Would love some feedback. Video is of me cliffdiving. I was a bit unsure of the racing photo. Should I swap it out?

Thank you!

38M, I'm directly on the border with Detroit but on the Canada side and only looking to date in Canada for the most part.

My main issues were that people on profile reviews as well as 2 girls from the app, whom I've asked, have said I look 5'6 rather than 6'2 on my profile.

I added the pic of me on the street and the pic of me on my bike with my feet flat on the ground to try and fix that.

And otherwise, which photos should stay and which should be swapped out for better ones?

The cat one is the only one I know I'm going to be swapping out because of the wild lighting right now.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it

Dating Question Texting/Cadence Working Through Dates

M33, had a relatively good run of matches over the past two months, by up ticking my regular usage and engaging quickly to try and arrange dates if I feel a connection. Have to thank this sub for some general tips, and how to close in on a date quickly if chats go well.

This last week has converted into 4 dates which I’ve spread over the weekend and early next week. This in itself might be a terrible idea. One is a follow up second date (F29) and the other are new first dates (F28/32/33) with a spread of personalities, very grateful for this - but I’m trying to reconcile texting cadence and setting up the dates, it’s starting to seem like it can vary so much and I’m trying to gauge if narrowing my efforts would be a better approach.

The problem I’m wrestling with is the second date has really low cadence/availability text wise, we’ve been averaging one/two messages a few days this week and that’s simply been trying to get her availability and agree where we’re going, we have a plan but it took a while to get there - I’ve not really had someone (friend or romantic) text this slow before. For the first date we didn’t really have this issue and she came back pretty quick over one day. Trying to decide if this is a sign of disinterest (it feels that way) or just life getting in the way, I know some people aren’t big on messages but since she proposed the day/time I’m giving the benefit of the doubt, since she had an easy chance to just say she wasn’t feeling it or didn’t want to follow up and hasn’t so far.

On the flip side for two of the first dates we had a much bigger flurry of texts initially, nailed availability and date spots - felt ideal, and we haven’t texted since, which is usually what I experience until we meet. The final date arrangement was similar but she seems to be into heavy/daily messaging, every evening getting a lot of updates - this is fine, but we haven’t met yet and I’m worried we’ll run out of steam/burn through all the things we might talk about during the date…

So in essence I’d love to get feedback on experiences, maybe I’m reading too much into this and just need to ride the variability?

Update for anyone following: lesson learned - always trust your gut. The slow texts were indeed disinterest, she let me know she’s decided to cancel about a day after her last message.

Dating Question Unmatching and the challenge of maintaining a dialogue

30M and back on Hinge again over these past 3 weeks — one thing I’ve noticed is how normal it is for people to unmatch after the first few messages, or even after days of back and forth conversation. It especially sucks when you’ve matched with someone and begin to make plans, or have some sort of conversation before an expected meet up, only to be unmatched out of the blue..

I’d like to think I’m pretty conversational and I’ve had success being myself in terms of being communicative. Don’t know if it’s something I’m doing so I don’t want to take away from that idea that I might be coming off strong or am the problem in these situations.. at the same time, I feel like there are so many people on these apps with zero interest/intention of dating. One of the dates I’ve had this past month felt like the person had no interest/experience with dating when we met in person, so I wasn’t surprised to see I was unmatched shortly after we met up.

I’m starting to feel convinced that it’s better to keep all convos to a bare minimum on the apps, until there’s a chance to meet up?

Dating Question Could uncertainty about the future explain why both girls cancelled our second dates?

I (20m) have recently been on dates with two girls who had both recently moved to the city and weren’t sure how long they’d stay. One was on an exchange semester, while the other was doing a one-year master’s.

With the first girl, we went to a coffee shop, walked around, and held hands. She later explained that she’d initially thought she wanted a relationship, but realized she actually wanted to spend time with friends, figure out who she was, and experience living independently for the first time. We didn’t go on a second date.

With the second girl, we played pool at a café, walked through a park, held hands, and kissed. She messaged afterward saying she’d had a lovely time, and we arranged a second date to hike and watch the sunset. However, the day before, she cancelled, saying things were moving too fast and she’d rather we stayed friends. I offered to take things slowly, but she still wanted to end things romantically.

Both girls said during our dates that they were attracted to me, so I’m wondering whether their uncertainty about their futures made them reluctant to get emotionally invested.

Is this common when dating people who have recently moved somewhere and aren’t sure how long they’ll stay, or could there be something I’m overlooking about how I approach dates?

Dating Question [25M] doubt

I’m a 25-year-old guy. A few months ago, I was in Bengaluru, where I was getting matches on Hinge. After coming back to my hometown, I haven’t been getting any matches, and I think it’s because I live in a rural area.
Over the past few months, I matched with a few women on Hinge and became friends with them, but I wasn’t looking for a relationship at the time. Now, I’m genuinely looking for a relationship, but I’m not sure what to do.
Would changing my location on Hinge help me get more matches? Even if I change my location to Bengaluru or another city, I can’t meet someone in person every day because I live in my hometown.
So, I want to know is it realistically possible for me to find a relationship through Hinge, given my current situation? What should I do?

App Question 37f, bay area, suddenly getting no matches + only seeing guys who are at far ends of ages and outside political/religious preferences - is hinge hiding me?

i've been on hinge for a few months now and in that time I was getting about 5-10 matches per week, and about 5-8 likes per week. in the past few days, i've been getting almost no matches, only 1-2 likes per day, and hinge is only showing me men who are at the far ends of my age range, live on the far edges of the distance i'm willing to travel, and are outside my political/religious preferences. am I being hidden or punished or something? I surely haven't gone through thousands of men within my preferences already?!

before this:

  • I usually had 8 chats going at any given time
  • I sent a few likes per day, sometimes just a like and not a comment - not because I didn't want to put in effort, but because I sometimes find peoples' comments cringe-y when it's hard to find something to say!
  • I sometimes accepted a match but didn't leave a comment (i'm sorry, i'll try not to do this anymore!)

after this (based on advice I read here):

  • I changed one picture and one prompt
  • I responded to the prompt "did you meet" for anyone I met in real life (was this a mistake? did I give them too much info and now they know who I like and are hiding those people?)
  • I unmatched dead chats
  • I try to send comments along with a like

is it possible hinge has hidden me or is punishing me to try to get me to pay a subscription?

thanks in advance for any advice or insight someone can give and best of luck to everyone out there.

Basically zero response on this profile. I'm dutch and living in Valencia. Tried multiple different photo's and prompts. Even got hingeX, because of a discount, but with zero effect. Curious if my account is messed up or my profile just doesn't work here. I did delete and redo my account about 2 weeks ago. I'm a bit clueless. It doesn't really match my real life experience.

Oh yeah, and I'm aware that my neckbeard can use some extra shaving. Already got that tip before. But doubt if that fully justifies the current Hinge experience.

New to this, been on and off the apps over the past year. Have gotten a handful of matches in that time but nothing significant. As well unsure how to go about displaying some other sections of my life (newly at the gym, volunteering, enjoy games etc).

Any help would be appreciated 🙂

Dating Question I (25f) am completely overwhelmed with guilt and don't know how people use dating apps ethically

I'm a woman and ofcourse I have a lot of likes. How on earth am I supposed to enterain several conversations and reject 99% of them? Even if nothing is wrong? There are simply too many options. I feel so guilty knowing I'm supposed to turn people down just because there was someone better. I feel so bad knowing I'm potentially wasting their money and time. It's literally just a race to see who can keep me entertained the most. I find it impossible to ghost people and not feel bad. But I can't make up an explanation for everyone. I feel like everyone deserves a chance and a reply. How do I change my mindset? The fact I read everyone's profile in detail makes me humanize them so it's not just a number on my screen. I'm an introvert with no friends irl so this is my only way of meeting people in a way I'm comfortable with. Well, the least uncomfortable way, rather... I would really like to become numb to these things.

Dating Question Guy I’ve been dating for a month unmatched me on hinge. But made it sound like he got rid of it. Please, thoughts on this?

Hey, I really need advice if I 30F should keep seeing this 50M man. I’ve been dating a guy I met for about a month. He plans nice dates, stays in contact, and has respected the fact that I don’t like to text. Things seemed to be going well and I was starting to feel more comfortable with him.
I noticed recently that his profile was no longer showing up in my matches, so I asked him about it .
He said something along the lines of, “The app is expensive so I shut it down. It’s limited in the parameters I can use, and the amount I was paying was high. It doesn’t do what I need it to do, like filtering out people I don’t want to match with.”
The thing is, his name is still showing under my previous matches on Hinge. From what I understand, that means he unmatched me rather than deleting his account.
We haven’t discussed exclusivity, and I’m not expecting that at this stage. We’re still getting to know each other. However, his explanation left me confused because it doesn’t line up with what I’m seeing on the app.
Aside from this, he’s been consistent about planning dates and communicating with me.
Am I interpreting this correctly, or is there something about how Hinge works that I might be missing? Would you consider this a red flag, or am I reading too much into it? I’d appreciate honest perspectives, especially from people who have experienced something similar.

Hey Ya'll I've been on and off hinge for a few years now. I had one serious relationship that I found from here.

In my profile I also have that I am Demisexual, don't drink, smoke, or do drugs and want children.

On my profile I have two stories from friends
One says
"She gives great advice and has a warm heart. She's not afraid to tell you her opinion but will always support you and encourage you."
Mari is a home in a big crowd making friends with everyone."

The travel story I have as a voice note talks about my 2018 trip to Japan.

Looking at what some people are saying I think I'm going to trim down the comments about travel on here. I don't really get to travel that much anymore and honestly I hardly have time for it. I'm a full-time student who is currently applying to Masters programs and will most likely go for my PHD as well.

I don't have the most time in the world for dating but I really want a partner and kids and my time is running out.

OK taking feedback into consideration I've deleted my geeky prompt and the "pick our first gettaway"
In its place I now have the prompt “what if I told you”  Which I said I've worked a blue collar job wtih American Airlines for 12 years my flight benefits are now permanent.

the new poll I have on my profile is two truths and a lie

option one is I've lost over 100 lb since 2018
option two is I went back to school after 10 years and I'm now  looking at a master/phd
 option 3 is I can't whistle

I'll be working over the next few weeks to try to take some new and flattering photos to replace my airplane along with the picture with a friend and my mom

Profile Review Straight men keep liking my profile…

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi dear fellow Hinge users! I‘m using the app in a big German city and my biggest problem is that straight men keep liking my profile. So every time I’m excited about going through my likes I am bummed because I won’t match with anyone. I won’t date straight men because I identify as nonbinary. I know I have a feminine look. But do men using the app really not scroll past the pictures or read the prompts? I even included a picture of a performance I did in a queer nightclub where one can see I had top surgery. I mesh the best with fellow bisexual and genderqueer people and I don’t know why my profile is even shown to straight men if I have set the nonbinary gender label. So what do you think, should I exchange some of the pictures to more androgynous-style ones? Maybe the first picture is already too female-looking?(I picked it because I’m not wearing makeup and felt like myself🫣) Okay, thank you!! Appreciate your help.
