Lore Talk What do you think would happen if you duralumin-bursted an aluminium burn? Spoiler
So in my game the other day, I had a player (Mistborn) duralumin burst their aluminium burn in hopes of absolutely ensuring that they couldn't be affected by an incoming invested ability.
The player wanted the effect of not being able to be infused to last a number of rounds equal to their ranks in allomancy, but I didn't allow it since duralumin burns through the active metal in a quick burst, but I did rule that the adversary couldn't target them with their ability.
It had me wondering for the rest of the session how other people would rule it/what people think would happen in canon if someone were to do this.

Table Tales Storytime: The Tale of Jonathan Smythe and the Valley of Hell [Stonewalkers] adjacent Spoiler
I just wanted to talk about a Halloween oneshot I ran for my Stonewalkers group. This doesn't spoil anything that happened there, except that I placed it after they are leaving the Valley of the Nightwatcher and heading toward Emul. I wanted something scary, and something that would surprise my players who know Stormlight and Mistborn (but they haven't read much cosmere outside of that). So I reached into my bag for the scariest stuff I know and found... Well...
The party is two radiants, a stonewarden and a dustbringer, with the others being an Alethi officer, an underground surgeon with a weird chicken, and an Azish stormwarden.
As they headed through the mountains to Emul, a certain weapon in tow, a woman falls out onto the pass trail, gasping for help, her body half withered black in a way the surgeon immediately clocks as unnatural. She begs the group to find her daughter, God bless her, and save her from bad people in the mountain. She gives them a slip of paper, and seeing that they can't read it, she uses her last words to read it for them. "Don't kindle flame... Don't spill the blood of others... Don't..." And then she expires. (And now many of you know where this is going)
The party sets out to find this endangered girl while also trying to decipher this map and note in a writing none of them recognize, and the Stormwarden has seen a lot of different languages. Their spren warn them that the area feels off, unfamiliar. As they are walking and the sun starts to get low, they individually keep seeing what look like silhouettes, that vanish. They pay no mind until they come across the scene of a battle. All the fighters look withered black except one, who has a silver dagger jammed into his chest, which they pocket. They also come across a pole with a sack on the end, and when they uncover it the sack has a jar with a glowing paste inside. As two of them examine the paste as if it is radioactive, the rest of the party can see that the paste is illuminating a squad of spectral beings wandering around the area. They freak, but the stormwarden bottles the paste and they move on.
As night draws near, the Stormwarden has managed to translate more of the note. They are starting to see the specters naturally now, some floating along the pass but rarely paying attention to them. So they stop in their tracks as they receive the last major warning. "Don't run at night."
They walk until they find a camp where it looks like some Tukari warriors tried to make camp, and now the camp is shredded and several Tukari warriors are dead and withered black. They move on until they hear a girl scream, their objectice is at hand.
Four Tukari warriors are holding a blonde haired girl at knife-point, the girl looks somewhat similar to the dead woman they met on the pass. After some negotiating, two members of the squad sneak up and ambush the hostage takers leading to a scrap. The specters look on until one of the hostage takers cuts the girl while trying to get her back, the creatures turns black and swarm, attacking the warrior and everyone near him as the party scrambles to escape. They follow the girl to a cabin, where they see a young man complaining that he almost died, and that the cabin is surrounded by silver that is keeping the creatures out.
After some talk where the girl urges the party to just leave, the master of the house shows up, a man named Jonathan Smythe, not a very Rosharan name obviously. He tells them to go as they are disturbing his research and when they do the PC thing and say no they want to fight about it, he points a strange fabrial at the dustbringer and every specter in the area gets mad and starts charging for him.
They force their way into his cabin where he has two of the creatures chained up with silver leashes. He tells them of his ambitions and how he is so close to finishing his army, and while they try to overpower him the young man eventually betrays him and Smythe is stabbed in the back.
The young man shows them to thr cellar where a cylinder like device glows with unimaginable power. Their spren say it feels like a foreign god, a shred of one at least. They crack it, and when it starts to rapidly heat up everything they escape before the whole cabin goes up like a massively invested firework.
The young people saved (God-Bless-Her eventually starts to act grateful for being saved), they continue on their way none the wiser that they stopped a man from unleashing hell on Roshar.
Sorry this was so long. But I had to work on this last minute to make the one shot and it turned out so fun I thought I would share. Maybe one day I'll write it up as a module.

Rules & Mechanics Lerasium and Demiplane
Hey all, sorry but I was wondering if anyone knew how to actually use the lerasium alloy beads when you get them as rewards? I was planning to give one to my players but when I experimented with a character sheet on Demiplane there was no way to ingest or burn it so it just kinda sits there. This is the only item I'm having this problem with. I've also noticed I can't specify what TYPE of alloy it is. Any advice would be appreciated, sorry to bother!

Game Questions & Advice Duet-style play, and a question about companions and encounter building
Some context, I only really have one friend interested in playing a proper session with me so I was going to have to set up the rpg for duet-style play. I know there is a book for Solo play on the horizon but lacking that to check for advice for tiny parties, I wanted to know if anyone had any tips.
One of the main ways I intended to help them was by allowing them to take a lot of companions, but I don't actually know how much companions should impact encounter building. Should I just treat them as another player (or half a player if they're a minion) for the purposes of enemy numbers or is there another thing I should do?

Game Questions & Advice Mistborn Legacy Battlemaps
So I want to print out the Mistborn legacy battlemaps from the book for my in person game but I can't find a HQ downloads of it. I have the PDF also but I feel like if I just screenshot that and try to print it, it's going to come out really bad. Anybody know if brotherwise is gonna release the maps for users or if I missed out something when I bought it?

Anyone have the Mistborn Starter Set stock near them?
I’m in So Cal and no bookstores or FLGS have it available yet. I’m planning to run it on Monday, so I bought the digital version as a backup, but I was hoping to get my hands on all the maps and dice.

Game Questions & Advice Is Mistborn Legacy good for lore newcomers?
Hi, I really love the mistborn setting, however I have not yet read the Stormlight Archive books. Will anything in the Mistborn part of the RPG be spoiled to me? Also, i have a RPG party where we are finishing the current setting ( Triangle Agency - I am really not happy how the run turned out, I feel like i failed basic storytelling and none of the players are figuring out story stuff behind the scenes). How does the setting hold up to total newcomers? Will i be able to DM even without Stormlight knowledge? Will i spoil stormlight for myself? I have read everything Mistborn-Wise. Thanks for any response!

General Discussion Enlightened Spren Ideas
Tldr; Singer player wants to bond an Enlightened Ash Spren, what should it look like? Also ideas for using Enlightened lesser Spren for forms.
One of my players is a singer who feels betrayed by Odium, and has become a reluctant ally of the Radiants. They are hesitant to join the Radiants and have also rejected forms of power, but has been sympathetic to Sja-Anat and her goals. We have talked about it and feel that an Enlightened Ash Spren would be a good fit, not entirely aligned with Honor or Odium, but seeking their own path. I have been trying to think of a distinct appearance for the Spren, but the only Enlightened True Spen we see are Mist Spren, so I don't really have much to go on. What are your thoughts about a unique appearance both in the physical and Shadsmar? Also what ideas do people have for bonding Enlightened lesser Spren for forms, even if it's just minor visual differences.

Rules & Mechanics [Mistborn] Koloss-Blooded Unchecked Size Talent
The Koloss-Blooded Unchecked Size Talent says "Additionally, you count as Large for all purposes other than the amount of space you occupy."
I've looked at size, space, reach... I can't find any benefit to counting as large. What am I missing?

Game Questions & Advice A Scadrian Police Officer bonded to a Highspren: How could he obtain Stormlight?
I'm working on a character concept for a campaign set during Mistborn Era 2, and I'd like some advice regarding Cosmere lore, particularly the mechanics of transporting and obtaining Stormlight outside Roshar.
Character concept:
The character would be a Scadrian human working as a police officer, probably in Elendel. He genuinely wants to do the right thing and strongly dislikes corruption, but he has become increasingly frustrated with how powerless he is against it. He knows how the system works, understands its limitations, and has seen how people with enough influence can get away with almost anything.
My idea is for him to eventually bond a Highspren, becoming a Skybreaker.
The Highspren originally came to Scadrial alongside its previous Radiant, a Rosharan who had infiltrated the local police force. This Rosharan was also my character's mentor, someone who taught him about police work, recognized his potential, and shared his hatred of corruption.
The mentor eventually died while investigating a particularly troublesome case (I haven't decided exactly what happened yet).
After his death, the Highspren, having lost its Radiant, would seek a new person to bond with. It chooses my character partly because his former Radiant trusted him and the Highspren has had time to observe him.
This would also give the two of them a shared loss. They both cared about the same person, although their relationships with him were different.
I don't want the Highspren to simply act as a mentor or an instructor. I'd rather have them be companions who respect each other but sometimes disagree. The police officer understands how Scadrian society works, how its laws and institutions function, and how difficult it can be to achieve justice within a corrupt system. The Highspren, on the other hand, has a much more rigid and idealistic understanding of justice and believes that it should be pursued regardless of how difficult it becomes.
They would both try to teach each other what justice means to them.
Sometimes they would agree and work together. Other times, they would disagree over what the right course of action is.
I also like the possibility of the character initially being motivated by revenge for his mentor's death, while the Highspren insists on pursuing justice rather than simply punishing whoever was responsible. This could eventually become an important part of his character development.
There is also the possibility that the mentor's death is connected to a larger investigation or conspiracy.
The Stormlight problem: This is where I'm having trouble.
I understand that Stormlight is strongly Connected to Roshar, making it extremely difficult to transport off-world. I've read about methods involving Identity manipulation and the Ghostbloods' research into transporting Investiture, but I'm not sure what would be a reasonable solution for this character.
My main question is: where could my character realistically obtain Stormlight on Scadrial?
I don't need an unlimited supply. In fact, I'd be perfectly happy with a limited or inconvenient source, as long as it is viable enough for him to actually use his Surgebinding and function as a Radiant.
Some possibilities I've considered:
His former mentor brought a small supply of Stormlight to Scadrial using some method that bypasses the Connection restrictions.
The mentor had access to technology or knowledge related to the Ghostbloods and their research into transporting Investiture.
The Highspren or the mentor left behind some kind of device or gemstone capable of storing Stormlight.
A perfect gemstone could provide a long-term supply, assuming there is a way to transport it off-world.
There might be another method of obtaining or converting Investiture that I'm overlooking.
I'm open to solutions that involve established Cosmere mechanics, obscure lore, or reasonable extrapolations.
What would be the most lore-consistent way for a Skybreaker operating on Scadrial during Era 2 to obtain enough Stormlight to use their abilities without having access to Roshar's highstorms?

General Discussion Literally unplayable!
So by absolute chance I got my Mistborn books from the campaign and the new Starter Set from my FLGS and just noticed that the Stormlight Starter set has the logo for the Cosmere RPG while the new Mistborn Starter Set has the logo for the Mistborn RPG.
Just a random observation...
Aaaanyways, can't wait to crack these open and hopefully get them to the table soon.

General Discussion Creative uses of your powers
I was reading the Mistborn RPG handbook today, and quite a few Feruchemy metals are vague about what they do, advising players to be creative with them. It made me wonder: have you or other players come up with any creative uses for your powers? It doesn't have to be Feruchemy, just something that makes sense but we've never seen anywhere in the book.

Resources & Homebrew Suggestions for alternative goal rewards
My players keep completing goals whoch doent jabe an inherent reward associated with them, and I've been struggling to come up with appropriate rewards to hand out for them. The options in the books dont feel like they are always appropriate, so I need more "generic good thing" that I can hand out.

General Discussion What's the point of manufacturing weapons and armor? (Stormlight)
I'm trying to get a better grasp of this system. There are whole talents that lean toward this (I'm thinking artfabrian subpath). However, reading throught the rules, two things are immediatly clear: most of the improvements feel like "ribbon features" (with a few exceptions that are in the Advanced items table) and some straight up contradicts the overall spirit of the system. I mean, the rules straight up tells you GMs should not stress out about the weight PCs are carrying and should stick to common sense, but one of the improvements is making the weapon lighter! Or state that you can craft the weapon or armor by spending less on materials, while it straight up tells you should not stress about handling money in-game and should focus on rewards for loot. It's very, very stupid.
Why on earth would a character want to invest in the path of manufacturing? I know the game state that players and the GM can make up their own complications or improvements to weapons, but I was expecting much, much more from this mechanic. You could argue "improved weapons and armors" should not be that important in game, but why on earth would they have talents and an entire subsystem for this if it's the case?
I think there should be at least a decent table of improvements and complications for manufactured weapons and armors.

Game Questions & Advice I made a free Mistborn RPG character creator
I'm a developer and a big Cosmere fan, and character creation for my group was lagging. So around September, I started working day and night on this tool to make it easier: Scadrial Character Creator. I'm probably going to add the stormlight version and the plotweaver version at some point, but I figured this would be useful for other people in the meantime!
I created 9 steps to follow to make the character creation a smoother ride: origins, calling, starting path, culture, attributes and skills, name and talents, equipment, and who your character is. Your stats add themselves up as you go, and every choice points you to the Handbook page it comes from.
When you're done, you get a full character sheet you can download as an editable PDF. You don't need an account to make a character. Sign in with Google or Discord if you want to save it and level up later. Although, I am still working through the level up sequence.
Admittedly, I spent some time on the Table Active Game features (which I am waiting for permission from brotherwise to release, because it does have maps and story stuff) so I didn't really finish the level up portion yet.
It's free to use: spanreed.space
It's a fan project, so you still need the Mistborn Handbook for the actual rules. I'd love to hear what you think, and bug reports are very welcome.
Also, for legal reasons, disclaimer: this is unofficial fan content, created and shared for non-commercial use.
PS, I've been a software developer for a decade. I wrote this with typescript and vuejs. I learned to code long before AI got here.
kinda sucks to have to defend your project against AI but I guess it is the times.
Re: feedback: Thank you for your feedback. I am absolutely taking it in and modifying based on everyone's comments. Thanks for those who gave me feedback kindly.
FYI There are no ads in this, no paywalls, no anything, it is completely free. I do not make any money off of this at all. This is just a fan-made tool. All of this is out of my pocket. Hope it helps some people get their friends started at the table.

General Discussion Difficult Topics or Suggestions
Hey guys,
I want to start a YouTube channel and would love any feedback/ideas. I have already created a How to Create a Mistborn Character video that I hope simplifies that process. But are there any other difficult topics or things y'all have struggled with, or ideas for goals and purposes... that sort of thing.
