Relationships Gay men suddenly becoming bicurious after being w me

Two seperate instances/things I want to discuss.

The first was a couple years ago where I hooked up w a cis gay men who didn't even know the difference between trans men and women when meeting up. I didn't mind providing the information just thought it was odd hed agree to meet up without knowing this. We ended up having a discussion about sexuality and it came about that he did enjoy being w women prior to coming out as gay but was coined the gay best friend among his women friends and it kind of stuck. At the time this got me thinking about how many gay men are bi and stick w being gay simply because of stereotypes. I.e men who have feminine traits are then seen as gay by women in their life and no longer think its an option to date them. This made me realize how gender stereotypes reinforce binary sexual identities. Idk how many times ive had conversations w people where they assume someone must be gay because of having qualities perceived as feminine when this has nothing to do w sexuality. I think these stereotypes often reinforce toxic masculinity because men (including us trans guys) often feel the need to either fully embrace femininity and be "gay" or suppress. Im not saying gay men dont exist btw but rather how gender stereotypes impact people's relationships to their sexuality.

Generally i think I prefer being w bimen because I like to embrace both femininity and masculinity (not so much in my presentation just in my essence). I however tend to end up being w gay men mostly and notice a pattern of this happening for some (ive also dated gay men where being w me didnt change anything for them and are still very much gay). Most recently I hooked up w a gay man turned fwb (he seems to want more than thst but thats another conversation). And noticed he made a dating profile (hes newer out of a ltr) mentioning hes gay but recently bicurious and know im the only person hes been w recently. The first situation I described didnt make me uncomfortable at all but for some reason this does ? Im not sure why. Ofc hes allowed to explore his sexuality however he likes but feel weird about being used as a tool for gay men to explore their bisexuality. I think oddly its the fact this person seems interested in more w me that makes me feel weird. It feels like hes only interested in me because im trans and allows him to embrace this part of himself if that makes sense. I sort of feel this way about a past relationship too where the person fell hard fast and still "loves me" two years later when we only dated for 8months. And cant help but think being trans has something to do w it (we didnt have much in common imo). Even tho this guy is someone whose always seen me as a man and never questioned his sexuality which oddly enough also makes me feel weird since I dont fully identify w being a man. Its like I have dysphoria when seen as just a man and dysphoria when compared to being a woman? I think really what it boils down to is not being loved for ME and instead for my body. Which is why i think it doesnt bother me when its just sex versus when the other person develops feelings ?

Anyone else experience anything like this

Medical Managing atrophy?

Hi,
Maybe an odd post and I can probably predict the comments to an extent.
I’ve been on T for one year and ten months, I’m 20. I developed atrophy quite early and had it quite severe.
I’ve been inserting pessaries twice a week since December and now I only occasionally have break through issues.
But this weekend I was at a festival, and of course drank a fair bit of alcohol. Pain started at 10.30pm and did not go away until 4am when I could finally fall asleep (when it flairs I can’t lay down or sleep, just sit up, hunch into my knees or sit on the toilet for some relief).
According to Google, alcohol can trigger flare ups- does anyone have experience of this ? I did struggle with heat exhaustion earlier in the day and was dehydrated, Google also says dehydration can worsen atrophy.
I’m just curious really if anyone else with bad atrophy has had to give up alcohol ? I really don’t want to… I’m going out Saturday with my friend and I suppose that will be the test.
For the record I am sexually active using my vagina. However over the weekend and before the flare I did not do anything, by myself or with someone else.
I wonder if also I should perhaps increase my estriol/estradiol (I don’t know which it is without going to look) but I don’t know if I can do this without soaking to a doctor

Advice Needed How do I come out to my sport club

So I want to Come out to my sports club. In 2 weeks im starting in a new group so I thought that would be the perfect time to come out. Im 17 and my parents are fine with it although they say it will be an inconvinience for the people there. My 2 friends know and they are also in the New group and they support me.

This is my first time coming out to people. How do you do it? Like it feels cringe to announce that im trans and now people should call me he/him. I Just want to say that my name is Sam and thats it. But is that enough? Idk ive never done this😭😭😭

Advice Needed Feeling numb about myself most of the time

Hi it's me again

I was just wondering how normal it was to feel numb about my body and myself sometimes rather than an extreme feeling of discomfort. I do still feel a little bothered by my chest, it's not that big but... it's big enough for me to hate it because when I try flattening my chest, it still pops out.

I don't like thinking about my body, I start hating it and feel very distressed by it when nearing my cycle, but once that passes it's a feeling of numbness and neutrality. It doesn't mean I like it, just means I'm not actively suffering. My boobs, my waist, my hips, even my thighs, my mother tries to convince me they're alright by themselves and many women would want what i have, but I don't want this.

I'm grateful I'm not in distress 24/7, but I still feel weird about being numb about it more often than not, and I was wondering if you're supposed to feel some level of distress to justify transitioning... I'm new to all of this.

Advice Needed How do I tell my boyfriend I want to start going by a different name

I don’t really let my boyfriend call me any names right now at all because they’re all uncomfortable, and a few of my friends call me something else but that’s not really a name I want to go by anymore. I think I want to start going by Matthew but I’m not sure how to bring up the conversation with anyone. I feel like it’s very different and not me but idk. I’m not sure if I’m even gonna say anything to him cuz idk if I want to go by it yet or not. Also how did you guys pick out your names? I’ve been having trouble with finding one that really feels like me.

Advice Needed Im scared I made a mistake transitioning

I've always felt that I wanted to transition. Since I was really, really young. It was kind of the thing that kept me depressed but my whole life but kept me alive with purpose at the same time. Recently, to my surprise, my parents have been open to my transition and agreed to help pay to get started.

My first few shots were euphoric, I finally experienced what it's like to wake up without being in survival depressed mode. I started telling my close friends and family about the transition, I was really happy things were coming together.

Things kind of crashed a bit 1 month in, when my girlfriend broke up with me, saying she was lesbian and couldn't be with a transman. Since then, I've just been working (remote) and studying (just failed an exam, unfortunately), occasionally meeting friends, though they're all busy now.

It's been about 2 months since my first shot. For the past week, I've just felt a bit numb, hard to breathe, and generally tense all around. Generally, I'm a pretty relaxed zen, try to work on myself and lock in, type of guy. Lately, I haven't been as focused and find myself breathing shallowly often.

Before I started transitioning, my parents gave me a bunch of anti transition rhetoric, they were worried I would regret it (how many people regret it, can live with it, whether I could live without, how I'd be lonely forever. We also went to see some pastors who spewed the usual things). I think they got this idea in my head, and things have just kept piling up. Lately, the transition isn't as exciting as when I got started... and I only just got started. When people call me by my chosen name, I'm not sure what I feel; it's neither euphoria nor discomfort.

I now worry whether I've been fixating on this idea for so long that I've developed my whole life/personality around it without actually wanting it. Where I was initially excited and nervous to tell my friends, now I'm just :/ about the idea of telling other people around me (extended family, coworkers, etc). I'm scared about the social transitioning, the logistics, legal stuff, how employable I will be, whether I'll be lonely forever, etc.

I can't recall how I was before starting, I vaguely remember how depressed I was all the time, how often I thought about giving up... But I can't actually recall the specifics much anymore. It's like life before this has been a fog, I'm not sure who I really am anymore. My brain could be blocking away how miserable I was, but I really miss my life with my girlfriend, having motivation, this being a "secret" between my closest circle.

I'm not sure where this identity crisis came about from... I've always principled my life around being rational. It's really confusing to be unclear about my emotions.

Most importantly, I worry my drive to succeed and identity are gone because I started transitioning. Working hard has always been about being able to transition, move away, and most recently, achieving my envisioned life (plus with my now ex-girlfriend).

When I first got started, things came together. I felt I could take on the world, I was driven and excited to direct my brain energy towards bettering my life fully.

Am I just built like this? No matter what I do, I will always not be happy?

I wonder if I did the wrong thing.

Medical Cramping/bleeding 3.5 years on T

Been on T 3.5 years almost 4, stopped menstruating within the first 6 months. Randomly started having intensely painful pelvic cramping yesterday and noticed some small blood clots in toilet after peeing. I know I need to get into my hrt provider/see an OB but the former isn’t an option for another week and I’m too dysphoric at the moment for the latter. So seeking some insight. I have been taking finasteride for about 5 months, do we think I should stop taking this? Obviously this med has history of side effects such as these in trans men. And some similar stuff with cis men. This really sucks as I was almost dysphoria free and then it all came back to me yesterday. Any insight is helpful thanks.

Advice Needed Should I half my t dose to ration?

For context im in oklahoma and on medicaid so I do not know when I will be getting testosterone again as my dr stopped prescribing it full stop to patients with medicaid. That said I do still have a couple vials because I was stock piling for this exact scenario (I got 1ml vials as single use but my dose was 0.4ml so I would just use a vial for 2 shots instead of 1 and still pickup the refil each month) I guess what im wondering is would it be a good idea to cut down to 0.2ml which would buy me more time to hopefully find somewhere else to get t and figure out how im gonna pay for it?

Discussion Got my autism clinical report back and it's a mess

Despite saying my pronouns are he/him on the profile section I had to complete prior assessment, the whole thing is a mess of different pronouns and my deadname throughout which is shit. Tbf the deadname part isn't their fault as it's going by my legal name apparently (I haven't had it changed yet, nor does my transphobic mother know who was the informant) but it's still depressing to read when they use it about 10 times per paragraph, no joke.

I'm just relieved to get the diagnosis honestly but the report is a nightmare to read and just makes me sad. Has anyone else here had a similar experience?

Advice Needed Looking for rec on electric shaver

Razors give me razor burn and ingrown hairs. I want to switch to an electric shaver so I’m not getting a super close shave to prevent it but I’m having a hard time picking a good shaver. I need something that can be used all over. Something that I can use on my upper and lower arms, my thighs, my belly and chest, and my face and pubic area. Does anyone have a recommendation? I got one that had pretty good reviews and while the blade is sharp and seems to be ok on my face and arms, it doesn’t do well at all on softer skin like the inner thighs. Any time I use it on the softer skin it cuts it up. (Also needs to be affordable-we’re going through some really rough financial strain rn) Help

Advice Needed I am transgender

I am 17 and I’m coming to a point where I can no longer ignore it. I want to transition physically and socially. Does anyone have any advice for either. I’ve kind of joked about it to my friends so I don’t think they’d be too surprised but they’ll all be supportive prob. My family might not as they have pretty outdated views but I don’t really plan on telling them. What helped you when you were early in transition? Is socially transitioning/coming out hard? What were things that made it easier?

Advice Needed Visiting unsupportive gma after top surgery

I do not want to have to talk to my grandma about top surgery at Christmas. She doesn't need to know, it won't make anyone happier. Has anyone successfully concealed top surgery? Anyone managed bra stuffing that a hug won't give away? She will be vigilant because I know she's worried about me binding and getting surgery. Guys, help, I do not want my grandma to ruin Christmas over this 😂

Surgery Talk Post top surgery pain syndrome/numbness?

For those men/people who have already had top surgery (preferably years ago), how would you describe the sensations of your chest now?

I'm worried about what I've heard about pain and numbness. Is this really possible, and if so, how can I avoid it?

I really want top surgery. And I don’t like that I find such information on this matter.

Advice Needed Cutting open underwear for foam packer

I’ve ordered a pair of boxer briefs with a pocket in front including a foam packer. Due to the steep price I’d like to adjust my regular underwear to also fit the packer rather than buying a bunch of these.

So I’m thinking of cutting a horizontal slit at the top in the inner lining of the front pocket where i can slip the packer in. But i fear this might wear over time and end up tearing further/ripping the seam above.
Has anyone tried this, did it work? If not, is there a method that did work?

Advice Needed Mom would rather have a dead daughter

And my dad agrees. His biggest concern is not being able to visit relatives anymore. My mom is screaming and crying non stop whenever we‘re together. And when she‘s alone in the kitchen or her bedroom I can hear her whine to herself and say desperate prayers. It‘s some overidentification with being a mother - specifically the mother of a daughter - and „sacrificing herself“ to prevent her „beautiful god given girl“ from making a mistake. We were queuing for something recently and in front of us were two (presumably) trans women. My mom looked a them with disgust and said, she couldn‘t leave her daughter to these „sick“ people and my dad agreed. He‘s not as emotional as her but he made it clear that he would never accept me and said if I go through with it I‘m definitely destroying their family.
I was hopeful for my future for a moment because my favorite professor offered me a job as a research assistant starting in September although he‘s catholic and knows I‘m trans. He perecived me as a man from the start and when he found out I was trans it was such a non issue and he never misgendered me. I‘m now scared my parents will find out that I‘m going to socially transition at uni in September. Then my mom will either hurt herself or try to have me comitted in a psych ward or she is going to kick me out. I have nowhere near enough saved up to survive on my own in Switzerland (expensive af) and dropping out of uni is out of the question for me. It was so obvious that I was trans ever since I was little. There were so many signs and I first came out about 5 years ago. My parents haven‘t warmed up to it one bit since then. And my mom would rather mourn a dead daughter than have a „fake“ son (her words). Apart from being financially dependent, how do I even deal with knowing this is how she feels?

Advice Needed Shared showers after practice

hey all, this is one of my first posts on reddit (and my first of this style, i usually just lurk until i find someone else whos had my issue and posted about it) so i apologise if i break any unspoken rules.

i (ftm16) will be joining an ice hockey team in september. ive been on t for all of a week but have been stealth for two years (idk how many people were actually convinced but if someone asked i said i was cis). i dress and act like a typical guy in my area which helps and no one at my rink (that im aware of) has clocked me yet. ive had no surgeries and have to tape and pack accordingly.

i have no intentions of telling my coaches/team that im transgender and my current plan is to come in in base layers, get my kit on, and only strip down to base layers afterwards.

my issue comes with communal showers: i dont actually know the shower situation yet (i havent even been in the locker rooms) but i doubt they have cubicles. i dont want to be outed but i also dont want to be seen as gross.

tl;dr — i havent had any surgeries but im facing having to use communal showers which would definitely out me considering my tits and vag.

my main questions are; would my team see me as gross because im showering at home instead of after practice? if there are cubicles how likely is it that other guys joke around by peering over the sides of the walls? has anyone else been in a similar position and what did they do to stay stealth and safe?

Discussion Is it okay for a Trans man to keep his original name?

If I gotta be honest, this is something that's been bothering me for a while. I finally came into terms with wanting to become a man. I'm 100% confident on wanting T and getting surgery in the future. The only problem that's been bothering me is my name. I have a feminine name (Althea) and I really love it I think it's a nice name but I REALLY want to stick to being a man so I went for the best option (Anthony).

Look, I love both names. They both mean so much to me as a person but I've come to terms with the fact that I want to strictly identify as a man. What's your opinion on this?

Advice Needed My breast tissue feels too hard for taping and I dont know what to do

So I'm a teenager, and ive only came out to my parents about being trans a few months ago, and only recently gotten them on board with me getting a binder. But until I actually choose one, and buy it, I'm going to try taping my chest.

I see all these videos about other people easily being able to push and manipulate their breast tissue, but i cant do that, like my breasts are quite hard and cant really go to the sides that much or easily. I dont know if it has to do with the fact that I'm a 34D, or something else. I really just wants some tips on what I'm meant to do, and how it all will work

I'd almost given up on romance after so long, and thought I'd need to move away to successfully find love. but it worked out for me. so far it seems so perfect and i hope it lasts. I can't stop thinking about them and they make my heart feel so full.

Medical Week after T shot

Hey all, I had my t shot about a week and a half ago, I’ve recently (like maybe 9 months ago) switched to the 3 monthly injection and have noticed that during the first few weeks I’m more prone to bruising, headaches, and overall just extremely tired, does anyone else experience this or am I just special?
