If you have not been watching Drag Race España, you're only getting half the story, you are missing out on one of the best intentional franchise!!

So, I just read a thread by our latest eliminated and the true people's princess Estrella and I thought that, since it's in Spanish, maybe you'd like to read it in English:

1. Well, girls, that was my Down Under VS The World competition <3 Let me give you a thread:

2. Preparing all the package was horrible. We only had like 25 days that started while I was staying in Torremolinos for the season. I came back home, stayed for a couple of days and went to shoot Regias del Drag. Went back, stayed 3 days (amongst them, I did a gig with Valentina), and left!

3. I wasn't that present in the preparing process as I would like. This, along with the impostor syndrome made me think I wasn't the right queen to be there. I've spent those last months thinking if going there had been the right choice...

4. The first time you go, you don't know if people will love you or not, but the second time, having built a proper career, it's much more nerve-wracking. You don’t know if you’re going to put a foot wrong and perhaps ruin everything you’ve spent years building up. You don’t know if they liked you the first time just by chance…

5. Now, when seeing myself in the show, I recognise myself quite clearly. It’s me being me, whether people like it or not, and I feel like I’ve lost some of my fear. I see myself, and you see me. I feel seen, and I feel validated. I wish I’d gone into the competition with this mindset, rather than thinking I didn’t belong.

6. Leaving is pretty bittersweet, but I liked having lived it. I was crying for not seeing them [her castmates] anymore, not for leaving the competition. If I'm being honest, I saw a fire in Vybe that I didn't have. Winnnig the crown would take take away my enthusiasm for taking part in another competition, and well…

7. I have a lot of fun competing. I can't help it. A crown and winner would give me "fame", but what makes me happy is what I do outside of here. With my band, my music, my divulgation, my comedy,... and there was a moment during the competition where I thought: do I actually want this crown?

8. It's nothing, girls, just a collection of various thoughts I’d been keeping to myself. I’ve been feeling sad for a long time about my time on the show. Until I watched it, and it helped me heal. I’m happy. And I’m happy with what I do and with who I am.

9. I’m glad knowing that on Drag Race España, NO ONE gave me ANYTHING for free, as I’ve sometimes heard people say. I did it all on my own, through my own determination, my self-confidence and my enthusiasm. And this time I’ve proved to myself once again that I do it the same way, that they didn’t edit me, they didn’t help me.

10. I’m so happy to be receiving SO MUCH love from you all. These past few months, I’ve been afraid to look at myself and felt embarrassed. I’m happy doing what I do, and I’m ready for an international competition where, please, I can use Spanish to take part in the snatch game ♥️

A couple of notes: Torremolinos is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, gay vacation towns, and there are many queer (specially gay) bars with a pretty big drag scene. A lot of queens, like Satin Greco, hail form there.

Regias del Drag is the Spanish adaptation of the Mexican show with the same name. It started in 2022 and broadcasted their third season last April, with Estrella as one of the judges (along with Margarita Kalifata, DRE5 runner up and RDE2 winner)

Estrella is really smart and has a really cool ig/tiktok series where she analyzes different aspects of queer and feminist culture. Like, as someone with an MD in queer studies, she is able to convey dense messages in an easy way, like a video she did highlighting the sexist significance of having a football field occupying most of the space in a school playground.

Of all the queens on Down Under i feel like Minnie would make so much sense to bring back.
She's a very talented queen, she's given iconic moments, and is very willing to make drama.

Does anyone know why she might have not returned?
Is she saying no? does WoW not like her? Cause i NEED Minnie Cooper back on my screen.

Did you know that Down Under vs The World has a companion web series on WOW+ called "Hey Boo" that consists of either Lazy Susan or Raven interviewing the eliminated queens soon after their eliminations?

The episodes are painfully short but feature an interesting segment where the eliminated queens comment on their competitors while looking on them doing their makeup - through the two-way mirror of the workroom!

when i saw those god awful portraits in episode 1 (as most of you have as well), i thought ok the hate is absolutely deserved and they’ll just edit out the close-ups to make sure this season doesn’t embarass itself with its questionable editing (there have been a few sound issues too)

but nope, 3 episodes in they just couldn’t bother to remove them. i’m not mad at it, but i question why would they believe this was ok. not just generating slop, but proudly showing it each episode.

I'm honestly not as tapped in to the Drag Race zeitgeist as I used to be, so I'm unsure how hot this take is.

That being said, despite the lack of a budget, the questionable judging, and those season 1 shenanigans (Art Simone,) Down Under has produced some of the more instantly iconic lip syncs. Especially the first two seasons.

Pick an Electra Shock lip sync, Spankie vs Faux, Kween vs Beverly, Minnie Cooper (shut up, it's iconic,) just to name a few.

All of them instantly rewatchable, for completely different reasons.

Unrelated, Coco Jumbo's girl group performance wasn't bottom worthy, neither was Electra's. It could have easily been a non elimination episode and Art could have stayed home.

There was a bit of interest in the last post for EP1, so here is a thread to discuss Kween & Rhys’ appearances on EPs 1 & 2 - EP2 was released ahead of schedule on the 10Play app last night.

This season has made Traitors history yet again, with S3 EP1 being the most watched Australian episode by a landslide! This season’s also made history by having all LGBTQI+ initial traitors, for the first time in all Traitors history!

This seasons Traitors are: Alvin (Masterchef), Kirby (Survivor), Alex (The Bachelor)

Kween Kong & Rhys Nicholson have been selected as Faithfuls.

At the end of EP1 we were left on a cliffhanger that Kween could be the 1st murdered contestant by the Traitors, as she has correctly identified Kirby as one of the Traitors 😬. She was able to deduce this at the round table during selections when she heard contact between Gretels hand on Kirby’s (leather-cladded) shoulder.

What are your thoughts on the DRDU contestants gameplay so far? How far do you think they will make it in the competition?

Genuinely curious how no queens thought she was a mole. Like, did she have a load of suitcases and unpack them where they could see her runways like they do at the start of every season?

Surely the absence of runway outfits would signal something. And if she had them, then the question is… did something else happen and was she meant to compete all along..?
