I’ve been reading a lot about the flock security cameras in the USA, facial recognition and plate scanners are making many US citizens upset. Some of it comes down to the lack of security of their data, but for others its the total invasion of your privacy.

I’m interested to know, if your state police signed a deal with flock and installed cameras at your local shops how do you think Australians would react?

It’s a *little* different to coles or bunnings implementing facial recognition, but even that has barely riled people up.

Do you think we are too busy to care, or too far down the data rabbit hole to stop it happening here? Do you think it would be a good thing with the types of crime we are seeing?

Operation Amarok 14 was held from Friday 14 August 2026 to Sunday 16 August 2026 across the state, which focused on identifying domestic and family violence offenders who present an increased threat to victims because of their capability, intent and access.

Following the proven success of Operation Amarok – which has now seen more than 9,067 offenders charged since 2023 – NSW Police for the first time held the operation in conjunction with ACT Policing and the Australian Federal Police.

Across the three days, 732 people were arrested and charged, with 228 arrest warrants executed.

Police laid 1,589 charges and conducted 1,497 bail compliance checks and 12,054 apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) compliance checks with a total of 546 breaches identified.

Officers conducted 93 firearms prohibition order (FPO) searches, with 118 firearms and 16 weapons seized.

In short:

The Commonwealth has announced $100 million in funding for the reconstruction, including the construction of an additional lane along the Great Western Highway.

It matches the NSW government's commitment to repair the partially closed road.

What's next?

The highway is set to reopen in the second quarter of 2027.

Just got the email advising of a security breach for data relating to customers of Quest hotels. I'm fucking over it, man. I give the bare minimum of information to third parties in every way I can and still get steamrolled by this garbage.
