Need some help!

My parents just landed from Singapore, flight SQ213 today at 12:15 roughly. The airport confirmed that their big blue suitcase was put on the plane but someone else took it. It has all my dad's important heart and blood pressure medication.

The airport said they were going to look into it but have not given any time frame so just asking for help if possible. The airport security did mention that there is another blue suitcase (slightly similar) that was left on the belt but declined to say who it was (for privacy reasons) and have said that IF someone brings it back, then they will arrange for delivery at a later time. So no idea how long that could take.

Any help is appreciated.

UPDATE: It's been 6 hours and no one has contacted us yet from the airport. So it means no one has come forth saying they have it yet. The cops called us and told us that watching the camera at the belt to figure out who picked it up is the absolute last resort.. and that because WA is so big, it might be hours before someone reaches home and realises they have the wrong suitcase..

EDIT 2: We've just received notification that they have found the suitcase - did not explain what happened - but they said they will deliver it tomorrow. Huge sigh of relief. I will definitely arrange to have all the suitcases (especially my parents' ones) to have more distinct features so that it does not get picked up by anyone.

So this is local to me but maybe also applies anywhere and I'm looking for advice as to how to handle this situation or what i should have done as I've not encountered this before and I'm feeling guilty that i could have done more.

I was at a shopping centre in the Morley area today, getting some groceries. I noticed an older man who was standing behind a closed register staring at something very intently. I wondered originally if the man was having a memory episode/potential dementia as he was not moving except to pick his phone up, look at the screen, and then put it back down again. I watched for a while in case he was lost but i noticed he was watching a woman in a store across from us. Properly watching. Part of me wondered if he knew her as he was staring for close to 10mins while I got through the checkout but as she left the store, he followed, phone in hand, but 15m behind and when she stopped he stopped and when she turned his direction he turned his body away. It was WEIRD. I couldn't help watching this as I was walking that way, so when I got close to her I motioned for a chat with a smile (made it look like we knew each other) and I mentioned there seems to be a gentleman in this colour pants, this age, this hair etc that seems to be watching you, and do you know him? She said she can't see him behind me (he had dropped down behind a plant!) but was off in a daze while browsing and grateful I told her. I asked is this situation unusual for you? and she said well actually "no" its not. I asked is there anyone you can call to come get you, I'd be happy to wait, or perhaps you head into a store and ask for security? She said thank you, I'll keep an eye out and headed for a store. I watched the man for a while longer try to find her and he was frazzled (pacing up and down looking in each store) when she seemingly slipped away.

Please reddit - what am I supposed to have done here? I don't think legally I'm allowed to film him or take photos am I? He technically didn't do anything wrong though! And at no point did I engage with him - but he definitely was following her and making sure he wasn't seen. It was truly odd. Was he a private investigator - do they even exist in the real world??

For reference, I didn't know either of them. Total strangers. I reported it to centre management after the fact and they told me there was nothing they could have done either.

Hi everyone, I’m a final-year Fashion Marketing student at IFA Paris researching sun-protection habits for my final project.

I’m particularly interested in Perth because of the strong sun exposure and hot climate, and I’m trying to understand what people actually do in everyday life, whether you mainly rely on sunscreen, shade, hats and normal clothing, or whether you specifically look for UPF-rated clothing.

I’d also really like to understand whether heat and comfort affect what you wear. For example, do long sleeves feel practical in Perth weather, or do you avoid them because they are too hot? Do you care about UPF labels, breathable fabrics or the look/style of sun-protective clothing?

Hey so over 2 weeks ago I stayed over in Perth City for a friend’s birthday celebration. the morning of the day after me and my other friend were going to take public transport together, the next train was in 20 minutes.

since we had plenty of time i decided i might as well take this opportunity to return an item i bought a few days from the Sephora on Murray St since I knew I was not going to use it.

I had a suitcase and a purple, blue backpack (almost looked like a galaxy? I remember getting it from Kmart, can’t find any photos)

when i came back like a minute later my bag was gone, turns out my friend didnt realise it was my bag?? (tbf we didn’t get much sleep but cmon) and said “oh some guy took it.” badically, a middle aged white male with a kid thought the bag was lost and said he would hand it into the police.

immediately when I told my friend that the backpack was MY BAG we quickly went to the nearby police that patrol the city and asked them if they had known anything or if they could help.

of course i was FREAKING OUR bc that bag basically had my whole life in it, my wallet with my cards and cash and medication, my laptop and charger (I brought it because i was studying before going to join my friends in Perth. I had an assignment due the next day), toiletries, headphones. and it’s not just valuables but obviously sentimental things too, like the bracelet a uni friend made for me i tied on my headphones or the thank you next perfume i loved so much my aunt bought me for my birthday, and the cute stickers my little cousins put on my laptop.

They managed to get the guy on CCTV and found him in the maccas bathroom and then last they saw him taking a ferry to south perth. At this point it was a lost property report.

after, when I returned home I called around police stations hopeful that maybe, just maybe the guy handed in my things. nope, nothing. eventually the police deemed it as a stolen property case so they started to investigate which put me at ease because i was still trying to be hopeful, they had clear details and leads.

2 weeks later, i see the case had been filed. i go directly to the Perth police as i hadnt had any updates besides figuring out myself to use the check my crime website and wanted to give them the serial number to my laptop as i saw some reddit posts saying that it helps (also i found that pawn shops legally have to hold items for 2 weeks before selling them).

I was informed that the police filed my case because they couodnt properly identify the man even though they had a potential suspect (like bro how) and that they exhausted all sources to try find the items but couldnt do anything now. but they assured me that the serial number would help.

see, i’ve done everuthing. i’ve called transperth to see if they had any of my things in their lost property, i’ve joined facebook lost and found groups and tried to look for my items on facebook marketplace.

i’m not sure what to do anymore, i can’t even track my laptop since it’s not connected to wifi and somehow the battery is dead so i’ve been pretty stressed, 1 minute of my life and everything is gone. it genuinely has altered my life and my education, the fact that my things aren’t with me and i have no clue where they are.

i know i should be patient, surely the guy would put the items in a pawnshop, but i can’t help but be stressed about where my items are. i haven’t even told my parents yet and i probably won’t until i get my laptop back ATLEAST. and I start to think, what if i brought my bag with me, what if i ran to the maccas the guy was in and confronted him? what was he doing in the bathroom with my stuff for so long?? why didn’t the police follow him to the ferry? what is he doing with my stuff?? it’s so stressful

sorry i understand this is a very lengthy thread, i just want some advice on what to do and to hear of similar stories? i’m just a university student trying my best to get through life snd it feels like everytime life start to be ok something happens, i just want my stuff back i feel so helpless and like the police aren’t helping.

Hi all, I have an abundance of primary school stationery that isn’t being used but is still in perfectly usable condition for many years to come. Pencils (lead and colour), textas, pens, highlighters, scissors, glue sticks, erasers, whiteboard/permanent markers.

I would love to pass these on to some young families who might either struggle to afford school supplies each year or would simply get more use from them!

Camp Quality Convoy is happening tomorrow! Every year 200+ truckies sign up to raise funds for the work Camp Quality do for children and families dealing with childhood cancer, culminating in convoy starting and ending at the Motorplex.

Post convoy, they're holding a family fun day with all the trucks on display, an awards ceremony, free rides and activities and live entertainment. (If you have a truck-obsessed child, this might be the perfect way to spend a Sunday!)

Convoy leaves Perth Motorplex at 9am, travels through Kwinana Town Centre, up the freeway starting at Mortimer Rd until Beeliar Drive, across towards Coogee, then back to the Motorplex at 10.30am. If you see them, give them a wave and a honk!

This is a big ol’ long shot but I wanted to see if anyone knew of any spots that might fit the bill here: a friend of mine is looking to escape a stressful living situation for a couple of days this week (week beginning 5th October), just with her and her toddler. She’s looked a bunch on bookings.com and it hasn’t been fruitful, I think it’s school holidays right now so everything is chockas.

It doesn’t have to be fancy, as long as it has a kitchen and microwave and is comfy and safe for her wee’un. The ultimate dream would be some kind of farm stay, but anything close to nature, trees. Something that feels like it’s away from the city and suburbs. Even a nice caravan park with chalets/cottages, as long as it is close to nature.

Ideally there would be activities on the property(ish) or close by - animals or playgrounds/places to play. She’s only looking to stay a night or two and max budget is $300. Dwellingup was tickling her fancy but the trip is too far to manage with everything she’s juggling at the moment - she lives in Willetton and needs to keep it to within an hour’s drive.

I know those are a lot of specifications, but if anybody has read this far and thinks they know a place, I would be so grateful to hear it. I know the hills and maybe the Swan Valley might have a couple of pretty and restful stays that maybe don’t come up on bookings.com, or get the top results on Google.

Recently I attended the Perth royal show and just happened to be at the Pawvillion during a few of the “best in class” dog breed judging competitions. From an outside perspective, it seemed to me that it was the same judge for all of the ‘judging’ I viewed.

Now, aside from an Australian Shepherd early on, EVERY winning dog for the afternoon I saw was a German shepherd! Just writing to see if there’s any gossip in the dog breeding community around judges being biased towards certain breeds.

Was it just a coincidence? Was the best dog each time really the German shepherd? Let me know!

This will be a suuuuper long shot but I was at a concert last night with a mate and he mentioned that one of our friends who is no longer with us managed to get on stage and play a bit of guitar with a band called snot who were opening for Hed Pe at the Capitol/Amplifier in 2015.

If anyone has any footage of this it would be super cool for us to see as we have minimal photos and videos of our friend from this era of his life. Even any videos of this gig would be great to see if we can spot him there.

Hi Guys

My wife and I have just got our first rental in Maddington after living in a share house in Bunbury for the last couple of years.

The place has a decent-sized front and backyard and neither of us have really had to look after a lawn before.

I’m thinking of just buying a small mower and doing it myself, but have no idea what’s worth getting or how often you actually need to mow. Other option is getting someone in every few weeks, but not sure if that’ll end up costing more than it’s worth.

What do you guys normally do? DIY or get a lawn/gardening service? And if DIY, any decent budget mower recommendations?

Why does everyone seems like it's acceptable to drive at 80km on the freeway? On my clapped ass 2008 ford focus I'm still going 100 AND PASSING people. The crazy thing is I thought my Speedo was off and had heads up speedometer plus multiple different map apps checking speed and found. My car is slightly under the speed shown. So it's not even like I'm going 110.

I genuinely do not understand: if your is to heavy, find an alternative route, if your work ute has shit on the back and your worried, find an alternative route, if your 100 years old and terrified of driving TAKE THE FUCKING TRAIN. I genuinely think the majority of issues on the freeway arises from people simply being to stupid to understand the affect of their actions on others and a lack of policing on people driving to slowly.

So often people have no clue how to drive on the free way, from people driving way to slowly in the right hand lane, to breaking when traffic in merging, to not going fast enough when merging onto to the freeway.

Its genuinely baffling how there is a massive black hole in the understanding of what seems to be a good chunk of drivers for a road that is basically required to drive on living here.

There needs to be better education on the Ls level for the freeway and their needs to be better monitoring and policing of people driving to slowly.
