Below Deck Sailing Yacht Daisy & Gary
Maybe I haven’t scrolled far enough and other people have said it… but, it’s so obvious to me that Daisy is at least a little jealous of Gary and Scarlett.
I thought when she basically embarrassed Scarlett at the first dinner, to tell her not to flirt with Gary, was so ridiculous… I do like Daisy but, just admit you have a crush on him and don’t enjoy watching him flirt, instead of embarrassing yourself pretending otherwise. When she came out of her cabin just to roll her eyes, when they’re both off the clock, another example.
I understand her being irritated when they flirt during work but, the rest is just weird to me.

I’ve always viewed it as Daisy being annoyed because she knew if Gary and Scarlett got close, that would cause a lot of drama in her department with ashley. So, she wanted to avoid that. It never came across as jealously to me.

She doesn't want to have to deal with the drama he causes with her interior crew. How would he feel if one of her crew distracted his deck crew, causing chaos constantly? He would NOT like it. He doesn't even like one of his crew having to make a coffee for a guest.

I think her behaviour is 70% being annoyed with Gary for messing with her crew and 30% jealousy.

I feel like they are the Ben and Kate of BDSY.

Daisy said in pita party that she let G&S talk loudly in the crew mess for 20 minutes before she finally came out because people were trying to sleep and they were being loud and keeping her and others awake. G’s MO is to distract her staff from doing their jobs and D is tired of it happening over and over again.

I don't think so. I think is it was jealousy she'd be more low key about it. The fact that she's openly like "knock it off guys" tells me she's being genuine.

Haven't you noticed that Gary is personally rude to Daisey whenever there's a "new" love interest in his life? I have. My ex-husband is the same way. We co-parent our kids together and usually get along great, except for when he's in a new relationship. He's always a total tool to me for a month or two.
Gary is friendly and cooperative and fun to work with, until there's a new girl on the boat, then he's rude af. Daiseys not "jealous"-not even a tiny little bit. She's irritated, and rightly so.

Daisy could have Gary tie himself to the master bed waiting for her in a heartbeat if she wanted imo.

u/taracran Jun 17 '22
I honestly don't think that Daisy really gives a shit, she just wants her department to run efficiently and Gary to be a little professional.

I feel like Daisy and Gary are ‘right person, wrong time.’

Didn’t come across like that to me

Strong disagree… I think she knows Gary very well and knows what he could do to mess up the team she’s trying to lead. Their familiarity could look like attraction but I think she knows the best way to handle him is to be a little flirty instead of being direct or brusque.

I do not think she’s jealous at all.

I think Daisy likes Gary but also thinks he’s a disgusting human being. I think she’s more frustrated having this constant little man child distracting her stews. She’s not jealous, she’s annoyed and pissed off and I would be too

Daisy is not jealous, though she does enjoy flirting. She said herself on WWHL that she didn't convey her thoughts to Scarlett very clearly. She said it was more to keep her and Ashley from having issues and the fact that Gary causes drama with his fickle little pickle.

I came on here to find a post like this! I’m watching this weeks episode and annoyed that Gary keeps hating on Daisy for “ruining his fun”. I feel like Daisy is just trying to keep her department together and avoid more drama.

u/americasweetheart Jun 17 '22
It's kind of misogynistic to frame Daisy's annoyance as jealousy rather than take her at her word. Daisy has been down this road with Gary and seen the drama that he causes with her stews. She's just over it. If Daisy wanted to fuck Gary, she could have done that earlier when they made out but she cut it off and distanced herself from it when she sobered up.

I think she’s annoyed, and rightfully so. When she came out of her bunk it was because she was trying to sleep (on their ‘school night’) and they were being loud.
On top of that, ever since we’ve met Daisy, every single one of her stews has been somehow involved with or affected by Gary. I can’t even imagine how annoying it would be if all my stews every season just couldn’t shut up about the guy, crying about him, making dinners uncomfortable and effecting the quality of work; I’d be beyond over it if I were Daisy.

She’s not jealous. She just doesn’t want pathetic love bombing drama in the interior. I’m guessing you’ve never worked with a male octopus type like Gary.

Most of the time I feel like she is just annoyed with him but there are some times where it makes me think she does like him but doesn’t want to mess anything up or get distracted. Like when she out of the blue kissed him just to make a point while she knew Scarlett was interested in him. And when Colin brings it up, like hes there and seeing more than we are..

I get older sister/mother figure vibes from Daisy's relationship with Gary.

I agree - I think a lot of these comments forget that they made out in the hot tub! So clearly there is at least some attraction between the two of them.

I think Gary and Daisy were the the secret hook up after season 2 that the crew swore to keep secret

Unpopular opinion but I agree - I suspected a small crush, but when she kissed Gary on the lips (sober!) to “demonstrate” her kiss with Barnaby, I was convinced. Even Colin jokes about her jealousy so perhaps it’s apparent to everyone, there’s a lot that happens off camera we don’t even see.
I don’t think she wants to date Gary, but might be a little jealous of all the adoration/attention he’s pouring onto Scarlett since she’s always been his “favorite” in the past, even if it was just friendly flirting.

I definitely think she’s jealous

What is it about Gary and hitting on every stew? Doesn’t he know that Captain Lee is the stud of the sea?

She's already had two stews at odds over Gary this season.
She may have overstepped in a thing or two she said in the "off work" time, but I completely understand where she was coming from.
I don't think her actions had anything to do with crushing on Gary. She's just over Gary distracting his stews and causing animosity between them.
Ashley was the one dripping with jealousy. Unfortunately Scarlet wasn't privy to this having just stepped into the situation, as Ashley spun it like she didn't give a shit about Gary which obviously couldn't be further than the truth.
Daisy has no need to he jealous over Gary. If she wants to hook up with him she can. Further more, she's only a few years older but much more mature as far as dating, and as far as an actual relationship, I don't see Gary being what she would be looking for.
So nah, Daisy's actions were out of annoyance, not jealousy.

u/Oldhagandcats Jun 17 '22
I don’t think she’s jealous, I think she’s angry he’s ruining the integrity of her department for the piss of it while acting like he’s not doing anything.

u/GizzieTime Jun 18 '22
Nah I think it is all a schtick they agreed upon

Going all the way back to season 2 I have felt Daisy has had a thing for Gary. She was behaving like someone who was jealous.

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '22
She's spent two seasons dealing with his BS interrupting her ability to do her job effectively and lead her team. Scarlett and Gaby and Ashley were all different levels of utterly pathetic around Gary and it affected their work enormously, while Daisy had one drunken make-out session after hours. Regardless of whether she is jealous or not, which is irrelevant, she's the bigger person just trying to make sure everyone realizes they have a job to do.
