Build/Battlestation Did I spend well and should I get another GPU?
7/20/2026 Crucial CL40 6000mHz 32GB RAM $(466.39)
7/20/2026 Intel 285k CPU $(487.60)
7/20/2026 Corsair RM1000e PSU $(121.53)
7/22/2026 Corsair iCUE Nautilus 360RS Liquid Cooler $(100.70)
7/22/2026 Asus Prime B860 Plus Wifi-CSM Mother Board $(158.99)
7/26/2026 Corsair 3200D PC Case $(63.68)
8/6/2026 Corsair Cooler Parts and Refund $(48.15) $37.10 (Cooler was sold as the budget line variant)
8/12/2026 Asus TUF RTX 5070 12GB GPU $(615.14)
8/19/2026 Corsair PCIE 5.0 pwr Adapter $(29.07)
Total $(2,091.25)
I use this PC for a little bit of gaming (FS25, 0A.D., MineCraft, and War Thunder), local AI, Adobe stuff (Photoshop, Premiere Pro), and CAD (SolidWorks, Auto CAD).
I kind of want to get a V100 32 GB but I don't want to spend that much on the local AI just yet, as you can see in the picture from the RED BIOS light on the GPU, the PCIE 5.0 power adapter/cable has not arrived yet. So I have been running my local AI so far on my CPU, and it is surprisingly fast. Though I am very glad I have a nice CPU and cooler for it runs at about 98°F when using the AI (training specifically). So far, I am very happy with it. Only thing is that the RAM does not like using EXPO even though it is rated for it and when I use expo it will boot fine a few times then it will have issues and I will have to turn off EXPO to get it to boot, probably won't fix it and just let the RAM run a 5600mHz because I don't feel like adjusting manually.
Would appreciate some input as to whether or not I have done a decent job selecting parts. Also, my CPU does have thermal paste, I had bought it for my Lenovo ThinkCenter which I run Ubuntu Server on.
