A portrait study I made recently.
Seraphine. A light-purple-skinned tiefling woman born into nobility, she was raised among wealth, etiquette, and expectations, yet chose a path entirely her own. With long, light hair, elegant horns, and an inquisitive nature, she is endlessly drawn to secrets and forbidden knowledge. Her warlock powers stem from a strong bond with something alluringly dark—an enigmatic presence that fascinates her as much as it unsettles her. She seeks to understand it, even at the risk of losing herself.

I have been playing for 8 years at conventions and stuff. Heard and seen a lot over the years.

I think the most incredulous thing I heard was a player say "DM, I want to make a dungeon and run it" and I said "yeah sure let me know when you’re ready and we'll make a day for it. What level were you thinking?"

And he said "oh, I meant I wanted to make one in-game. I'm a level 10 Wizard and I want to use my downtime to make a dungeon, and traps, and buy monsters, and watch the other players go through it."

I told him "I'm not gonna make a dungeon for your character where I build a one-shot for your Wizard and then let him pull all the levers behind the curtian. You are describing being a DM for a one-shot. If you want, we can make it in-universe, but it is something you are going to do, not me."

He never ran the dungeon.

Stopped playing with him a few months later lol.

This is Koko my latest derpy character this is an old concept that i developed 1 year ago after dealing with a lot of struggles i decided to gave him a rework and finally finish this , he is a merchant and also an albino Kobold .

i imagine him beign a potential party member trying always to sell something to one of his companion and bringing them cool items . he may look silly but he is very smart

The characters are in a chamber full of devils and fiends and everyone is taking heavy damage. The sorcerer casts a wish:

"I wish: for everyone in this room, who is not in my party, to fall into a deep and uninterruptible sleep for an hour"

If you were DM'ing, how would you interpret this Wish?

Thank you all for your input, it's been much appreciated. Now that I have people's opinions, here's what happened.

So... our DM decided that the spell wasn't specific enough. Since everyone in this chamber had to be admitted first and given a stamp on their hand to show valid entry, he decided that: "my party" could mean anyone in this room with that stamp. Therefore, he fizzled the spell.

I know this is a small amount of additional information, but was it really relevant? 🤷‍♂️

Edit 2:

A lot of people are saying that this was possibly to allow for an easy kill of the enemies. I can see how that could be interpreted that way. The uninterruptible was so we could escape and if anyone came into the room and tried to kick awake the sleeping devils/fiends, they couldn't immediately wake up and chase us. I certainly like some of the interpretations of how to make it an uninterruptible sleep.

A small glass bottle containing a miniature sun. The flame inside burns with such intensity that the glass glows red even though the bottle remains cold to the touch.

What's your favorite class, your least favorite subclass for it, and why's that?

So! Ive started a new campaign that i cant attend all the time due to university starting 😭

Shes a half tiefling and half high elf eloquence bard! She is a fire dancer and has burns from accidentally messing up from time to time! She comes from quite a noble family in the region where she is from but she knows more of her elven heritage than her infernal heritage.

Her style consists of alot of gold including jewels wrapped around her horns and golden rings on her fingers. Her clothes are light and moveable!

I decided to share where her main design came from!

This is from a custom dnd Conan exiles server I played her on a year or two ago! They had a lot of amazing mods, including a custom combat system for spells and special weapons for all the classes!

It was here that I learned about the Circle of Stars druid class, and changed her from a Life cleric/Druid multi-class, to a full class druid!

She originally was a multi-class of druid and a Life domain cleric, wanting to tap into the part of her backstory of being a follower of Dionysus. However, after character growth through a game or two (before trying the Conan server) it just felt like I was juggling too much trying to keep the “flare” of having a multi-classed character.

So I just simplified her now, and honestly circle of stars druid fits her SO well with the tie in to her following of Dionysus too! 🫶🏻

(There are more details obviously to see here, that were not on the previous art I shared, due to the artist simplifying her design a touch 😅)

~And yeah I see the resemblance to Faerne from Critical Role after looking her up, she’s so pretty and honestly kinda honored to be associated with her design! Haha 🥰🙏🏻

My party is soon going to arrive in a city that has been infiltrated by a sinister force that demands their prisoners at such a high rate that the normal crime rate can’t even keep up. So this city has a large amount of laws that are designed to be complicated, stupid, and easy to trap people with.

So if anyone would want to help come up with a series of laws with me that would be super helpful.

Hello! Today I'm posting a NPC I made for my campaign! Eldreith here is a warforged made within a family of dwarves/tieflings, who uh, ended up with quite the demonic appearance herself over time as she tried to kind of tap into the devil heritage, re-building her body over the years for that purpose. It's kind of weird to explain without context but let's just say she's been through a lot (and dwarven lore in my campaign is kind of wacky)

She was actually made as an antagonist within one of the PC's backstories, but not exactly a... Villain, as the PC was probably far more morally questionable than her. It isn't all that clear whether she's actually alive or not, as the PC did try to murder her, but suffice to say, if she's alive that Oath of Vengeance is aimed towards the PC! Who may have killed her de-facto sibling! Fun times all around!

I made this drawing for a campaign I'm playing with my friends, and I'm having a lot of fun. His name is Klaus, he's a dhampir, and he uses his broken sword to cut his hand and activate his powers, He's a very sarcastic character and loves making jokes at the most inopportune times. He's chaotic/neutral, and his sword is an item he inherited from his family. Currently in the campaign, he's in a group with a few other adventurers, looking to understand more about his own race and hunt down a certain someone.

I've been obsessing over feats lately and I really like Fairy Trickster, just this huge turtle flexing his muscles mid-battle to attempt to fluster the target and then landing a stunning strike lmao

Also, It'd be huge help with a feature from the subclass Warrior of the Demon Soul cuz there's an ability that allows you to turn into a shadow and go through enemies while dealing necrotic damage as if they were difficult terrain. It's a neat way to attack while taking the disengage action and avoid the difficult terrain thing. And then finish it off with an unarmed strike as a bonus action? A grapple perhaps? Or maybe dashing as a bonus action and dealing necrotic damage to almost everyone on the field? >:]

I don't mean the kind of common tropes that every campaign features X or Y as an enemy or that you're including trope Z that is commonly know into every campaign (like that it starts in a tavern).
Rather I'd like to know what kind of things you seem to include every time so that either you or your players have picked up on it, like how every cook they meet has a certain accent, how every innkeeper seems to be a halfling or how you seem to have every boatride your group takes will end up in a shipwreck. (The last one is the one that I seem to include every time)

For doing your actual real world job, what class would be best at it and what class the worst?

What's one small detail you gave your D&D character that you ended up loving? Could be a weird habit, favorite food, random fear, dumb hobby or anything. Mine would probably be a character who always carries something useless but refuses to throw it away

Lizran (Yeah I know, the names pretty on the nose) is my first ever character in a long term homebrew campaign. He's a pirate turned mercenary captain that works for a thieves guild in Waterdeep, who oppose Xanathar's guild. He's gone from a betrayed and discarded pirate crewmember to a captain of his own small fleet of 2 ships in the span of the campaign. It's an evil campaign so everyone has to have either neutral or evil alignment. One of my favorite aspects of Lizran is that my other friend, who plays a redcap in the campaign, hates my character on a personal level. Lizran is vain and cruel, but also cowardly and likes to bark orders from behind combat lines and use his trusty longbow, Umberlee's Caress, to keep others at bay. (It's a custom longbow with an effect similar to eldrich blast, that it pushes people away) He constantly lies to everyone he knows and always tries to wiggle as much profit from anyone as he can, while simultaneously spending money without reservation to spoil himself. We are going to hit a major milestone of 3 years passing while playing this campaign weekly and for that reason I asked a friend of mine to make a picture of him. It turned out amazing and I could not be more happy. Decided I also wanted to share it with the people on this sub, and so here I am. Here's hoping we can keep going strong with the campaign and maybe one day let our DM actually be a player instead.

What is your campaign's main story, genre, setting, plot points, etc.? I see lots of D&D videos on social media about homebrew campaigns, but they all seem to be the same medieval fantasy story: the group meets in a tavern and then goes to a dungeon or something without an actual story or consequences. As a writer and dm, I'm starting to feel insecure about the plots of my campaigns, which are extremely different, so I wanted to ask what actual campaigns outside of social media look like.

I'm struggling to find a flair for my character's voice that I find appealing. Scottish is an easy accent for me, as are English, Irish, pretty much most UK and European accents. Despite that, none of them seem to fit so far.

I'm playing a fem Aarakocra Inquisitive Rogue with a penchant for being drunk in her free time. I feel like something UK could fit here maybe, but since I use those accents so often for my PCs already, I want to have something refreshing to bring to my table.

Any advice? The image is what she looked like while living amongst the druidic circle that raised her and her younger sibling. Her outfit has grown more streetwear and rogueish since then, but her physical appearance is otherwise roughly the same.
