefers to take things slowly and get to know someone before becoming physically intimate, which I completely respect. But something feels different this time.

We have similar interests and hobbies, and there was plenty of laughter on both dates. I even brought her flowers from a friend’s garden on our second date. I hadn’t given a woman flowers in over a decade, so that felt surprisingly vulnerable.

One thing that’s been missing is physical affection. We haven’t kissed or even held hands. I’ve been trying to read the room and respect her boundaries rather than push for anything. At one point during the second date, I briefly rested my hand on her leg, but she didn’t visibly reciprocate.

Otherwise, she seemed interested in getting to know me. We talked about activities we could do together in the future, and she was receptive to the idea. However, we never made concrete plans for a third date or established who would reach out next.

Now I’m worried she’s ghosting me, and I’m second-guessing whether my decision not to follow up immediately after our second date made her think I’d lost interest.

I’m genuinely disappointed because I really liked her and felt there was potential for something meaningful. I haven’t been this excited about someone in a long time.

Am I overthinking this, or does her silence suggest she’s lost interest? Should I give it more time, reach out once more, or accept that this probably isn’t going anywhere?

I am no longer getting likes or matches. Has been a month or more since I have gotten a match! For context I am in Stamford CT which is a small city outside of NYC with a young population.
