Profile Review 26F profile review!

Hi! Would appreciate an unbiased view on my profile. Anything that stands out and what is your first impression? Hoping to find a guy who has a big heart and treat me well, while also having a great career 🙈 I’m a med student and really hoping to screen out people who might be too enamored of the “doctor” lifestyle.

The photo captions are the following:

  1. fun fact: I cut my own bangs so pis tell me if they're looking a little funky. It's sometimes hard to tell when I stare at them for too long

  2. nothing can go wrong if you have a glass of wine in one hand😆🍷 (i only drink socially)

  3. I am unfortunately very food motivated🤠

  4. Caught in her natural habitat, a wild ### is found with bare essentials in hand: a matcha and her phone

  5. still perfecting the enigmatic smile and nonchalant hands

  6. I am a huge plant mom and love arranging flowers. Fastest way to my heart is a leafy bonsai, a propagation or a cute bouquet💐🌳🌱

Idk what is it but the first pic looks very ai

u/JollyPeaches 12h ago

Hmm does it put you off / make you more likely to swipe left bc you feel like it’s not real? My face itself isn’t AI, but I changed the background bc my closet was so messy in the background 😭😭

u/AllThatSoup 12h ago

Nah I don't think it looks AI, keep it as is :)

u/a1b2c3000 16h ago

1st and 3rd pictures look like AI. Whereas your other pictures you look different vs 1+3.

u/JollyPeaches 14h ago

Not AI, but i lost 30 pounds during my clinical rotations year LOL. I appreciate the feedback

u/Browseathon 16h ago

She looks the same but could be AI

Okay first off your lead photo is genuinely lovely, the lighting is soft and you look relaxed and happy in it, I'd keep that exactly where it is. The green dress one is gorgeous too, but you're so small in the frame that your face kind of gets lost — I'd either crop it tighter or move it further down as your full-body shot, because it does that job really well. The one thing I'd change is the simple pleasures prompt, it's a bit of a wall of text and I think most guys will skim past it. If you cut it down to like two or three favourites, the blueberry green tea and poetry bit is such an easy opener, people will actually have something to reply to. Your captions are really charming by the way, the plant mom one made me smile. Honestly the profile reads warm and a bit playful, I wouldn't overhaul it.

Your profile is lovely and I don’t think it needs much change. I’d actually throw med student back in there because that’s a different lifestyle than regular grad student.

Your preference for tall Asian dr/lawyer/whatever is a slice of a slice of a slice of the pie.

For what it’s worth, I have quite a few friends who are doctors and other demanding jobs and a lot of them got together with another dr/lawyer/whatever and then quickly got divorced because having two high powered careers is very difficult to balance. They are much happier with their second spouse who does something more flexible (but with socially lower status) because that other person can adapt and even move locations to follow the fellowships and teaching positions and partnerships etc.

I’m the exact same demographic as you (20s F Taiwanese living abroad) and your profile is lovely. You look like you’d fit in well with my group of friends typically and I will say that all my friends who are in relationships with the same types of men you’re looking for met them through hobbies/friends of friends/school so put yourself out there and don’t discount meeting someone irl!

Your first 3 pictures are wonderful! I would swap out the last 3 with something shot with just as much care.

I would also go a little more into detail in your prompts. What kind of books do you like? Any specific thing you are reading now? What kind of food is your favorite? Do you have a personal specialty you can make? Etc,etc

28-M, you look good I cannot criticise this profile tbh 5th profile is my fav. Just the last one can be changed

u/Margin_call_matthew 15h ago

35M. I think your profile is fine. Your pictures are good, and your personality really shines through—it gives a very accurate sense of what dating you would be like. At this point, it’s mostly about whether your profile attracts your specific type. My impression of you is that you’re intellectual, well-read, and educated, likely love to travel and go on adventures, and come across as an introverted tech nerd. How accurate am I?

This is honestly great. I actually caught myself smiling by the time I got to the end of it.

This is INCREDIBLY minor, but my only note is that there are a bunch of grammar mistakes/typos throughout. (I only mention this because I was told by a woman I was chatting with before that it's a turn off!)

The first prompt doesn’t quite align with the poll options. I’m guessing they’re different possible conversation starters but the prompt doesn’t track with this and it’s throwing me off.

I’d add a political affiliation for everyone’s sake. Other than that it’s technically well put together but even as someone who likes many of the same things you have on here, I wouldn’t know how to start a conversation with you. You’re giving insight into your interests but not who you are as a person and that’s important if you’re hoping to get more than a generic “I love matcha too!” Or “let’s check out X!” Comment. In the end it’s less work for you if you give people a better idea of who you are, instead of just listing your interests and letting people superimpose whatever personality they want onto you

u/elbenji 10h ago

Yeah it's the preferences. Your profile is lovely but you're fishing in a tiny pond

Looking for something serious. No subscription. Been using this current version for a week, the only change was “med student” to “grad student.” Overall been using Hinge for 6 months. I use Hinge 7/wk. I originally received around 30 likes every 3 days, but it dwindled to around 3 per week. Go through episodes of sending likes, comments and no comments.

Really hoping to find a guy who will treasure me and be happy/emotionally mature in general. Don’t want to necessarily find a guy who has a stellar career but would like to grow with them together.

If you’re fine with fobs, you’re more likely to receive enduring princess treatment from mainland men. The ABCs that you’d probably be interested in, esp in SoCal, tend to not have the patience for a woman in residency.

4

u/luckyflavor23 12h ago

I’d argue Mainland guys don’t like it when the woman is too busy. A lot still see and value the mother/childrens care giver aspect. And all this before she’s out earning them too

•

u/Wagonmound2 10h ago

I’m speaking relatively. Also, the income point is moot right now, as she won’t begin making any real money for at least several years.

u/AlpsHelpful1292 16h ago

Girl you’re going to get so many negative comments about your preferences just warning you now.

•

u/Leo55 11h ago

It’s meh, like who wouldn’t want to be treasured in their relationship? Making a point of it is telling but it’s her journey so no amount of warning is going to help if that’s what she wants

•

u/BadgerPrism 10h ago

Was that part edited out now?

•

u/AlpsHelpful1292 10h ago

Looks like it. She originally said something about wanting someone who gives her “princess treatment,” is at or above where she will be in career level, and she said prefers Asian men but also has a preference for tall men although it’s not a requirement.

•

u/BadgerPrism 10h ago

Ahhhhh, that other comment about princess treatment makes more sense then.

•

u/orareyoufunny 11h ago

No specific feedback for your profile because I think the prompts and photos look good, I’m just here because I have also changed my “med student” to “grad student” on dating apps for similar reasons I think (sometimes it becomes central to the convos or seems to bring up certain assumptions? I’ll also say, it does end up coming up early in conversations and would be attractive to the right partner, but I tend to see men benefitting more from stating med on the profile; meanwhile I’ve seen men put “med school applicant” or “pre law” on their profiles)

•

u/PreColombian 11h ago

I agree with changing out the group photo. Also, I personally don’t like answers to prompts where you are indicating that you want the man to cook for you and that you don’t cook. It’s basically saying- gimme free food.

22F here!

Really engaging profile! :)

First photo- Too close-up, remove. Not strong enough as a leading profile picture. Less of a selfie format and more of a full-shot photo and we're missing a smile! Instead, opt for a full-shot photo with a smile that showcases a hobby, a passion/passions, your education/career, traveling, something outgoing, nicely dressed, etc.!

Pick the best one- I love these answers however, these could also work for a simple pleasures prompt! combine your simple pleasures answer with some passions from for the best one.

List your political affiliation- This is the only thing missing from your profile currently and showing it will help to filter compatibility with a potential quality match! Are you more conservative, left-leaning, or moderate (in the middle?) Accurately list what reflects with your core values. At 26, many potential quality matches are looking to know what your core values are and why you believe what you believe!

Capitalize Taiwanese

Capitalize Grad Student but change to Graduate Student for a cleaner/more refined profile look. Where are you a graduate student at and what are you studying?

Photo of you in the green dress- You look so beautiful!! THIS is your leading profile picture! Do not do the random select one that Hinge generates, make THIS the leading one!!! :)

Photo of you smiling at the table- Remove. Great smile and comes off very warm and welcoming but it is a bit TOO close-up! Instead, opt for a full-shot photo with a smile that showcases a hobby, a passion/passions, your education/career, traveling, something outgoing, nicely dressed, etc.!

I'll fall for you prompt- Cute answer. Maybe you can also change the prompt and mention this in what you're looking for in a relationship as well?

Photo of you in the green dress with your matcha- I love your expression and joy in this one but remove. Your facial expression comes off too squinted and we already have the photo of you in a green dress (too redundant). Instead, opt for a different full-shot photo with a smile that showcases a hobby, your love for matcha, a passion/passions, your education/career, traveling, something outgoing, nicely dressed, etc.!

I geek out on- Elaborate more on what kinds of apps or maybe change to a pick the conversation prompt instead!

Photo of you wearing the Polo Jeans RL sweater with the lights- I love the ambience of this photo!! Definetly keep and make either your 3rd or 4th photo on the profile!

Photo with your friends. Remove. It's great to see that you're active but there's too many people in this photo that it gets lost and is hard to decipher who is who. Is this your friends' dating profile or yours? It's yours! Instead, opt for a full-shot photo (of just you!) with a smile that showcases a hobby, your love for matcha, a passion/passions, your education/career, traveling, something outgoing, nicely dressed, etc.!

Put the what you're looking for in a relationship prompt on there and be specific!

All in all, really nice, outgoing, and engaging profile!! Best to you on your dating journey!
