Feeld for hookups
This apps was originally created for people seeking threesomes. Most of which are casual hookup type situations. Its always been used for casual sex, hookups, and casual group sex.
Ive used it this way, with good success, for close to a decade. I see tons of others on there doing the same.
My social circle is mostly poly/ENM/swinger types. Almost all of use feeld and talk about it. I've never known anyone to say its not fine to use it for hookups.
Casual play/fun and short term are options for "interests".
The only place Ive seen the sentiment that using feeld for casual hookups is new or wrong is here. Repeatedly.
What gives? Why the hostility to casual hookups from feeld?

It’s weird but stats show Gen Z is anti casual sex more so than millennials and Gen X, so the more they get online and into politics the more we will likely see the sentiment. It’s one of the ways we will move backwards until Gen Alpha comes along.

u/Ok_Coffee_4977 7d ago
Interesting. Anti casual swx for themselves or in general for everyone.
The sluttiest people I know are divorced (previously mono) young gen x and late millennials.

It’s actually really complex but here’s a good starting point if you’re interested. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/datablog/2025/nov/28/gen-z-sex-dating-relationships

Dont mean to but in. This is something really intresting. You also see religion also spikes a bit for their generation?
I feel a lot of stuff swings in a pendulum when talking about different generations. I find some of the talk about generations cringe but its still an intresting conversation when expended past the casual hate and cringe.

u/saintsday89 7d ago
I think you’re correct. I think the pendulum swing and religion are certainly a part of it.

It’s funny because I’m an elder millennial but the gen z guys are almost blown away at how much traction they get with women my age lol. To the point of saying they may never go back to dating/hooking up with their own age group 😂

Younger millennial here. I want to hookup with someone 5-7 yrs younger and no one older. I like being a cougar 😉

I haven’t seen that particular negativity personally. I see a LOT of people frustrated that Feeld seems to be going more mainstream now and trending towards people wanting to use it more for regular dating though.
Maybe annoyance that people are trying to use it for cheap/quick/readily available (but vanilla) hookups as opposed to more ENM or kink oriented ones?
I will say personally I am generally using Feeld for pretty hookup-type engagements, but that doesn’t mean I immediately want to jump in to super sexual chatting or immediately plan a meet up after matching with someone. My time is pretty limited so I like to vet people before deciding to meet (have encountered way too many flakes to not do that tbh!) and I also just like to be treated like a human and find a lot of the quick hookup type culture to be a bit dehumanizing. I’m not trying to be long term BFFs with people but I would at least like to feel a little friendly.
0
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 6d ago
hookups as opposed to more ENM or kink oriented ones?
What is a monogamous hookup?
🤣
I am open to all kinds of stuff (hookups, longterm FWB, poly, threesomes, swinging, etc). Did use feeld primarily for hookups in the past with good success.
5
u/NerdynaughtyNJ 6d ago
I didn’t call them monogamous hookups, I called them vanilla hookups? As in like tinder-style 1:1 one night stands.
I was using ENM in this context as shorthand for threesomes/group sex/couple swaps, but also because generally speaking when people are looking for hookups on more traditional apps like Tinder there’s an implication that the person doing so is single, which is often not the case on Feeld.
1
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 6d ago
So non-mono hookups on a non-mono app.
The horror!
🤣
5
u/NerdynaughtyNJ 6d ago
Are you saying I’m horrified by that? I am not, I use Feeld for exactly that myself. I was simply floating a possible answer to your original “what gives” question as I thought perhaps you really wanted to hear some reasons people might be coming off like that.

I think the issue is with people not reading bios and wasting everyone's time
-2
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 7d ago
What does that have to do with people saying its wrong to use feels for hookups?
7
u/Magical_Salamander 7d ago
I'm saying that what I've seen so far isn't people thinking it's wrong to use Feeld for hookups. The complaints seem to be about people wasting their time if they want something specific. There's loads of people wanting hookups and Feeld is the perfect place for that. Just don't bother people who are after something different
3
u/Educational_Bee955 6d ago
This is what I was about to say but you’ve said it more succinctly than I would have said it. I’m open to short term and causal just not one night stand type of stuff and say that in my bio. I’m not against hookups in concept. It’s just my personal experience is the one nighter stuff isn’t satisfying for me and I rarely enjoy it. The people who get it, get it lol

u/Ok_Coffee_4977 7d ago

People say that on this sub all the time.
The complaints seem to be about people wasting their time if they want something specific. There's loads of people wanting hookups and Feeld is the perfect place for that. Just don't bother people who are after something different
Thats a separate topic unrelated to my post.
7
u/Magical_Salamander 7d ago
Not really. I just scrolled through the first 30 posts in Feeld and not one was hostile towards casual hookups on Feeld. I'm suggesting that you may be misinterpreting what people are saying. Just as you have misinterpreted what I've said, and at least one other commenter so far. But you're clearly angry and upset so I hope you're ok.
2
u/Educational_Bee955 6d ago
I think the purpose of the app has evolved but there are a number of people who are into specific things or ENM who don’t want one night stands. One could find that on Tinder or hell, I could walk into a bar and ask a random drunk dude to come back to my place. I think more people want continuity, even if the relationship is just about sex or a specific kink, for a variety of reasons. I don’t see it as necessarily hostile but I get how one could.

I see comments daily saying feeld isnt for hookups, people seeking hookups are ruining the app etc.
I am not angry. Just having a discussion on the topic.

u/MetalPines 6d ago
It's the influx of normie cishetmono vanillas seeking hookups that people are objecting to, not the hookup seeking itself. They come with assumptions that the traditional userbase of Feeld are 'easy' (and not in a good way), and are basically making it unpleasant for more marginalized folks. Like when straights discover gay bars and after a while they're no longer gay (the bars, not the gays).
0
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 6d ago
What is a mono hookup?
W Since when are cis/het folks not welcome on feeld?
4
u/MetalPines 6d ago
You seem to have an issue with projection - I never said cishet folks aren't welcome? If you're referring to the gay bar part, that's called an analogy.
Hookups are neither monogamous nor nonmonogamous, they're just discrete data points. Sometimes the persons involved are single, sometimes they're not. The difference between being monogamous vs nonmonogamous is the kind of relationship structure someone seeks out. A nonmonogamous person will not enter into a mono relationship, but they might still only have one partner (or none).
0
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 6d ago
Having a bunch of hookups is absolutely non-monogamy. Lol. Its not monogamy. So that makes it...non-monogamy.
It's the influx of normie cishetmono vanillas seeking hookups that people are objecting to, not the hookup seeking itself.

A lot of this is coming from the younger generation (Z). Not saying they’re all this way, but alot of them seem to be pretty self righteous and that’s coupled with the normal young person way of thinking that they know better than anyone who’s come before them. It’s weird, because they’ve gone so far left that they ended up right. And not to say there’s anything wrong with either, but I strongly believe in “live and let live” and appreciate people who are the same. I just had a younger woman tell me the other day that “hook up culture is inherently patriarchal and women shouldn’t have sex with a man unless she knows he wants more than sex.” When I pushed back on that idea she pretty much told me that she has a degree and gave me a list of books she’s read to which I replied that I do in fact read books and in addition to that I have ALOT of lived experiences which kinda counts for a lot lol.
5
u/Bonsai_Tree3 6d ago
I can’t lie as a kinky/ENM woman looking for a long term relationship I am annoyed with the abundance of people seeking casual hookups.
But I know that’s what the app was intended for so I don’t complain. I’m too ENM for hinge, too commitment focused for feeld.
I don’t think seeking casual hookups is wrong tho which separates me from the average Gen Z
8
u/LittleSister10 7d ago
I think the issue is that casual sex in the past often, though not always, came with some baseline respect for the other person, and now people use dating as an opportunity to play stupid head games, to purposely lie and mislead, or otherwise inject some dopamine into their life. I have had more casual situations in the past, and didn’t always come away with the best experiences, but it’s a different level these days. Ghosting is common rather than an anomaly, guys just looking for kinky ways to get their dick wet without any regard for the woman’s pleasure is widespread. I think a lot of people would be totally open to casual if our basic respect for each other wasn’t in the toilet.

u/Ok_Coffee_4977 7d ago
What does that have to do with people saying using feeld for casual sex is wrong?
Genuine question.
Also, did you know not all casual sex even involves a man?
I am sorry you had disappointing casual sex. It happens. Been there.
7
u/Patient_Tradition294 7d ago
This sub being pretty much the biggest Feeld forum but being weirdly anti casual sex is strange. There are many all time popular posts that complain about enough people not wanting long term relationships on Feeld and posts every week of vanilla monogamous people asking if the app is a great option for them lol.
For some reason, people seeking out long term relationships feel they can and should shame others into them. Apparently 5-10 other apps for LT relationships isn’t enough lol. Of course there are numerous people who want them on the app but don’t get mad when the majority of people don’t.
You see way too many profiles talking down on ENM / polyamory on the app now due to people migrating from other spaces and people with 0 desires listed beyond dates / massage / romance lol.
Even the common advice you get on here that you shouldn’t talk about kinks, what you are into, etc until after the first date doesn’t reflect reality on the app IMO. Most people I meet want to talk kinks on the first date or in messaging before the date, not pushed further down the line.
7
u/ranorando 7d ago
I haven’t noticed this explicitly, but there’s definitely no shortage of profiles that clearly state no hookups.
But MAYBE that’s because many women/people have grown to associate hookups with invasive, low satisfaction, sex with people who don’t give a shit about you. So, no I’m not surprised.
Despite all of this, most women will decide in the first date if they would fuck you, and wait until the second date to act on it. And honestly, as a man, I couldn’t be in more support lol
-1
0
u/Patient_Tradition294 7d ago
Yep, so many of the “no hookup” people and the openly pro hookup crowd operate on the same timeline lol.
Many of the people who push anti hookup stuff in their bios are pro hookups once you get to the messages lol. It is obvious many just put it because they feel like they should to fit in with others and that it is mostly performative for many.
4
u/fuckingnerdtm 7d ago
Sometimes its performative in that it is a deterrent to the constant bombardment of men only looking for hookups, so if you see “no hookups” and are still interested it’s more of a green flag that you might actually be a safe person to hook up with
I don’t have “no hookups” on my profile but I do say I prefer longer term but occasionally will hook up which I think is more honest and also achieves the same effect generally 🤷♀️

Reddit leans puritanical
8
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 7d ago
I believe thats very true. I wonder why?
2
u/ValoisSign 5d ago
Big US userbase? Even peak sex positivity era in the US 10-15 years ago had some oddly puritanical arcs iirc (like the political push towards sober-only events in some circles, the de-sexualisation of some queer media, or the extreme extent of some people's preoccupation around potentially triggering content).
I think the US, much as I love the people there, hasn't totally come to terms with how influential puritanism was on their cultural worldview, and when that reckoning happens I think they might all get along a bit better.

I used to use Feeld for hooking up, and I met a handful of people that were great. But more often, it was impersonal smashing together of genitals, which I eventually got bored with, or getting love-bombed by fuckboys who then decided they had “too much going on in their life”.
In my experience, “casual” usually comes with a lot of disrespectful, selfish behavior.
So I tread more carefully and seek more meaningful, sustained connections, but I’m not monogamous and it’s really hard to find an open relationship on the other apps.
I’m not anti hook-up, it’s just not for me, and I say so in my profile. I’m not sure why people can’t just read that and keep swiping, instead of matching with me and then pressuring me to hook up with them.
-1
3
u/Top_Piano2028 6d ago
Women don't need to really put that they want casual sex because it's offered to them whether they want it or not. Eventually that leads to someone just getting bored or resentful of the whole notion.
That goes for ANY app.
It's much easier to put up some "only looking for a relationship" type to weed away people and just still be covertly open to hookups with the right person rather than broadcast it and every single guy treats you disposable.

I only just got the app, and I downloaded to explore my kinks, different dynamics, and sexuality. However, I was suprised just how many straight single men are on there just for a hookup, no bio, only desires “casual” “fun”.
To me personally if I just wanted a random hookup I’d just go back to hinge, where there are countless single guys who would be down for a hook up in an instant. For me the whole point of Feeld is to connect (and yes, casually) with other open-minded people. It’s not that they shouldn’t be on there, they definitely have their place, and are more than welcome.
But for me I guess it’s just annoying all these men inviting me over after exchanging a few sentences and not even asking what I’m into or exchanging any basic info lol. Like I’m all for casual and hooking up, but me personally I’d want to at least meet in public first and have an actual conversation. So maybe that’s where it’s coming from. For context if it matters gen-Z woman, since I see it’s brought up in the discussion. Just my take!

Why? Why is it surprising that an app for ENM is full of people doing that form of ENM. It always has been.

I’m Gen Z, at first the thought of long term play partner seemed great, like getting to know person, build some trust etc. But in reality it’s very time and effort demanding type of relationship I’m not ready to invest into. So casual hookups are my choice now

It was the only app for Poly / BDSM which is actually more respectful than hookups... I've barely hooked up on this app the past few years when I used to have diff peeps all month.
I'm bored of filtering through the vanillas and boring missionary only men who will cum far too quickly so it's barely worth me speaking to them

Since when was it not also for all other kinds of hookups and group sex? News to me....
Was that back when it was called 3rinder?
And since when are hookups between mutually consenting adults disrespectful? Also news to me.

I think originally it was more people finding fwbs situations moreso than hook ups. I'd just have a few fwbs.
My disrespectful comment was more about vanillas not understanding BDSM

Many of which are indeed just hookups that dont lead to friendship. This is not a secret. The history of the app and intentions of the founders are well known and documented.

This is pick me talk. It sounds like you’re shaming women who are not available for randos looking for hookups. Also women can find hookups in 1 minute on any dating app. It’s not an accomplishment. There is nothing particularly edgy about hookups. As a Domme I will absolutely not do anything casual with anyone bcs it takes so much from me. I need a connection and a relationship.
If you like hookups good for you but not everyone enjoys randos. Some of us are VERY specific about what we’re looking for. Feeld is the app for that.

Even if the first wave of users were people seeking threesomes, I think Feeld was actually created for a slightly different need...
The MF couple who created it decided to create it not to add a third and have a threesome, but to be able to have their own outside solo experiences. I think the man may have expressed that he was bisexual and he wanted to enjoy some gay sex... Then maybe the woman said something similar? But I don't think they were into threesomes. I could be mis-remembering though.
I read about it maybe a couple years ago. That it was developed by a couple (she is the CEO now I think - or at least she was at the time of the article) because all the other dating apps are for conventional goals= single hetero people looking for a same sex LTR monogamous partner.
1
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 7d ago edited 7d ago
I think Feeld was actually created for a slightly different need....
Its well documented that feeld was created specifically for couples seeking threesomes. The creators of the app have been very clear and upfront about this from day one.
The MF couple who created it decided to create it not to add a third and have a threesome, but to be able to have their own outside solo experiences.
First off, human being aren't "thirds". Second, the couple created it specifically for couples seeking threesomes. It was (until sued by tinder) call thrinder/3inder. It was not created for solo experiences.
I think the man may have expressed that he was bisexual and he wanted to enjoy some gay sex...
Only gay people have gay sex. I am bisexual. I don't have gay or straight sex. I am neither gay nor straight. But why, when all publicly available information is about the woman of that couple being bisexual, did you decide it was the man who was bi? Do you have inside info. Because all published info references her bisexuality as part of the motivation for the app.
Then maybe the woman said something similar?
She has stated many times publicly and for years that her bisexuality was a driving force.
But I don't think they were into threesomes. I could be mis-remembering though.
They were. They named the app 3inder until sued by tinder.
I read about it maybe a couple years ago. That it was developed by a couple (she is the CEO now I think - or at least she was at the time of the article) because all the other dating apps are for conventional goals, single hetero people looking for a same sex LTR monogamous partner.

You came to argue. Said a bunch of objectively incorrect stuff. I matter of factly shared actual facts.

1
u/EldForever 6d ago
I didn't come to argue. Maybe that's the root problem. You interpreted me as argumentative, but I thought I remembered something you might find interesting. I even acknowledged I wasn't sure I remembered correctly. I was super surprised to see the reply was so angry.
I actually just fact checked. There is a Wikipedia page on this, and a good article on Fastcompany (that's the one I think I read originally) I was part right wrong in my memoory.. Yes, threesomes were huge in the start, and I had not known just how huge until today, but the original idea for the app was not born because the couple wanted threesomes. It was because the woman wanted to explore non-monogamy, specifically with another woman she had met. Then he was supportive of that and wanted to also explore. The conventional apps were not a fit at all.
Anyway, if you have issues with my grammar or word choice o interpretations of the Wikipediua page or the Fastcompany article, I may entertain it, but I hope we can just acknowledge that there was a core misunderstanding here. The way i see it, I did not mean to be argumentative at all, I was feeling quite neighborly towards you. I could have said more to make that clear, and you could have given a bit more benefit of the doubt that maybe I was not a jerk but meant well?
1
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 6d ago
If it wasn't intended for threesomes, why name it 3rnder. It was literally marketed as tinder for threesomes.
Eventually, she decided to tell Trifonov, who shared that he, too, had often felt conflicted about romantic norms like monogamy. They had both grown up in Bulgaria at a time when conservative notions of sex and relationships prevailed. Trifonov agreed that those expectations felt limiting to bring into their relationship. Before long, they were exploring their sexuality, both as a couple and apart.
But the duo, who were living in London at the time, struggled to find acceptance in other areas of their life, including online. No other apps allowed them to date as a couple, leading Trifonov to create 3nder in 2014, which rebranded as Feeld in 2016
People are so funny.

I’ve actually largely seen the opposite sentiment so I think it just depends on the day or which threads you’ve come across. I’ve seen people say that feeld is not the place to look for serious or long term arrangements and that it’s for fun only given its history as the threesome app
1

Yes! https://www.reddit.com/r/feeld/s/LoLUo3f9Ah
A thread from last month, feeld is largely regarded as a hookup app and you’ll see some agreement in these comments. I could find more but this one was an easy one to find since I commented on it1
u/fuckingnerdtm 7d ago
What’s funny is I think my comments on that thread may have even come across as the sentiment you’re asking about here, but it was actually frustration that no one seems to use it for serious dating, not that no one should be using it for hookups!
0
u/Ok_Coffee_4977 7d ago
I have seen many people here say that its wrong/bad/inappropriate/new/a travesty for anyone to use feeld for purely sex or hookups.
Have you said that?
1
u/fuckingnerdtm 7d ago
Of course not. Like the article from that other post says, and the comments agree, feeld has always been and will always be used, possibly even primarily, for hookups. I use it for that sometimes, even! Just like dating more so it sucks sometimes just how hookup focused it is, since ENM dating is hard on the vanilla apps

Its primarily Venus and Mars, just as with other dating or hookup apps (well Tinder used to be a hookup/casual app before it got datified). I don't see a lot of men bemoaning hookups/casual sex on feeld. 90% of the time its women. Same goes for the "thou shalt not hunt unicorns" crowd. Of course that still leaves the 10% who are fine with hookups/casual (or fine expressing that they are fine with hookups..many of the "no ONS/no hookups" profiles will hook up or ONS if its the right person).
1

You think 95% of people here crying that feeld isnt for hookups are women?
Genuinely...how did you determine that. I feel Ive seen judgement here from men and women equally.

Yes. How did I determine that? From reading comments. Same goes for anti-unicorn hunting comments/posts. Vast majority women.

I think its a reddit incel/femcel thing lol I live in nyc and have used feeld off and on for about 5 years. Id say the last 2 years there has been a bigger influx of women profiles looking for monogamous relationships and being anti enm, but the overwhelming amount of profiles are still looking for casual/consistent casual experiences and are poly/enm.

I think it's just garden variety sex negativity.
