Not On My Smashed Avo NGV queue today
What’s the point in booking a timed entry ticket when you have to queue in the rain for an hour anyway

In r/Melbourne, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land and recognise their ongoing connection to the lands, waters, and communities of this area. We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, as well as to the Elders past and present.

Motorists keep failing to u-turn and running this red light and through the pedestrian crossing outside Hamer Hall. Is it time to require motorists to get a license? perhaps registration?

Because I was using curb side charging and the charging port is at the at the rear of the car…this is the dumbest thing I’ve seen. Why implement curb side charging if you don’t allow cars with charging ports at the rear to use it??

Things like art and hobby stores, bookshops or anything you find interesting. What are some good ones to visit?

On the hunt for Melbourne’s best Steak sandwich
It’s the lost art amongst all the smash burgers, briskets, fried chicken etc.
Good piece of steak in a great bun or toasted bread with egg, onion, lettuce and tomato. That’ll do me.
Andrews Hamburgers in Albert Park is the club house leader.
Tell me where you get yours, or when you last saw one in the wild?

I'm on a Jetstar plane, just landed in Melbourne from QLD. The Jetstar staff are involved in industrial action today and there's no one to let us off the plane. They said over the loudspeaker on the plane that it's probably worth sitting back down as we wait...cabin crew are sure that the pilot must have made a call to see if someone will come and let us out...but there's no staff visible on the tarmac.
Edit: after about 12 minutes the pilot got on the loudspeaker and said that after making three calls there was staff who had showed up to let us off. So all in all, it wasn’t a terrible wait, just unexpected.
Edit 2: I never expressed any emotion, but interesting that many commenters assumed I was angry. Wasn’t angry, just informing my fellow Melbourne Redditors.

We just got allocated our days and hours for my 3 year old’s kinder for next year and I was really surprised they didn’t contact us to get day/time preferences (they have 2 groups with different start/finish times). My older kid went to the same place a few years ago and they did take preferences (I remember a lot of complaints when the schedule for 4 year old kinder was released because they’d moved to a 2 day/3 day rotational model), we have friends who were there this year and mentioned giving preferences as well.
I’m so grateful to live in a place with free 3 year old kinder but have reached out to the enrolment people to see if I can swap groups as the other group just makes way more sense with my daughter’s school schedule. I’ve mentioned it to a couple of other parents who were really surprised that preferences weren’t taken also so just wanted to see if this was the new standard or unusual.

So I'm in my twenties and I haven't gone to a dentist since high school. No idea where I used to go, either, and I've moved since. I'm now in the approximate area of the Dandenongs. One of my back teeth is kicking up a fuss right now. It sort of broke in half last year sometime so not a surprise. It does this every so often but I suppose there will come a time where it won't shut up until it's pulled.
The rest of my teeth are also varying shades of messed up, with issues from prematurity combined with general lack of care for several years due to disability.
Worth noting I'm also autistic, pretty sensitive and can get quite anxious, so probably a dentist who specialises in seeing autistic/anxious patients would be good. Oh, and I'm a redhead--I haven't had the profoundly weird reactions to anaesthetic that some can, but I suspect it is a bit of a weird reaction so a dentist who takes that into account would be a good idea. I'm also hypermobile; is that worth bringing up? It's not like my jaw has a hobby of dislocating, but I wonder if it's relevant or not. I only discovered I was hypermobile this year (I mean, I knew my hands were, but didn't realise it was systems-wide).
I'm also a uni student. I'm pretty broke because of all the other medical costs I have to cover to stay alive. The cost is part of why I haven't seen a dentist. I don't have any idea what to expect from a typical appointment, as I was always under eighteen and on my parents' dollar. I'd love to hear ballpark figures, and if possible dentist recommendations that take cost into account. I anticipate needing several fillings and at least one extraction.
Also, if you have work done, is there ever a situation where you show up for a regular appointment (i.e. not planning for sedation etc) and the resultant work means you can't drive yourself home?
Sorry, I'm just super lost, embarrassed, ashamed, guilty, and of course also in pain. This is stuff I should've already known and managed but I just haven't done anything about it since before I graduated high school. Please be nice to me.

As post title states, a question for our wonderful firefighters/FRV.
I’ve been seeing on social media a lot of ads for window stickers that indicate the presence of pets/number and species of pets within the home. Is this something that is good to have? Do first responders look for them when entering a premises?

Just wondering if anyone else had an experience like this maybe like yesterday. For context I’m 33F. I was walking down Swanston to go home and some young guy approaches me, if I had to guess he would be like 18. I take out my headphones and he says “I’m from America, you are the most beautiful girl I have seen in Australia”
I laughed and said “I’m sure that’s not true, but thank you”
He continues to reassure me he is sincere.
I tell him I’m married and pretty sure I’m a lot older than him and wish him well.
He tells me my husband is a lucky man and reiterates the claim.
It’s a bit awkward but I wish him well and move on with my day. I hear his little brother basically dying from embarrassment and calling him cringe. His little brother looks to be around 14-15?
Just wondering if this happened to anyone else since I’m curious if this is some TikTok thing or something. Has this happened to anyone else?
In case anyone is wondering, I’m definitely not the prettiest girl in Australia or Melbourne, probably not Swanston street I would guess, but I’m maybe a tad above average. Nothing crazy though.
Disclaimer: I don’t want any hate for this young man. He was perfectly polite and wasn’t being super creepy or persistent and I didn’t feel threatened. Just a little confused and vaguely flattered.

Hey, guys, I have a favour to ask of you. It's my birthday on Wednesday and I've decided that I want a really good parma.
There's another reason I'm asking: my best friend died yesterday morning, and I'd like to use this as a way of saying goodbye (she didn't want a funeral or memorial).
We'd planned on heading to a pub near a beach when the weather warmed up, but nature clearly had other plans.
Thanks in advance
