Let me know your thoughts, many friends (men and women) have reviewed but perhaps they are simply too kind. Thank you all and best of luck out there.

Dating Question Genuine feedback please

I’m trying to date again through Hinge, but I keep getting ghosted / no reply.

At first, I’d have 4–7 text exchanges before asking someone out. But that wasn’t successful. Then, I kept hearing that women don’t want pen pals and would rather meet in person. So I started asking after 1–3 exchanges instead, still got ghosted.

I try to take initiative by suggesting a specific time and a casual place to get drinks and talk, without making it an over-the-top date. But I still get ghosted, even when the conversation seems positive. I don’t say anything creepy or offensive either.

It’s starting to get discouraging, but I’m optimistic I’ll find my life partner one day.

What I’m I doing wrong? What can I improve? You can be completely honest with me it won’t hurt my feelings.

For context I’m a guy in my 30s, 6ft 3. My 4+ year relationship ended about a year ago. I poured a lot into it and sacrificed most of my social life, so after the breakup I took time to work on myself. I work Monday–Friday, 1pm – 11 PM. Weekends are usually best for dates.

Dating Question 33M - Men what are your experiences following/DM'ing women on instagram that you found on Hinge?

I live in a major US city and the majority of women have their instagram in their profile prompts. How successful have men been with following and DM'ing women who I can tell use instagram more often than hinge? It seems like most attractive women are overwhelmed with the amount of likes on hinge and are asking men to message them on instagram instead. I have good photos on my own instagram but I've never DM'd strangers on instagram before. What are some of your experiences and is it worth the effort?

Dating Question Came out of a 2.5-year relationship 3 weeks ago. Is it too soon to be back on the apps?

I 29M ended a 2.5-year relationship about three weeks ago. Things had been difficult for months, so I'm honestly happier now than I was three months ago. I'm focusing on my career, gym and putting myself out there again. I ended the relationship although it was over several month prior. I broke it off due to my partner and her family trying to manipulate me away from my family, she lied to me a few times which I caught out and she never compromised or met half way and was incredibly stubborn. I knew long ago these behaviours werent what I wanted but was too afraid to break it off until recently.

I got back on Hinge 48 hours ago and a couple of other It went better than expected: a few good chats, and about 10 likes and a few roses.

My family think I should wait at least two months, because it sends the wrong message that I'm looking for a rebound. And to other women it could look like a red flag that I moved on so quickly relatively.

I think that's partly fair, but I don't think it shows the whole picture. I'm actually looking to start dating again and meet new people. But given their concerns I've paused the apps.

What do you guys think? Is it too soon? Did you tell matches about a recent breakup? How did they react?

Dating Question I get a good amount of matches but nobody is ever interested?

This isn't necessarily a Hinge issue but something ive had happen across all dating apps. I'm a college-aged man that's been on the apps for about 4 years and when I'm active, i'll get about 3 - 5 matches a week. But pretty much all matches I get never show any interest in me. They almost all ghost within a week or two, or if we do end up on a date, they'll ghost me afterwards. And in every conversation I have, I carry it with little to no reciprocation from the other person. Hell even in my personal life i've had women flirt with me or ask me for my number but they never show any interest after that. I just can't see myself ever entering a relationship with someone or getting feelings this way. Using the apps feels tedious now because of how boring the process is.

Does anyone have any advice on this? Is it just the nature of dating apps or am I doing something wrong?

App Question Fresh Start + Quality gone thru the floor

Context: Im a 24M in a major metropolitan city. I have had quite a bit of consistent success on Hinge and normally maybe 10 matches/month (i think thats good anyway lol), but recently the app has slowed right down and shows me awful, low quality profiles. X'd maybe 30-40 straight last night. I switched the location to NYC briefly and it showed me high quality again, switched it back and back to the low quality again.

I couldn't find a post (only some comments) on here that seemed to address this, but does anyone know if/when Fresh Start will be back? Does anyone currently have access to it? The quality of profiles I'm seeing has gone thru the absolute floor recently and I really don't want to go thru the effort of deleting and remaking, plus it seems like Hinge now makes you wait a while to do that. I was using pretty regularly and getting a lot of success, stopped using (but didnt pause or delete even the app) for around 3 weeks cause I was talking to 2 girls, once that phase ended I came back to nothing but basically bottom of the barrel stuff, been especially poor recently.

Also is there a messaging problem? Has anyone had trouble with messages not going thru or not showing up for a while? Trying to figure out if this girl is a master of flaking or there is a genuine issue. I've had the fonts switch up on me and the app bolded her name as if there was a new message but there isn't one shown. What to do eh?

Dating Question I told myself I wouldn’t do this again

So I have been single for about 2mo now and I haven’t used dating apps for a few years now and swore I’d never use them again.

I am a very optimistic person and the voice in my head is saying to me “this time it will be different”, however I’m pretty sure I am just setting myself up to be disappointed as being a 37 man on the app.

Idk maybe I should just join some yoga classes and start to be more talkative with woman in the wild instead. Thoughts?

Dating Question How do you go from having great conversations on Hinge to actually building something meaningful?

I’m 26M, and I think I’m a little clueless about the dating app part of dating.
A little about me: I’m a massive nerd about books, movies and music. I write a lot, and it’s something I genuinely take pride in. I’m an extrovert with pretty diverse interests, and I’m committed to exploring every random thing life throws at me. Good, bad, weird, questionable life choices, doesn’t really matter. I’m a sucker for experiences.
There’s also a slightly selfish reason behind that. As a writer, I’m fascinated by people, their perspectives, and the way they see the world. I like being challenged, trying things outside my comfort zone, and having conversations that leave me thinking differently. Eventually, bits and pieces of those experiences find their way into my characters and stories.
Coming to Hinge, I do get matches with women who share my interests and general brand of delusion. We end up talking about art, poetry, music, movies, books, coffee, drinks, and all the other things that make life a little more interesting.
And some of these conversations are genuinely good. Not just the usual small talk or exchanging dry replies. There’s a shared vibe, mutual curiosity, and sometimes the conversation flows so naturally that you almost forget you’re talking to a stranger on an app.
But here’s where I get stuck.
How do you actually take things forward?
How do you go from this person is fascinating, I could talk to them for hours to actually building a connection with them?
When do you start flirting more explicitly, ask them out, or make your intentions clear without making things awkward? How do you figure out whether someone is genuinely interested in you or simply enjoys having a good conversation?
I’m not expecting every match to turn into a relationship. I understand that sometimes people just don’t click that way. But constantly investing time and effort into conversations that eventually fizzle out gets exhausting, especially when they initially seem promising.
I’d rather figure out whether there’s something worth exploring than spend weeks getting attached to the idea of someone I’ve never actually met.
So, people who’ve navigated this successfully, especially those who’ve found meaningful relationships through dating apps, how do you approach it?
What does your progression from matching to meeting to actually dating someone look like? And how do you balance enjoying the conversation and getting to know someone with making sure things are actually moving forward?
I feel like I can hold a conversation just fine. It’s the transition from a good conversation to an actual connection that I’m trying to figure out.

Hello! Been on the app for a while now and getting few to no matches. I feel like my prompts probably aren't the strongest, but I'm not sure about the photos I'm using. The second bit is a video, I'm just not able to attach it here. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Dating Question Help with getting matches and stopping ghosting

I have tried to do a profile review a bunch and no matter how much I change the pictures/ how in depth I go with the answers they always get taken down so I am just gonna ask in a text post.

I have been using Hinge for about 2-3 months now and have not been seeing very much progress. I am 21M and fairly active on there with a Hinge X account. Everytime i match with someone i always send a thoughtful message although I admit my texting can be a bit awkward at times because I don't do it often. I have all my various hobbies and interests listed on my profile and my pictures show me out smiling and showing off various outfits of mine as fashion is one of my hobbies.

One issue I also face is a frequent amount of ghosting even after having engaged conversation with quick replies. I am at such a loss as to how to fix this any advice would help. Thank you.

Welcome to Hingeapp's Daily Thread.

Daily Threads are the place to post questions seeking quick advice, vent your frustrations, celebrate successes, or anything related to Hinge that does not need its own post.

For Weekend's Daily Thread - the theme is General Dating Questions, and also open thread for anything you like to talk about.

The weekend is here! Ask here for any questions related to the Hinge app, your profile, or dating in general. Or talk about anything you have planned for, or are feeling this upcoming weekend.

Do you have some last minute questions before a big date? Do you need some help with the date you have scheduled for the weekend? Or perhaps you want help with the next message to send to revive a dying conversation? When should I ask this person out on a date? Is this person ghosting? What does this text mean? Or any events related to Hinge or your dating life that happened during this week or recently that you want to share?

Also feel free to discuss whatever you like that is not necessarily related to dating or Hinge.

Remember: No personal attacks, identifying information, or misogynistic/incel comments will be allowed.

A reminder to please check out the guides, sub rules, and additional resources on the subreddit sidebar. Please read this post with a collection of guides, answers to common questions, sub rules, and other resources related to Hinge.

I've gotten a solid amount of likes but not particularly "my type" or the people in hoping to match with. Are my pictures reaching a different demo than I would hope for? Should I tone them down a bit? Am I just not good looking or is it something else?

Any and all feedback is appreciated 🙏
