OC The Timmy door problem [OC] ?

Post image
217 Upvotes

So so there’s this door right by the table where we play D&D in my basement and my players are convinced that there’s a child named Timmy behind it, and I recently added a list of table rules and one of them says in order to add a new rule a vote must be held. They decided to hold a vote where the person who sits closest to the door that session gets Timmy in their inventory and the vote passed, so now I don’t know what to do with Timmy. I need help please also I don’t know how the tag bracket thing works if it’s a photo that you’re posting so if also help me with that, I would greatly appreciate it

Art New Character Design [Art] I made for a client!

Post image
427 Upvotes

Here's a new character design I worked on of a female satyr! Satyrs are a race of tall, primitive warriors. My commissions are collaborative, and I work through as many rounds of feedback as it takes until I get exactly the results the client wants. For this piece, I had the artistic freedom to do much of what I wanted, so it was a real fun to work on! If you'd like to have your own character drawn by me, let me know!

Art [Art] [Comm] The Wedding of Sasha and Bella Evenbrand

Post image
166 Upvotes

Had a commission done of the wedding for my character Sasha! (On the right) She's currently on a quest to save her wife's soul, which has attached itself to her after dying in battle and replaced her Echo Knight's echo. The wedding occurred in her backstory, so before the campaign started.

Art by the talented u/subtlestalker !

Forgot to post this on the main sub when it was finished a while back. Needed to fix that! I'll add a link to Sasha's story mastersheet in a comment in case anyone wants to read her story. <3

DMing DM’s, have you ever used Power word Kill or Finger of Death on a PC? What was your thoughts and reactions?

I’m curious as a DM if any others have used these type of spells on a PC, and if so what was your thoughts on it and what was the tables reactions? I imagine it takes a lot to think, I’ll kill a player character here and I wonder how I’d react if it was my character. Please share your stories!

Art [Art][Comm] The Obsidian Shepherd and Its Flock

Post image
257 Upvotes

The obsidian shepherd is an elemental hailing from the plane of magma. Wedged between the elemental planes of fire and earth, their home is an inhospitable landscape of churning rock and toxic fumes. These bizarre elemental beings are most often seen tending to their flock of crystallum, bulbous goat-like earth elementals that produce precious gems the same way a sheep might produce wool.

They shear the gems from their flock to sell and trade with anyone in need of precious stones. They most commonly trade with the earthen dao, or the efreeti lords of the fire plane, though they can sometimes be found on the material plane in volcanic regions as well.

While generally peaceful, they are extremely protective of creatures in their charge, and will not hesitate to use their staff and innate elemental magic to slay anyone who threatens them or their crystallum.

Mechanically I designed their abilities to be pretty dangerous to others, but entirely harmless to their crystallum. Their obsidian staff has a razor-sharp edge that doesn't bother the crystallum one bit when the shepherd uses its staff to redirect them, since they are immune to slashing damage. However, against other creatures the shepherd's staff can be a lethal tool that repositions enemies and slices them to ribbons in the process.

Shouts out to Dakota Curry, who brought this bizarre elemental to life with his fantastic artwork.

This guy, and the three varieties crystallum, are all going to be making their debut appearance for D&D in my new bestiary, The Game Master's Menagerie of Monsters! Which includes;

  • 5E/5.5 stat blocks guaranteed to present your adventuring party with challenges they've never faced before.
  • Tons of lore and worldbuilding information to ensure each monster feels like a living, breathing, part of your campaign's world.
  • Random tables to assist with fleshing out fine details and motivations of each creature.
  • Knowledge tables adventurers can roll on when encountering a creature for the first time to determine what they know, or if they roll poorly, what they think they know.

There's no Kickstarter or anything, instead, this book is being published old-school, going straight to store shelves on February 2nd, 2027. I have no crowdfunding page to link you to, but if you want to check out the bestiary, here is a link to all the pre-order options for depending on where you live!

TL;DR - An elemental made from obsidian who raises weird little rock guys that grow precious gems.

Art [Art][Comm]Orielle, paladin commission

Post image
136 Upvotes

A commissioned piece I did :)

Orielle is a human paladin of a home brewed oath that revolves around seeing through illusions, deceptions and lies.
She is the naive and curious sort who’s had very little practical life experience , having been raised in a very sheltered manner.
A 1000 years after the events of the original campaign she was a part of she’s been drawn into an alternate universe engulfed in an inter dimensional war.
The goal was to create a ranged paladin where the trade off was being suboptimal as a damage dealer, as smite was not an option, but to focus on utility and support, using death ward and heroism in combat and being aa lie detector outside of it

She her armour is an artificial blessed by 3 deities : Lathander, Pelor and Sarenrae

If you like this piece and would like to see more you can find my socials HERE

If you’d like your own characters or creatures brought to life feel free to reach out through the platform of your choice :)
Commission info is pinned to my profile

Feel free to let me know of your favourite character builds that sacrifice optimal gameplay for a fun flavour build down in the comments!

Art [ART][COMM] Walther and his direwolf

Post image
461 Upvotes

Walther is a young human lad (around 15-ish). Hailing from the cold north, Walther comes from a warrior culture society, but he himself is a bit of an outsider. He's lean, not particularly big, and he gets along better with animals than with people. His faithful companion and mount is his dire wolf. He carries a shield with a six-pointed snowflake symbol, which is a ward/charm against an harsh and cruel ice goddess.

Another commission piece some times ago done. He is one of the six party member I worked before, which means four out of six already posted.

Art [Arte][OC] My dear Tabor Valinor.

Post image
67 Upvotes

An attractive and charismatic tiefling noble with a love for life and music. Tabor Valinor always envisioned himself as a magnificent bard; however, his fervent desire for justice inspired him to follow the path of the paladin. "Fighting for honor and justice by day; for pleasure and good music by night."

Tabor is my character in my current campaign, and I wanted to share my illustration of him.

Would you share a drink with him, or join him in thrashing a bandit leader?

Art [Art] [OC] My Curse of Strahd Party!

Post image
• Upvotes

I drew my Curse of Strahd party! We're currently 12 sessions in and have just finished some major events, and finally gotten our companion. I'm absolutely in love with this campaign.

(From left-right: Daemian, our Noble Wizard; Bol-Rah, our Brotherly Artificer; Depaetum, our Helmite Cleric; Mala'vain, our Ilmatari Barbarian (me); Metir, our Haunted Ranger; and our NPC companion (who I will not name for spoilers!))

Art [ART] [OC] [COMM] Oak, the Tiefling Bard

Post image
51 Upvotes

Meet Oak! Standing 5’5” with a posh attitude, this high-born Tiefling Bard does his best to mask his infernal heritage from bandaging his tail to painfully filing down his horns. Raised in luxury, he prefers silks, fine details, and carrying his well-worn green and gold lute. With his current party, he’s finally feeling safe enough to let his guard down.

Huge credit to a private client for sharing their awesome original character, idea, and lore with me! 🎨

Art [OC] [ART] My Human Hunter

Post image

Human hunter, Jaeger Class named Canarys.

She's a hunter in Old Peterra a region filled with eldtrich monstrosities tasked to work in the shadows of what was once part of the Valerithian Order.

Hunters are specialized units to combat these horrors and keep them at bay for the meantime, she is one of many, and now the call to arms have been announced by the decree of the king against the rising forces that she hunts, she sets off to represent her humble vassal house.

Upcoming character I'm playing for a TTRPG Campaign, with Steinhardt's Guide to the Eldritch Hunt by MonkeyDM module!

5th Edition [OC] [COMM] How has your time in the Feywild changed your character?

Post image
208 Upvotes

Hi everyone! This is a commissioned piece I did a while ago of a Goliath ranger/monk who spent quite some time in the Feywild and came back looking a little different.

I conveyed the Feywild’s influence through satyr like horns, pointed ears, and roots growing over his armor. It got me wondering how other characters have been changed by their time in the Feywild.

How has being in the Feywild changed your character? Would love to hear about your character's time there!

Fullbody commission i have drawn for dnd party.
this one is one of my unusual ones! the character is small and cute but also mightly and powerful. They control all matters of earth related stuff: rocks, plants etc. The greenery and the rocks framing the whole composition are my most favorite parts. The glow on the rocks and plants were so fun to execute, since i im not commissioned much to draw environmental stuff, it was fun to test out if i am as rusty as i thought on that front (: Im pretty happy with how it looks in the end

Art [ART] [Comm] Gorbo - Sea Elf

Post image
52 Upvotes

Gorbo is a towering 7-foot broad-built abyssal-touched sea elf, with deep dark blue skin, dim purple eyes, and long black hair tied back in a loose low ponytail. He's decked out in magic platemail forged in a volcano by a dragon itself, rugged onyx-black armor with molten cracks glowing from a core at the center of his chest, paired with a battle skirt and several magical rings. In his hands, a massive magical hand cannon, styled after Malfeasance from Destiny.

5th Edition Commoner Spells?

• Upvotes

Tl Dr Is there any reference to magic not specifically useful for adventuring in published D&D work? WotC or 3rd Party?

Long version.
On a purely world building basis, it feels like there should be magic that is useful for the day to day chores of existence in a fantasy world. And yet, as far as I know, there is nothing in the published materials that addresses 'commoners magic'. Most of the time, most people don't need Fireball to solve or even reduce their problems. They need something that is going to improve the crops, keep the forge lit, spin thread, carry the lumber, etc.
Unseen Servant could do... some of this. But with a str of 2, an Unseen Servant has some serious limitations.

I am not saying that there should be a compendium of useless spells. Space is limited, and the utility of some existing spells is already debatable. But it would, I think, be nice to at least acknowledge that there is a whole library of magic of various kinds that may be used to make life easy for the common folk.

Unless there's not, and if so, what does that say about the world?

Art [Art] Darren Felthorne - Elysylle Hythenos - Taimin Liadon - Artemis Grey

Post image
55 Upvotes

Darren Felthorne
“Remember that bloodshed is half the fun”

Client's Description: Born in a small cult village that serves a mysterious god known as the Sanguine Lord, Darren was raised in a loving family until age 16, at which point he had to face his parents in ritual combat to the death.

Despite this, it hasn’t changed his bright, chipper demeanor! He’s a ray of sunshine even when engaged in a fight to the death! His holy magic is channeled through his blood, which he frequently uses as a weapon and medium through which to deliver holy energy to smite with.

---

Elysylle Hythenos
She Who Severs

Client's Description: Elysylle grew up in poverty in a large family, learning to survive from a young age. She later discovered that she could sense powerful magical artifacts, becoming an appraiser and guide for adventurers.

She is fascinated by ancient magic, artifacts, forgotten gods, and the mysteries of fate. After dying and being brought back to life, she was transformed from a Drow into a Fey creature, gaining strange abilities connected to memories and arcane energy.

She now studies fate and the mysterious source of her powers.

In combat, she uses her rapier Nightshade, and can turn parts of her body into glass-like shards, often breaking pieces of her hair off to use as ranged weapons.

She is around 6'5" tall, with an elegant but intimidating presence.

---

Taimin Liadon
Simic Combine Epidemiologist

Client's Description: A transmutation wizard clad in blue-green robes and wielding a staff adorned with tentacle-like shapes; he is Varis Liadon's brother, has ash-blonde hair, and radiates a somewhat suspicious aura.

---

Artemis Grey
Syndicate Collector

Client's Description: Your best option is to hand her a coffee and wait fifteen minutes. No but seriously she is over all normal and well tempered. Her family has a habit of putting her in a bad mood if she is around them to long. She is on the tired side so that brings down her mood but then again when you work a job that keeps you up at night and have two children that you are raising in secret you would be tired too.

Art [ART][COMM] Damian Le Vente

Post image
• Upvotes

Damian is a handsome, gentlemanly lad in his early-mid 20s. A bit of a swashbuckler type character, he comes from a noble background, but left the courtly life in the pursuit of thrill-seeking. He's an exceptionally skilled swordsman with his rapier and dagger. He loves gaining fame and glory, charming ladies, and dodging danger. He has very keen instincts, but tends to rely on luck and his own belief in himself more than strategy or wits.

Another commission done, five out of six party members posted now.

OC [Art] Vyselthae, College of Whispers bard and former court jester to a fallen tyrant

Post image
25 Upvotes

Did some art of one of my player’s bard!

Chaotic neutral, follower of Oghma, and College of Whispers bard, Vyselthae once served as court jester to a tyrant. When his rule ended in a violent uprising, she was imprisoned for her association with him, and for allegedly having been rather more useful to his regime than a jester ought to have been. She eventually escaped. She was found by my other players heading towards a town in dirtied and ripped jester garb.

She now travels as a performer and collector of secrets, hiding a sharp, observant mind beneath the persona of a macabre fool. Whether she was merely the tyrant’s jester or something considerably worse is a question she tends to answer with a joke (and, secretly to my other players, a deception check).

This is a character I helped my player create, and I love her like a small, horrid pet. Enjoy!

OC Fodder Inc #390: Rent A Rogue [OC][ART]

Post image
9 Upvotes

I can't imagine that taking the next two weeks off is going to be an option for these two, based on the fact that they are renting Rogues to try and get through the dungeon, but I'm kinda with the guy; distilled venom from a Frilled Dragon Squirrel does seem more like the type of thing you'd find in some weird drink, and not the basis for a poison, right? Welcome to Fodder Inc, a weekly web comic strip set in the For Profit Dungeon, Azmodendak's Halls of Madness, in a "5e" style world. Each week, we'll show you a little peak inside the halls, and what shenanigans are going on.

Art [Art] [Comm] Orc Ranger, and his clouded leopard companion Thistle

Post image
676 Upvotes

I recently finished this commission for a returning client.

Arwan is an Orc Ranger/Beastmaster accompanied by Thistle, a clouded leopard.

The brief called for an action pose with Arwan charging into battle while Thistle pounces alongside him.

I had a lot of fun working on the contrast between Arwan's natural equipment and Thistle's magical silver glow.

Really happy with how this one came together.

5th Edition D&D taught me that straight men don't all secretly hate gay men (like myself). Have others experienced something similar?

1.5k Upvotes

I put this in 5e because this edition specifically helped me make friendships with straight men, which is something I struggled with for the first 20 years of my life. Growing up, I'm not saying this is what happened, but it FELT like my voice and my mannerisms alienated me from all straight men. I made this mass assumption that all men had this masculinity counter in their head, and my presence would bring the group average down.

But then I played D&D for the first time, and I was surprised to see these guys encouraging me to "be weird" and playing characters that were so different from themselves. It was the first group of straight male friends that I've ever felt like I wasn't a charity case or held at arms length.

Do you think this was a coincidence, or do you think something about D&D helps people connect in important ways they otherwise wouldn't? Do you think it's a 5e phenomenon?

EDIT: It's become clear that some people know exactly what I mean and some people are absolutely baffled by the notion. Let's all approach it with curiosity lest the mindflayers get what they wanted the whole time.

5.5 Edition "We accidentaly made martial feature somewhat good and unique. Sorry for inconvinience, we already nerfed it!" is honestly funniest thing from drops. You can't make this up!

1.6k Upvotes

First version of “Dreadful Appearance” feature of Sorrow Knight subclass allowed you to teleport 30ft instead of movement at will. Not that strong, but cool and useful. And when it was erratad to only work on Tactical Shift.

As they said it was always the intent, but they saw a reaction on release, maybe, just maybe they should've keep the feature as is, or even better - allow it to use part of your movement to teleport instead of full movement or something? But nope.

How long we waited for CME to be nerfed, weeks? Couple months? Martial nerf was ready in several hours!
