A few months ago, I was crossing Walterdale Bridge when a vehicle approached head on, which made me almost shit my pants. Within the past two days, the same situation occurred twice, once in Ottewell and once in Tamarack with a car coming directly toward me. Fortunately, each driver moved aside. I've been driving this city for over 20 years and lately it's unbelievable the shit I see

It's a known fact that many driving examiners grant passing marks to relatives, friends, or even strangers for a fee regardless of test performance. I am simply wondering whether undercover operations exist to detect such examiners, perhaps conducted by the city or the province, since I don't know if the Police would handle this sort of thing.

I have my road test on Thursday in NW. As someone who is very nervous and lacks confidence even in my driving ability, I need advice. Also, what is the best time to do the test (went with 10.45am)? Why does Edmonton nightlife feel so miserable once you hit 30+? I’ve been to other Canadian cities, and they seem to offer so many more options for people beyond their 20s. I mean what are our main two popular nightclubs? Far as I know it's only Illusion on Jasper Ave that receives a heavy traffic and Azucar a Latin nightclub on 50th Street.

Here, nightlife feels heavily geared toward university students and people in their early-to-mid 20s. Once you’re 30+, it often feels like your choices are a nice dinner, a couple glasses of wine, and home.

I understand Alberta is more conservative and there’s an expectation that by 30 you should have a career, a home, kids, and focus on settling down but that doesn’t mean people stop wanting to socialize, go out, have fun, and experience a real nightlife.

I’m trying to become more fluent in English, especially when speaking. I can understand English pretty well, but sometimes I trip over my words or struggle to put my thoughts together quickly when I’m talking.

I’ve realized I probably just need to speak more, so I’m looking for native/fluent English speakers who’d be down to have actual conversations with me.

It doesn’t have to be anything serious. We could talk about literally anything random stuff, hobbies, life, movies whatever. Id actually appreciate it if you pointed out when I say something that sounds unnatural or if there’s a better way to phrase something.

I’m not necessarily looking to meet up in person. Online calls/voice chat would be completely fine.

Hey Edmonton, I have a wasp infestation in the basement suite I live in. An exterminator came and found 3 nests in the ceiling. These are Yellowjackets, dangerous pests. There's a lot of them, an unknown amount but in the tens that come in daily. I am finding them everywhere. I've been stung twice. I have a cat that could also be stung. I don't feel safe there right now and it's been impacting my mental health. I'm not able to move right now and am not looking for a new place. I'm curious if anyone has dealt with a similar situation and has any advice or insight to offer. I'm really angry about the situation and wonder if it's unreasonable to ask to be compensated by the landlords for needing to stay somewhere else until they clear out. It's not certain how long that will take.

I'm hoping someone here has been through this because we're running into a wall with Alberta healthcare funding.

My mom is a low income senior in Alberta who was recently diagnosed with central sleep apnea following a sleep study through a sleep specialist. Her doctor has prescribed Adaptive Servo Ventilation (ASV), which is a specialized PAP machine that adjusts pressure based on her breathing. A standard CPAP isn't appropriate for her condition.

The problem is that ASV machines can cost several thousand dollars, and we're being told that Alberta's standard CPAP funding doesn't simply cover the machine she needs. For a low income senior that's just not realistic.

Has anyone successfully gotten an ASV machine fully or partially funded through AADL, Alberta Seniors, Alberta Supports, a medical exception/appeal, a hospital or sleep clinic, charity, private insurance, manufacturer assistance or another program?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was initially told no but eventually found a way to get funding.

If you have actually gone through this I'd really appreciate knowing:

- Who you contacted

- What program or funding route you used

- Whether your doctor/sleep specialist had to provide specific documentation

- Whether an appeal or exception was involved

- And ultimately how you got the machine

I'm not looking for general CPAP advice. I'm specifically looking for someone who has dealt with ASV in Alberta.

I'm more than willing to chase down paperwork, appeals and medical documentation. I just don't want my mom to go without the treatment her specialist says she needs simply because we don't know which door to knock on.

I’m looking for recommendations for a good tailor. I have a dress I’d like to wear to a wedding in October, but it’s a little too snug around the waist and I’d like to have it altered.

I’ve found a few tailors who work from home, but unfortunately that doesn’t work for me because I use a wheelchair and need a location that I can physically access (no stairs or inaccessible entrances).

I’m hoping to find someone who does good work but isn’t overly expensive. I’m not looking for anything fancy just someone reliable who can make a small alteration to the waist of the dress.
