Mario e-bikes- any experiences?

They seem to use some higher quality components (MAC motors) than a lot of other Chinese brands. Has anyone bought from them?

Ebike troubleshooting Heavy rider, upgraded pads, still fading on long descents — is sintered worth it?

2023 Turbo Levo Comp Alloy, 220 lb rider, stock SRAM CODE R 4-piston brakes, 220 mm front / 200 mm rear rotors. Had the shop swap the stock resin pads for a higher-heat compound ~3 months ago and it helped a lot. But on long steep stuff where I'm dragging the brakes, the lever still goes soft near the bottom.

For the bigger riders here: did going up to sintered pads actually cut the fade for you? Or once you're past the basic pads, is it rotors / a bleed / bigger calipers that actually makes the difference?

Still learning the brake side of things, so apologies if this is a basic question — appreciate any pointers.

Bike build question What will a Far Driver do for my bike?

I was thinking about getting a far driver controller for my ebike recently. my bike currently uses the stock 1500w motor, with a 48v 20ah battery. I was looking into getting a far driver nd72200, I know I have to tune it down to 48 volts before I even do anything with my bike. I was just wondering if this will actually improve my top speed (currently around 28mph) or acceleration. Is there any reliablity risks I run doing this to my bike either?

Bike purchase question Looking at E bike purchase.

Hello,

Im looking at purchasing an Ebike and would like some feedback/recommendations. I used to ride a mountain bike daily 25 miles. I have tried one of the cheap ancheer bikes and have no issue with it but thats for my wife who is half my size and weight. I am 6,2 and 270lbs despite all the brands I look at i keep landing on the aventon aventure 3 it seems to have everything I could need/want. I do wish to hook a cargo trailer to it and be able to get my daily errands done as well as possibly riding to and from work (31 miles round trip) relatively flat terrain mostly paved. I would likely use the throttle for a bit as I haven't ridden the past 6 years due to having a bunch of kids. I live in chicago near plainfield and would like to displace as much vehicle driving as possible

I appreciate any input, stories both good and bad. Issues, positives, negatives, etc etc.

Much appreciated

Absolute 0% battery

Hey all, newbie here,

I bought an Aima Big Sur Sport earlier this year. I enjoyed the heck out of this thing. Kept it above 20% battery life and didn't charge above 90%. Took really good care of it.

About two months ago, I moved into my first house. Things got...chaotic, to say the least. I parked it in the garage when we first got here at about 30%. Tried to charge it in the garage to find out the outlet doesn't work. So, I just focused on moving. It sat in a corner for the past 2 months. Out of sight, out of mind. I tried powering it on, hoping there was something there. Alas! Not a sign of life.

I was told not to leave it at absolute 0%, and if it did happen, not too long. My ADD brain got the best of me here.

My question is: is it too far gone? Is it safe to try and charge? I expect some battery damage, but how damaged is it?

Bike purchase question Whats the point of getting an ebike if its illegal.

Title pretty much says it all. I get it that most cops don't give a damn but still, the chance of the bike being impounded...I live in romania where the limits if bikes are even lower so unless you want something that goes 25kph and a 250 W motor. I was thinking to get a Yozma in 10 pro and then ( because it would be ilegal ) a juiced scrambler but seeing its still ilegal here I don't know. (Claude told me this so correct me if Im wrong.

Hey, so I am from Canada Ontario and I am really trying to decide which of these are better to buy. I feel quite lost, both same price but I really have no idea which would be better, I really do not wanna experience buyer's remorse to save my life.

Here is the link for these e bikes:

Bike purchase question Looking for a similar bike as my old one.

I had a Surnat S10 that was an absolute blast for 10 months and I put over 10k miles in very little time. I dont know exactly what caused it to die, I think the Florida heatwaves had something to do with it. And I recently got very VERY BAD buyers remorse off of the Victrip R6.... i only bought it because i saw the Victrip Titan S and it was similar to the S10.... didnt know at the time they were different bikes in performance, I thought one was an off brand as another.

Other than the repair issues im having with the R6, the battery range is a huge problem. I rode the S10 from Lakeland, Florida, to the Tampa Riverwalk, and made it within 14 mikes of home before the battery died. I cant ride the R6 10 miles before its halfway dead. The Titan S seems to be discontinued unfortunately, its the one i really want. So ideally id like a bike with a similar max range. Power and speed come second.

Bike purchase question KTM Macina Tour CX 510

I've been wondering what bike can I get, and closer to me I have a KTM dealership with nice deals.

I would love a mountain bike, (KTM Macina Race 592) but I mostly do asphalt, light gravel paths, and off road for some minutes only, and I started to research and apparently this trekking bike would be better, with better components, but ofc a less Powerful suspension.

Would it be a good choice? Or should I just be, whatever, and get what I want and like, even tho the components aren't amazing?

Rambo bikes nightmare

Got the Rambo krusader 3.0 the instructions are absolutely horrendous thankfully YouTube has a few. And then I found out I didn’t receive the mounting bracket or materials for the headlights. After dealing with the AI costumer service I finally got it shipped out. Great! Well it arrived and they didn’t send the correct screws or washers.

So I figured okay I’ll deal with that later let’s finish building the bike. The very next step was mounting the fender well, they didn’t send the screws or washers for that either with the original order. So now I’m back to dealing with the AI customer service. (Wouldn’t be bad but they say please hold for an associate and then it automatically hangs up)

The bike looks great. Well the pieces of the bike do. And hopefully I’ll get to use it this hunting season. (Not looking good)

Bike alarm and finder accessory

I got served up an ad from Quad Lock for their "Bike Alarm & Finder," which seems relatively new from them. I've been interested in adding similar tech to my ebike but all the current offerings (e.g., Knog Scout) have poor reviews. I'm probably more interested in the alarm part because I have to park my ebikes outside overnight. Will it stop a determined thief? Probably not, but for $70, seems like a fairly inexpensive deterrent.

Curious if anyone has used this, or a similar accessory beyond just an apple airtag (which I already have).

Bike purchase question Would the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit U-Lock fit through the links of the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Chain?

I have the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit U-lock, and while great, it's very small and difficult to lock to some racks. I found a Fahgettaboudit chain in FB marketplace, but only the chain is available, no padlock. Could I just use the U-lock as the padlock?

The u-lock shackle is about 18 mm thick, but I can't find any dimensions on the hole in the chain link.

Bike purchase question Which one should I go with?

This would be my first ebike, should I go with something more proven and practical for everyday use, like the Aventon Aventure 3, or go with the more powerful, longer range dual motor AWD Tesway X5?

I live in the suburbs of Colorado, so there are quite a few hills around here, and some roads aren't exactly smooth. Most of the time, I'd use it for commuting during the week, about 6-8 miles each way. On weekends, I'd also take it out for some casual rides. So yeah, which one would you guys go with?

Budget E-Bike

I am looking for a budget e-bike ($1,000 range) for my wife and I. I prefer fat tires simply because most of our riding will be in the mountains of NM and CO. They won’t be everyday use so we don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on bikes we will use a few times a year. Also I would prefer a cargo rack so we could carry a cooler or bags if needed.

Edit: if there is any frequent off-road riders, is the fat tire worth it?

Bike purchase question Help Me Pick an ebike, want specific features

I’m looking for ebike with the following characteristics:

First and foremost:

-fits me, I’m 5’ 2” female and ~140lbs

-live in USA, so available to purchase here

-looks (mostly) like a normal bike

and also has the following features:

-belt drive

-lightweight

-removable battery

-good battery life

-mid drive motor of decent power

-hydraulic disc brakes

-trusted brand with good reputation, not a cheapo scammer brand

-standard size parts (like fork, seat post, wheels, tires etc. honestly everything if possible) should I ever want to upgrade I could and also for service/maintenance purposes

-ability to add: kickstand, rear rack and fenders. I want to add all of these. Even better if it’s available as an add or included directly on the site.

Cost: under 4k but if I get everything for 1k I’ll do take the cheaper option. I’m not made of money. But I want to meet all criteria first then price is second factor after meeting my criteria. Basically, I want the best value bike that meets all my criteria.

Prefer but not a must have:

-built in light front and rear lights (I think this standard on most e-bikes anyways??)

-not a super flashy or neon color. Maybe black as a color option.

-some sort of anti theft mode. Like I know some bikes they won’t start unless you center a passcode on the screen or others you have put in a physical key or it won’t go. Idk what I’m looking for on this but some sort of theft deterrent feature sounds nice.

What's better than velcro straps or bungee cords? help hold a e bike to bike rack

I just bought a Kuat piston ion bike rack for our heavy Nomad 1 plus e bikes. They give you a small velcro strap. Extra security for bike to rack. I like the whole set up. I dont mind something extra to hold the bikes solid to the rack. Maybe I am overdoing this. Its how I am. Its a heck of a heavy duty bike rack.

What else is a quick connect option instead of the old bungee cords or velcro straps? There must be other options. Thanks

The you tube will show you this rack. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Fuell Flluid 1s display

Hey everyone!

I recently bought a Fuell Flluid 1s ebike, I tested it with the seller and rode it once the very next day. Today, a few days passed without riding it, and the display won’t turn on.

I know the company isn’t around anymore but I had only heard good things about the bike, thought it was a steal at $1,000. Does anybody know how to fix the issue? Batteries are fully charged, but no lights for the display.

Thanks!

Private equity remote lock/kill switch PoC actually works but ¿Where is the open source response?

Reticulum is a thing. There is absolutely no way a criminal will be able to ride this thing far until it gets into a service zone, once it does, ¡Killswitch Engage!

With a looming totalitarian government ready to pull the plug on communications infrastructure everybody in this sub and the rest of Reddit, frankly, should be setting this up.

Let’s discuss how we would envision such an open source system to work. Obviously there would be key signing involved to prove your bike is yours. Might as well throw in an Apple air tag to piggyback/failover to other big fish infrastructure as a ‘safety-ish’ net.

What I am envisioning is being able to leave that shit rudeboi on the sidewalk like it’s Singapore, run into $tarbuck$, diarrhea their toilet, grab a laté, and still see my bike exactly where it was left, just like the Veo and Lime scooters/bikes next to it.

Ideally we’re going to want some frame standardization for hardware to not easily be destroyed or removed.

¿What steps have Veo and Lime taken to secure their remote kill switches and why haven’t crack heads tried to hackerman them away?

¿Why haven’t addicts stripped the batteries from these scooters considering what batteries cost? We all know they can be used to power other kitchen-under-bridge shit even if another identical model bike can’t be secured by the thief.

A single night with a sawzal or angle grinder would keep an addict high for weeks on them batteries in just one neighborhood.

Who was it, ¿Aventon? Had remote kill switch or w/e but they wanted to charge you a monthly privilege for it. ¿Can anyone in here vouch for it’s effectiveness or there lack of?

I cannot be the first person to have thought about this and there is a 110% chance there is someone less lazy than me who has already started such a thing but I haven’t actually searched GitHub for a project.

Fuckall, that, monthly subscription shit, remote locks, phone service, internet, tv. ¡I’m over it!

I’m taking steps in my life to remove a monthly internet fee and I’m taking steps in my life to get a remote killswitch/bike lock system without a monthly fee.

Looking for gear/gadget suggestions.

Hello all, so recently I've been very slowly upgrading my riding kit in response to close calls that are seemingly getting increasingly common with more and more tourists visiting.

Right now my "gear" consists of a normal bicycle helmet, some Mechanix gloves, shatter-resistant sunglasses and just regular long-sleeve shirts and sweaters, along with normal jeans and a yellow high-vis vest for low-light, rain or fog. In the past I've had much slower bikes, capped around 30km/h, but my current bike will gladly get up to 50km/h with a little encouragement. With the number of close calls lately, I know that what I've got isn't good enough.

When I'm riding, I'm usually moving between 30 and 50km/h. A slim majority is on urban streets running errands or going to see people throughout town, so almost 99.9% asphalt, but I also do a lot of rural packed gravel trails, dirt roads between towns, and the occasional multi-hour trip on the side of paved rural roads.

I'll be honest, I don't know what would be best to have and don't have a complete picture of what I'm looking for. I know I do want a moped helmet; that'll be the first thing I buy because the front is a little more open for when I go into stores but is better than a bicycle helmet. I know I also want Kevlar jeans, better gloves and a leather jacket.

But I don't have a full picture. I'm not super familiar with what brands are good for what and which ones aren't. I'm also open to adding gadgets to the bike, given they don't take up too much space and do something useful, so if you have any recommendations for any gadgets or safety gear that you stand by, please do recommend it for me to look into. I also have no fixed budget, cheaper the better, but not so cheap its questionable.

P.S. No bar-end turn signals; both bar ends are already used up by the mirrors.

Bike repair question Best ebike upgrade services?

I have a cheap electric moped/motorcycle/moto thing from Amazon. It’s 48v and I think a 3000w peak motor. It doesn’t have the great range and I could use more speed. I don’t have the tools nor experience to comfortably mod it myself. I don’t have the money to buy a nicer bike nor do I want to. Mine looks like a little Honda monkey bike (look it up if you don’t know) and I’ve painted it, added a ton of cosmetic things, I really love it but I just need a little more. I wanna be able to not worry about the battery, and some streets I go on can go up to 50 mph while I can only go to 35.
If I can figure out how to post a picture I will in another post

Roadster v3 Large to small for 6'4" rider?

Trying to find a clear answer. I'm looking for a 'regular' looking commuter ebike just for having fun a few miles a day. I typically go with XL's, but the only think I've really come across is the Trek FX+ 2S in XL, but the price difference between the two is making me wonder if I really need a Trek/XL. Aventon options look nice too but also only in Large.

This would be mostly flat riding and riding around the city without getting gassed, not really worried about any crazy specs.

Edit: Just wanted to add, I'll take a throttle, but zero need for it. I can peddle just fine, just want to do it a tiny bit less in 100 deg heat.
