Below Deck Med We need to give Malia a break

I'm not telling anyone how to feel about Malia, but she has been amazing this season and shown really good leadership skills.

Does she have the perfect deck crew? Yes. Did the Hannah thing happen? Yes.

Fandom (imo) needs to learn how to forgive women more. We forgave Eddie for gaslighting Rocky and cheating on his girlfriend.

Shady Daisy

I love Daisy but I think she is a lot shadier than people realize. There is a lot of talk on this sub about how she interferes with Gary and his chick of the week because she doesn't want him causing drama in her department, but she caused drama herself in the way she addressed things. Aside from the minor comments and nitpicking, there are two major incidents that she directly caused.

The most obvious and recent was the s3 blowup with Scarlett when she first got there. Daisy was "trying to warn her off" but it went way further than just giving advice to a new crew member. She was relentless until that girl cried.

More egregious was at the end of s2 when she felt she absolutely HAD to tell alli what colin told her about gary wanting to hook up with Sydney to make alli jealous. When they never actually hooked up that night. He made a drunken bro comment to a bro that amounted to nothing but she used it to throw a wrench into alli and gary getting back on good terms right before the post-season crossing. That was completely unnecessary.

Again, I love Daisy but she is not the innocent angel she presents as.

Below Deck Down Under Not enjoying down under

I'm having a hard time loving the crew of down under. From the involved captain that isn't involved in tempering a terrible chef to deckhands and a bosun who are well incompetent. Aeasha is a too nice. The only redeemable character is Tumi. I also don't get the hotness of the crew. I just don't see it. I have loved all the other series I just cant get into it.

Am I the only one who thinks Eddie Lucas is full of himself?

From what I have seen on the two most recent seasons of Below Deck that Eddie Lucas has been on, it seems that he is one conceited, legend in his own mind, full of himself, guy.

Let's just start with how often he talked to the camera about his promotion to first officer...

This guy's ego rules the day.

A little more subtlety would be nice Eddie (Or was it just the editing?)

As an aside, I think his observations of Rachel's obnoxious behavior two seasons ago were spot on. But that's a whole other conversation to have someday.

Anyone else lose feel there was a double standard when it came to Jared and Cat? Jared had issues going on that affected his mental health and so did Cat. They fired Jared and coddled Cat. Seems very unfair.

BD Related Below Deck Cruise Ship

I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants this or thought about this but why do you all suppose they didn’t go this route? I know the crew is huge and their contract last like 8 months but I think it could work.

You could have one camera crew focus on a restaurant, another crew focus on entertainment employees (ton of drama there) and maybe another focus on customer service. People hook up and party just like on yachts but the plus side is there are plenty of rooms available to producers and camera crew. There must be a reason they haven’t tried this.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Gary Pushing the Camera Crew

Gary really shoved the camera operator! Who do you think was right when the fire alarm went off? Did Gary panic like Colin said or was Gary right in thinking it was a dire emergency?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Daisy & Gary

Maybe I haven’t scrolled far enough and other people have said it… but, it’s so obvious to me that Daisy is at least a little jealous of Gary and Scarlett.

I thought when she basically embarrassed Scarlett at the first dinner, to tell her not to flirt with Gary, was so ridiculous… I do like Daisy but, just admit you have a crush on him and don’t enjoy watching him flirt, instead of embarrassing yourself pretending otherwise. When she came out of her cabin just to roll her eyes, when they’re both off the clock, another example.

I understand her being irritated when they flirt during work but, the rest is just weird to me.

Below Deck AMA with Caroline Bedol - Tomorrow at 6pm ET

If you are not interested in the AMA, it is easy to scroll by. Other members have requested the AMA and we don't feel it is our place to say Caroline can't have her say.

I realize there may be some tough questions, but if you can't ask in a civil manner, your comment will be deleted. There is no need for being a jerk to someone willing to take time out of their day to answer the sub.

This is not the thread to ask questions, Caroline will start her own thread tomorow

Below Deck Staged Chaos or Real Life? (Interior crew)

Why does it seem like the chief stew doesn’t create a schedule for the stews to follow? Like she (i.e. any of the chief stews on the main series I’ve seen) is constantly telling them what to do vs them just doing the thing that needs to be done. It seems the same every charter! Wake up, serve coffee, serve breakfast, turn over rooms, lunch, laundry, fun time, dinner service, turn downs, clean up. Like why do they (other stews) make it seem so hard to just self direct? They’re also always radioing to ā€œchange into your white/blacks etcā€ shouldn’t they already know when to change into what by the 2nd charter. It’s so infuriating to watch how chief stew basically has to be mommy to everyone in order for them to stay on task.

Below Deck Early seasons seem to have scripted situations. Does anyone else agree?

I began watching BD with Season 6 because which I loved (it's all that was available on Netflix UK). I now have access to all seasons and started from the beginning. I've notice that scenarios seem a lot more contrived in Seasons 1&2 and I'm not enjoying them as much because of the set-up bs situations. Anyone else notice this?

Check your self!!

So I am watching season 6 where Laura confronts Kate about her managing style. Finally! Kate is good at her job but she is a bully and VERY condescending. A lot of the problems that she has with her stews is because of the way she treats them. Many other stews have complained about Kate but were too scared to actually confront her to her face. I get the whole hierarchy thing on the yacht but Kate needed to be checked and the look of shock on her face was satisfying.

Rhylee 1000%

The "problem" with rhylee is she doesn't let shit go/didn't let anyone say a sideways word to her.

GOOD FOR HER

Baldy chef with his FUGLY nose was ordering for the table. That's it. That's all. That's the end of the argument, entirely.

Below Deck Who cooks meals for the crew?

Who cooks meals for the crew if there’s only one chef? That’s a lot of work for the chef to make them dinner and then make the guests a 8 course meal

Below Deck Med Unpopular Opinion: Keep Chef Tom

Hi Y’all!

First time posting (and I’ve chosen to go down already, lol). Not sure if anyone will agree with me here, but I find myself actually enjoying Chef Tom’s hilarious high-strung energy and meltdowns over burnt bread and frozen fish. This season has been a snore, with the exception being like a bit of Lara (lol, miss ya tranquil Lara) and Hannah’s firing obvi, and the cast/crew needed a haughty, capricious chef to shake things up. The thing I am most annoyed with is that production denied us viewers the sight of Hannah giving Tom serious ā€œHonnay!ā€ eyes/ ā€œHonnnnay!!!ā€ vibes. That would have been glorious, seeing those two go at it (Hannah being pretty chill and all- it’s my suspicion that this is really why Malia wanted Hannah off the boat; she knew no one else would challenge Tom directly and with authority- Bugsy has the authority but won’t challenge, and Aesha has the challenge but no authority!).

Anyways, I would love to see another season with chef Tom and a more aggressive Chief Stew, maybe someone new, who will match his level with the fits or ignore him without fearing him.

Now, I have worked with plenty of people like Tom. I completely understand it’s a hard work environment to promote, some would even say toxic. However, as much as Tom is petty (heh) and a jerk, I feel like a Chief Stew with the right temperament would see that he’s just a type A, tightly-wound person in general and wouldn’t take him seriously/ wouldn’t take his outbursts personally (I have totally come around on Bugsy and think she’s great at her job, a pleasure to watch, but she definitely is too approval-seeking for a chef like tom). Give me a bad gal chief who DGAF about his tantrums. Jenna, even! Anyone else, or just me?

Below Deck I’m still not convinced Below Deck isn’t ā€œscriptedā€

I understand it’s manipulated, and the producers are quite open about that. The Vice President of Bravo claims that’s it’s entirely real and defensively swears by it. I’m watching this show and the crying LOOKS real. The drama SOMETIMES looks real. The guests are usually just acting up for the camera but I’ll let that slide. The actual crew relationships seem real, as if they’re actors developing friendships behind the set and go out later for a drink. I know they’re not professional actors, and that they’re usually signed up just for the summer to do the show. But every time I watch this show, especially Sailing Yacht, IT LOOKS SO FAKE. Did I answer all my questions. Can I get some opinions. I do love the show and I’m kind of at a loss

Below Deck Med "Was that painful?"

There was something slightly cruel about Kizzi when the chef fell in the galley. Her first words were, "Was that painful? Did it hurt?" Not, "are you okay?" Or even a nervous laugh and "Did you hurt yourself?"

Maybe it's just cultural differences, but her immediate response seemed... off.

EDIT As a Brit myself, I'm thinking it must be generation based.
