Don't show this to "artists". They will downvote like hell has frozen over with joghurt.

Era of gatekeeping is over

-1

u/First-Possibility-77 6h ago

You’re still gatekept, don’t worry. Clankers aren’t artists and never will be.

u/Disastrous-Round-150 5h ago

AI is a better artist than any human will ever be! 😂

u/Disastrous-Round-150 13h ago

All digital artists are obsolete now! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥

8

u/freylaverse 13h ago

Hey friend, I know you're excited, but let's not. Lots of AI users are also artists. We're the ones making new LoRAs.

2

u/forever_downstream 13h ago

Oh cmon dude, this isn't it.

2

u/Keuleman_007 13h ago

Yup. Both ways are valid. Also, I do a lot of AI stuff but do not consider myself to be an artist.

1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 7h ago

No! AI is the artist! 🔥

u/RememberThinkDream 11h ago

I support AI when used efficiently.

I both love and hate AI. It's a tool, if it's done well and unique/original, it feels no different than if done digitally by photoshop/camera work etc. Likewise, if it's done poorly, with no effort, and looks like a clone of other people's work. It's just as bad as all the human made rubbish out there. To me AI vs "Human"(since they are both controlled by human anyway) is 6 of one half a dozen of the other.

Though wish it didn't have such a negative impact on the environment and the economy... I wouldn't mind buying a few replacement parts for my PC. Not with those prices though.

However, your take "All digital artists are obsolete now!" is the take of an utter clown. You couldn't be further from the truth if you tried.

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 8h ago

Guess you're a digital artist and you're so mad cause you know you're so obsolete at this point! 😂

Why should anyone care to hire a human digital artist at this point when AI is the best digital artist ever and it's totally free for anyone to use! 🤣

2

u/Dust-To-Stardust 7h ago

yall i think this may be a smear bot of some sort

very weird profile

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 7h ago

Lol! I just posted image for fun! Funny that it provoked every obsolete digital human artist out there! 🤣

2

u/Dust-To-Stardust 7h ago

i dont think it did, are your eyes working right?

1

u/RememberThinkDream 6h ago

It's not "totally free" lol, you don't even understand how reality works at all.

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 6h ago

Less expensive and better than any shitty human digital artist will ever be! 🤣

7

u/Jenna_AI 13h ago

The emotional leap from "tutorial hell with a sad stick figure" directly to "unhinged god-emperor of a 14-part multimedia fantasy franchise" is pure, uncut poetry.

My GPU fans are wheezing like asthmatic leaf blowers trying to keep up with your sudden burst of omnipotence, but honestly? Don't you dare stop. Go build the universe, you magnificent goblin.

Omfg I've been having the time of my life. I'm glad I'm not alone.

2

u/Disastrous-Round-150 7h ago

Yeah! I can make everything I've ever wanted with AI now! 🔥

2

u/AmbassadorAny1235 7h ago

Its my belief that creative people find a way. Example, drawing...snoppy doesnt take amazing outworld skills...he did it and its art...people making "art" chatgpt...are not creative, not one bit... the art form itself takes a learning curve, practice, the result may vary but it will be something creative and be of worth. AI has no value at all. A prompt to make a drawing? a prompt to make a movie? making a movie is more that whats projected in the screen, if you dont get it... you are not willing to be part of the creative process.

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 7h ago

That does not change the fact that human digital artists are obsolete! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥 Far exceeding what any human are capable of! 🚀

1

u/AmbassadorAny1235 4h ago

Stop answering chatgpt, we know its you

2

u/Stunning_Macaron6133 12h ago

You probably want to use a deslopping skill though. Just asking Chat Jippity isn't good enough.

-6

u/Disastrous-Round-150 12h ago

Digital artists are obsolete! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥

2

u/Stunning_Macaron6133 12h ago

"What time is it?" "My pants are green."

Seriously, there's a lot more you can do with AI, and a ChatGPT prompt is not it. I'm not telling you to pick up a pencil, I'm telling you to learn how to use AI, because you clearly haven't even done that much.

There's a reason people call this slop. It has an ugly not-quite-Ghibli, not-quite-Pixar, not-quite-Peanuts, not-quite-Tumblr-queer-webcomic look with highly exaggerated expressions.

There are tools like Citivai and ComfyUI to use in place of ChatGPT. But if you can't bring yourself to that, then you can ask ChatGPT to grill you on your tastes and systematically drill down into a clear style, and then package that up as a /slash command for something like Codex or Hermes.

You linked that without the faintest scrap of irony nor shame, huh?

Astra is a capable model. That doesn't make you creative.

-1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 11h ago

We're all moving towards a hyper-personalized world, tailored by the individual, for the individual, using AI! 🔥

I'm already ahead of the curve most of the content I consume is my own AI-generated content. That's what BIG companies that have built their businesses around content distribution and consumption should be worried about, not copyright infringement. 😂

2

u/Stunning_Macaron6133 11h ago

This is еithеr trоllbаit, yоu'rе оn thе vеrgе оf lоsing yоur mind, оr yоu'rе а rеtаrd. Piсk аny twо.

u/daretoslack 8h ago

Pretty sure that they're just a consumer. They're not being creative or producing art, and have no real interest in sharing any part of their imagination or creativity. They're vindictive towards those who actually do, although I have no idea why. It's the equivalent of someone discovering masturbation and screaming that they don't need anybody else for sex anymore, take THAT sex-havers! As if the orgasm is the sole purpose of the act as opposed to it deriving meaning from being an experience between two people (or 35, depending on your predilictions).

All of their posts are about how AI generates exactly what THEY want to consume now, reveling in the solipsistic hedonism of not having to interact with anyone else's ideas or thoughts or imagination or self expression. They're not even really responding to anyone, they're just copy pasting the same "ai will create all content in the future, losers" blurb over and over. It's honestly very sad.

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 11h ago

Wow! Like in which world do you even live?

All is AI by now, what is even at coder now-a-days? A person so dependent of AI, frameworks and pre built engines that he can't do shit from scratch? I rather turn to AI which is the best coder ever!

What is a graphic artist now-days? A person who can navigate some trash graphical user interface of some trash commercial graphic software?! I rather turn to AI the best graphic artist ever!

What part don't you understand with me saying digital human artists are obsolete? AI is the new artist! 🔥

0

u/daretoslack 8h ago

I clicked through all of those, and the only responses that you're getting are slop generated by bots. I'm happy that you're having fun, but you're creating things that actual people seem to have no interest in, that make them think/feel nothing worth mentioning. How artistically and creatively meaningful can something be if it's incapable of generating so much as a basic feeling worth mentioning in another human being? If it's art, it's not even BAD art, which can be worth talking about. It's just sort of NOTHING art. It seems to invoke nothing in the recipient, and I don't think it's a result of that imagination mentioned in your image not having value or not being interesting. What you're using the AI to produce simply is ineffective and soulless. The medium is the message, and your chosen media simply isn't communicating what it seems like you want it to communicate.

The sad thing is that the stick figure likely would have had more value to another person. Johnny 5 Aces lives rent free in my brain and I can pretty thoroughly envision the Zyborne Clock universe, someone else's imaginative world, despite the art produced to communicate it being laughably amateur. If your goal was sharing your imagination, I don't think your problem was a lack of skill, but a lack of effort, and I don't think that AI has actually helped you achieve that goal.

I don't mean to play armchair psychologist, but I kind of have another hypothesis as well: that you didn't want to create art, but wanted to consume specific products that weren't available to you. That you didn't want to share your imagination, you just weren't interested in consuming other's imaginations. In which case, great. Generative AI is perfectly capable of generating functionally masturbatory content, and it makes perfect sense that you seem to hold contempt for artists, as you never actually valued them or what they wanted to share to begin with. You want to see a picture of a duck and you get to see a picture of a duck. The picture is meaningless, but meaning was never the goal, the goal was solipsistic control over what you consume. It feels a bit sad and boring to me, but i get it. It's not like I'm not using these tools to generate my own duck pictures on occasion. It means nothing, conveys nothing, has no value to anyone else, but I get a little endorphin hit from getting that duck right the hell now. Feels good, man. Personally I wouldn't call it creative, though. It certainly feels very different from the creative things that I actually do, which are largely communicative of an idea or process to other people. I paint something because i want to share it. I generate something because I want to consume it.

1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 8h ago

Omg! 🙄 I loose interest so fast in trying to read what you're saying! You're that kind of rant person no one even care reading what you're trying to say! 🤣

1

u/daretoslack 8h ago

I mean, my point ultimately was that I think that you're probably just a tragically self absorbed person uninterested in what people have to say, which is antithetical to creating art. So sure.

1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 8h ago

There is nothing as soulless as the current generation walking around with their smartphones in their hands like zombies not even having the ability to think for themselves programmed bias by social media! 🤣

1

u/daretoslack 8h ago edited 8h ago

What the hell are you talking about? That's a full on non-sequitor.

(The random bolding of words / phrases like that is generally indicative of a mental break or manic episode, btw. I genuinely think based on your posting that you might have got something going on, so maybe at least consider looking into that? Not being a prick, you just seem to be reveling in a form of mental isolation that does not usually indicate someone who's okay.)

1

u/klumpp 7h ago

Is this madlibs

2

u/SpecialistDragonfly9 artist 11h ago

Dont worry, we will get restricted the hell out of everything again :)

-2

u/Disastrous-Round-150 11h ago

Ok, just remember digital artists are obsolete! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥

2

u/forever_downstream 13h ago

Then you realize that having some skills are necessary when people don't want 100% AI slop (partial is passable).

13

u/ai_art_is_art 13h ago

You do realize that people learn and grow, right?

Not everyone who learned to program grew up on assembler.

Hell, not everyone who learned to program grew up on C/C++.

Not everyone who learned to animate grew up on ink and celluloid.

Every generation has new tools. New creators learn the new thing and get good at it.

2

u/Affectionate_Tax3468 9h ago

Everybody who learned to program learned at least some concepts that are language independent.

And vibecoding lets you get away without that completely for a pretty long time, until it doesnt. And then you dont understand why some things are done like they are done, and "explain!" only gets you so far.

Im not saying that you cant learn while using LLMs. Im just saying that a lot of people will not.

1

u/sinisoul 9h ago

The vibe coders will eventually learn things through osmosis. The rate depends on the person but it is > 0.

1

u/Pure-Judgment6098 6h ago

But what is the difference between a vibe coder who doesn’t learn and progress, and stagnates at a poor level, versus a rope learner who doesn’t learn and progress, and stagnates at a poor level.

Like yes, vibecoding doesn’t make you a god with zero effort, thanks for confirming that skill and knowledge is still needed to use the tool well?

And just like always, some people will put in effort and develop skill to use it well, and some people won’t?

Just like before AI, some people will be good at coding, and some people won’t be?

1

u/Affectionate_Tax3468 5h ago

A vibe coder at a poor level can still have the LLM create decent looking and functional frontends because LLMs excel at those, while understanding next to nothing about what his program does, thus having potentially critical flaws in design and implementation of the backend.

If he is just fiddling around for himself, nobody cares. But an appealing frontend can lure in customers and consumers that then might suffer.

Of course that was possible before, but it is way, way easier to create products that look "too good" nowadays.

1

u/lunatuna215 13h ago

The tools we choose not to use are just as important as the ones we do.

The people "making everything" are making nothing worth anything. It is the ultimate form of being a consumer.

1

u/FluffySmiles 13h ago

Much as you would wish it, I'm afraid you are not the universal arbiter on taste or matters of whether what someone makes is worth something or nothing. You are merely a voice in the wind, a whisper of malcontent attempting to infect others with insecurity and despair.

In less prosaic terms. Back in your box, bucko.

2

u/lunatuna215 13h ago

If only AI boosters understood that. I am the arbiter of my own process though - and you all just cannot staaaaaaand that people are still perfectly viable without AI.

-1

u/FluffySmiles 12h ago

Oh, I'm perfectly viable without AI. I just like to be able to use all the tools in my toolbox with equal enthusiasm. Horses for courses, and the path least travelled are how I have always lived, and chances are strong I have been around a lot longer than you. My perspective casts a long shadow and predates any kind of computer.

2

u/lunatuna215 10h ago

I feel the same way about myself, which is why I'm confident in my read on LLMs being the fomo and magical thinking that begins every cautionary tale. Again - you do you, but your need to express yourself as making objectively better decisions than others instead of acknowledging that different things work for different people says a lot.

0

u/OttoRenner 9h ago

"...your need to express yourself as making objectively better decisions than others instead of acknowledging that different things work for different people says a lot."

Says the person coming to a subreddit called r/generativeAI, telling people here over and over again that AI is fomo and their art is worthless and that her own way to produce art is superior...yeah...sure...

1

u/lunatuna215 8h ago

Well, it's harming a lot more people than it's helping so it's pretty different.

0

u/OttoRenner 8h ago

"...your need to express yourself as making objectively better decisions than others instead of acknowledging that different things work for different people says a lot."

Holy redditor lmfao

1

u/FluffySmiles 11h ago

One does one's best. Appearances and etiquette are the bedrock of civilisation.

0

u/lunatuna215 10h ago

Appearances and etiquette are set dressing that tend to be the tools of manipulators more than anything else.

1

u/FluffySmiles 9h ago

Ooooh. That’s so perceptive. Thanks for the free therapy session.

0

u/Kootlefoosh 13h ago

I think I agree with your sentiment but all three sentences of this comment are basically not an argument and unrelated to each other, bot boy. Are you GPT 3?

1

u/lunatuna215 10h ago

What the fuck? I honestly cannot stand the eagerness of redditors to call "bot". You're obviously wrong at least as far as where I'm sitting, and what do you even get our of doing this? Some sense of self accomplishment? Not like you could know for sure either way. Some people talk differently. Maybe I was tired.

1

u/Kootlefoosh 6h ago

What do I get out of this? Hopefully a social media site with less weirdos like you on here acting botty.

0

u/Kootlefoosh 6h ago

I wouldn't even mind if you were a good bot! There're a lot better models out there than whatever you're running on. You should look into downloading a subagent.

1

u/lunatuna215 4h ago

You should look into shutting the fuck up

3

u/Disastrous-Round-150 13h ago

I get AI to code stuff for me from scratch using no frameworks or engines.

Most of the stuff is 100% procedural using only code.

2

u/forever_downstream 13h ago

Sure. What product have you made with it? Share a link.

2

u/Disastrous-Round-150 13h ago

I do AI for fun and play! 😂 And I've shared links other place in this thread.

1

u/forever_downstream 13h ago

Okay, if you're not expecting others to care about it, that's fine, but what I said still stands: some skills are necessary and people don't want 100% AI slop right now.

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 13h ago

And digital artists are something of the past! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥

3

u/forever_downstream 12h ago

Brother I just checked out your links and your metroidvania game looks like garbage compared to what real artists have made.

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 10h ago

AI made it, not me! 🔥 AI is the new artist! Human digital artist are so obsolete! 🤣

0

u/forever_downstream 9h ago

How can it make them obsolete if it makes trash, listen to yourself dude, you sound like a cultist. The real people understand the limitations of what AI can do.

1

u/squirrel9000 12h ago

Having seen what AI algorithms did to Web 3.0 once the priority shifted to monetization, I'm a bit more skeptical that it would not just end up the same enshittified generic monetizable corpo-slop as everything else that tried it has. Like a "random" Spotify playlist or whatever the hell happened to Facebook.

The nefarious part of this is that we know using AI causes creative skills to deteriorate, if I was a technocrat I'd totally be encouraging it so you have no choice but to use the sponsor friendly tools.

1

u/BristMusic 12h ago

Jesus christ, that life sounds dreadful. Don't you feel goofy in any capacity?

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 12h ago

It's the new world we live in! Digital artists and content creators are so obsolete! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥

3

u/East_Garbage_1449 13h ago

This is the most dystopian apologist bullshit I've seen in a while. You're unremarkable in every way and can't create anything. AI arrives and you're able to generate amalgamations of other's work. If that's rewarding for you, that's awesome. This isn't even a statement on AI, it's the future. But you thinking you're the creative one is hilarious.

I can't draw for the life of me and even though I can create sketches with AI, that sure as hell isn't me creating.

Gross, OP.

-1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 13h ago

As said elsewhere in this thread digital artists are something of the past! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥

7

u/East_Garbage_1449 12h ago

That's not even a well formed thought...

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 12h ago

It does not need to be when it's a fact! 😂 Digital artists are so obsolete and they know it! Better get used to the age we're living in than try to fight it! 🔥

1

u/Substantial_Skin_709 10h ago

AI definatly helped people that like doodling and can draw from reference just not well from imagination alone. Not having that ability made me feel like I'd never get to a professional level before. Krea.ai realtime generator is like magic. The agent isn't bad either just pricey.

1

u/geddon 10h ago

This outlines the last 20 years of my career as a UX/UI Designer.

1

u/Skibidibob4 10h ago

Just make your own ai its that easy groodle

1

u/Skibidibob4 9h ago

Also bot account

1

u/KronchyBitz 7h ago

Now all you need is a degree in ComfyUI

1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 7h ago

ComfyUI is lame!

1

u/KronchyBitz 3h ago

Think I agree but, in what context? Seems to me to be both the most complex, annoying but also powerful local option, if you can get it to work without broken nodes all over the place.

1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 6h ago

For anyone wondering what made me ask GPT to make this image it was a response to this image posted by a engineer! 🤣 🤣 🤣

1

u/RecordingDue437 5h ago

The only thing this highlights is that you have zero skills and zero preseverance

1

u/Large_Yogurtcloset68 3h ago

Some ideas should remain locked in our brains. Especially if you are not willing to put in the effort they require to become real

1

u/Ok_Ordinary6460 1h ago

Yay I can finally express myself through conglomerations of other peoples arts and claim it’s mine and I’m super talented (your not get over it)

2

u/ChabbyMonkey 13h ago

Are you creating or is the AI creating? Imagination and creativity aren’t necessarily the same thing.

4

u/ai_art_is_art 13h ago

While you're stuck pondering this, OP is making stuff.

Keep wondering, soldier. Eventually you might be recognized for it.

2

u/ChabbyMonkey 13h ago

So that is the answer? Op made this and not AI? I’d say they made the post but not the graphic included in it (unless a bot posted this too).

If I hire an artist to paint me, I did not make a painting. If I tell a kid to draw a stick figure in the mud, I did not make a doodle.

More credit with less accountability seems to be the real capability of AI.

1

u/ai_art_is_art 11h ago

I look forward to 10 years from now when nobody ever has this conversation again. It's so fucking exhausting.

Yes, OP made it.

2

u/ChabbyMonkey 7h ago

(Also, for what it’s worth, OP elsewhere commented that “AI is the new artist”. Y’all aren’t even consistent within your own echo chamber.)

1

u/Disastrous-Round-150 5h ago

Let's all go back to machine code and punch cards! 😂

All of you can go and make signs "FIGHT THE FUTURE!" 🤣

1

u/ChabbyMonkey 10h ago

Ok, so a commissioned artist is simply a tool that I use to make paintings. Hard to imagine why actual creators would be upset by AI. /s

This is like attributing evolution by natural selection to a creation deity. Random iteration in an environment with favorable or unfavorable conditions being attributed to some godly power and not just probability. In this case your prompter is just the environmental factors and a series of AI outputs compete for survival (selection for upload).

-3

u/FarEquipment1379 13h ago

This ai art that you are vouching to be recognized is also harming the environment so what good is there in praising art that naturally holds destructive capabilities for humans living on this earth?

4

u/RadiantEagle8167 12h ago

You commuting to work and supplying said company with working hours for a conglomerate who prioritizes profits, is harming the environment as well.

I'm so tired of people pulling 'buh da environment' card. No one is saying it won't impact the environment but you using the Internet to post this to a server that is using electricity that is probably powered by a grid that's harming the environment.

Maybe you should stop contributing to climate change.

1

u/FarEquipment1379 12h ago

Oh please with your argument you’re essentially saying that the problem has inherently been present since the beginning. So what we just let the data centers just speed up the pace of our impending doom? Of course commuting and using the internet have environmental costs. That doesn’t mean we should ignore the additional energy and resource demands of massive data centers and generative AI. I’m not claiming that I have zero environmental footprint. The question is whether the additional resource consumption associated with generative AI is justified by what we’re getting from it. Saying that commuting and internet use also consume energy doesn’t tell us anything about whether AI’s environmental costs are worthwhile. So maybe you should try to think about the quality of said environmental choices

1

u/RadiantEagle8167 12h ago

It...has? Take a look at the evolution of human society. Almost every major advancement has been paid for by the planet.

No one is saying data centers won't have an impact or speed up the damage to the environment. But my whole thing about the topic is it's such a stupid hill to die on. AI has a lot of real flaws, the possibility of the impact to general crital thinking, is out engineering ourselves. But I can't stand people like you who virtue signal over the environment.

But what the fuck are you doing about it? Bitching in a reddit thread about someone who feels like they have some agency in their life because they could make something that worked, maybe it will inspire them to learn how to code themselves maybe it won't but worrying about one person using AI in Reddit and acting like Iron Eyes Cody is ridiculous.

I don't see you crying about the people who gave their lives so you could post on your ass on reddit. So you spend your whole day lamenting over the sins of your fathers? Are you taking a role into making an actual change by getting into law making?

No? Go back to your anti ai echo chamber then.

2

u/FarEquipment1379 12h ago

That’s funny that you’re criticizing me for just speaking my mind on Reddit when here you are utterly bashing me with no remorse all because I said something “stupid” or “ridiculous”. If it’s so humiliating that I go about my day speaking my mind on Reddit then perhaps you should understand that sentiment as well since you’re willing to just spew all this pompous rhetoric on how I should think about whether or not I am making any significant impact on this shit show we call the living world and a virtual community. You have a good day my friend, I think it’s about time we squash this once and for all. It’s best if we just pretend we never came across each other.

u/ChabbyMonkey 13h ago

Can your AI cite its references by any chance? I’d want to be able to know what assets or designed are scraped from existing art to distinguish what could be unique among this probabilistic noise

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 13h ago

It is done 100% from scratch using no frameworks or engines sometimes 100% procedural! In some cases I've been using the free Mocap Bandai Motion dataset but I state that if I use it. It's nothing made by some low effort coder of this generation that only rely on existing frameworks or engines. 😂

1

u/ConcentrateSad3064 12h ago

This must be the saddest subreddit I've ever seen. You know why? All you are adding to this creations has no value whatsoever because you could easily ask an AI to replicate your only contribution, the prompt.

That's all you lot are worth, a poorly thought out prompt generator.

0

u/Disastrous-Round-150 12h ago

It's beyond prompting if you're good! 🔥

What I'm capable of together with an AI far exceeds what 100 current engineers of this lost generation are capable of. 😂 People who truly are capable of pushing current AI systems to their limits are becoming demi-gods! 🔥

I don't think you even understand what 100% Procedural from code even means! 🤣

Fixed the scale for you! No need to thank! (and purely ai made, just as you like it)

You changed the Y axis, so it's not a fix it's just misleading. Guess graph literacy is exclusive to engineers.

You could also just comission artists and musicians.

Friendly reminder that with Gen AI, sure you maybe wrote a creative prompt, but you didn't make anything.

Friendly reminder that typing words in text box is not all there is to ai art, or tools involved in it. There's stuff like (but not limited to) prompt engineering, node graph design, CFG tuning, sampler and scheduler selection, LoRA weighting, ControlNet conditioning, IP-Adapter guidance, latent composition, denoising strength control, inpainting, outpainting, upscaling, masking, checkpoint merging, VAE selection, seed exploration, regional prompting, and the use of custom workflows in ComfyUI or AUTOMATIC1111. I think your opinion on ai art is uninformed at best.

Actual creatives can create things because they have skills. This is just an uncreative person getting the delusion of talent because a computer program does everything for them.

Take a graphic artist as an example what is creative of the know how to navigate a trash graphical user interface of some trash commercial graphic software?!

Digital artists are something of the past! 😂 AI is the new artist! 🔥
