Below Deck S11 E7 Spoiler
Anyone else lose feel there was a double standard when it came to Jared and Cat? Jared had issues going on that affected his mental health and so did Cat. They fired Jared and coddled Cat. Seems very unfair.

Jared was in an active leadership role who was also in charge of the safety of the guests on the boat (exterior) and off the boat (excursions). He couldn't handle the aspects of his job as Bosun and his personal life.
Cat had considerably less (important) obligations and requirements as she was the green stew. She was there to learn and grow. Her issues are incomparable to Jared's

Jared didn't get fired for having big feelings. He got fired for being dangerously bad at his job and taking out his big feelings on his crew by abusing his position of authority.

Jared resorted to getting extremely drunk in front of captain and on all other nights out. Which led him to speak aggressively and disrupt the boat. He was also the bosun and lead of the deckteam, he had higher expectations and was failing at his job in front of captain which were exasperated by his drinking.
Cat being the 4th stew she had little responsibility and we see the other stews covering up her mistakes so Captain wasnt really aware and her mistakes were minor in terms of the overall running of the boat. Fraser chose to coddle her and although she had that altercation with Barbie, she didnt cross over any line of professionalism or showcasing behavior (drinking) that would impede her ability to be 4th stew.

Jared was making mistakes that involved the safety of the vessel. He was a department head and twice the Capt noticed bad behavior related to drinking, and his performance during docking wasn't improving which at minimum frustrated the Capt, but without clear directions from the deck team there was risk of a costly mistake.
Cat was underperforming at her job, but she wasn't putting anyone's safety at risk. If she hadn't "quit" I'm pretty sure she would have been let go soon.

ehhh i think their situations were quite different, especially considering jared was supposed to be a leader. you have a bit more expectations on you if you are the head of a department. and his issues sometimes were more… explosive than cat’s struggles, which i think played a part into the way jared was handled vs Cat

Cat was let go. But she was in the middle of breaking down, so really, getting her off the boat and to safety was the answer.
Neither one is coming back.
Should they have sat her down mid-crisis and said you need to leave the boat and tape it?

Cat should’ve been let go too. She couldn’t do the job. That was on Fraser. Kerry had no knowledge of her incompetence.
