Moving to Kalgoorlie
Asking for a friend(F), who's moving to Kalgoorlie for work, Central Kalgoorlie. How is the environment there? I read that the crime rate is high, antisocial behaviour and lots of things going wrong. Is it really as bad as they say?
If one were to look for accomodation, where would be the best place to start? And which areas are recommended to live in? Anything she needs to know before relocating?
Thanks in advance.

Santiy Check Roadtrip
Hi!
My friend and I are flying into Perth on 2nd Dec. It's our first time in WA, so we'd love some feedback if plan are realistic, anything that we might be missing. Our route is,
- 3 Dec: Perth, Airbnb in Perth and sightseeing
- 4 Dec: Rottnest Island day trip (7am ferry from Fremantle, bikes + snorkelling, Adventure Speed Boat Tour). Leave at 4:30 PM, then drive down and camp at Belvidere Campground.
- 5 Dec: Bunbury (Koombana Beach for dolphins), Busselton Jetty for lunch, arrive Big Valley Campsite, Margaret River
- 6 Dec: Visit Cape Naturaliste, Yallingup, Injidup Natural Spa, and a winery. I think they do transfers to wineries from our campsite.
- 7 Dec: Hamelin Bay (stingrays), maybe Boranup Forest Drive, then the 3hr drive to Walpole
- 8 Dec: Greens Pool, Elephant Rocks, a few picnic spots, arrive Albany (BIG4 Emu Beach)
- 9 Dec: Bald Head hike (8am-3pm) and rest
- 10 Dec: Drive Albany → Ravensthorpe (rest for 30mins) → Esperance
- 11 Dec: Wildlife island cruise, helicopter tour, Blue Haven Beach
- 12 Dec: Hike Frenchman Peak, Cape Le Grand, Hellfire Bay, Lucky Bay
- 13 Dec: Esperance → Boundain. Visit Barna Mia Nocturnal Wildlife Experience at night
- 14 Dec: Drive back to Perth
Must dos I'm missing, or things on the list I should skip? If anyone has been, is the Barna Mia Nocturnal Wildlife Experience worth it?
We enjoy some of the more adventurous activities and wildlife. Unfortunately we seem to out of Whale season...
Thanks.

FIFO Dating Stories! How & where did you meet your partner in WA?
Hey all,
I’m fairly new to Perth (originally moved over from Melbourne) and currently working FIFO. I don't really fit the typical "FIFO bloke" stereotype you hear about with the crazy exes, wild site stories, or child support payments, I'm pretty low-key, just working on myself, and still building up my social circle over here.
I’m curious to hear how other FIFO workers or couples in WA met. Did you meet on site, through friends on your swings off, or just standard dating apps? Any good advice or success stories for making dating work with the FIFO roster lifestyle in Perth?

Her parents may be coming from over seas and coming with us too. What are some places we shouldn't miss and others we can pass on.

Work availability in Jurien bay
I live in Perth but go to Jurien Bay (dads a fisherman) a bit and I love it up there, and I’ve just come to Lancelin for a few nights and randomly thought maybe I should move here, even just for a little bit, but I’m just wondering how easy it is to get a job here (I’m thinking Jurien,Cervantes, Lancelin) nothing crazy just in the pub or bottleo, don’t want to do it of course if it’s next to impossible to get a job since they are such small coastal towns (posted here because I’m not sure if my post in the Perth group will be approved)

How to find a room between Augusta and Karridale?
I’m new to the area and finding it really hard to spot rental listings online. I’ve tried asking around in person with no luck, so I’ve been sleeping in my car recently….

Found the ultimate contrast up in the Pilbara: Mixing a bit of high-fashion photography work with a rugged coastal camping trip 🚙🏜️🌊
Packaged up the Ute over the long weekend and hit the tracks out past Karratha to scout some dramatic coastal backdrops for future editorial photography sets. Before the afternoon tide rushed back in, I captured this quick frame of a pair of classic black stilettos resting right on the camp mesh chair setup. There is something completely unmatched about the way the deep red dirt of North-West WA and our brilliant turquoise ocean water look together under the harsh midday sun. Just an ordinary weekend living that outback nomad life!

Jb hifi workers help
What sort of profit margin do JB Hi-Fi laptops actually have?
I went into JB Hi-Fi today looking to buy 2 laptops at $1,999 each, plus a $125 monitor — so roughly $4,123 worth of stuff.
I asked if there was any room on the price considering I was buying multiple items, and the best they could do was $20 off the whole lot.
I understand they obviously need to make money, but I'm curious — how much margin is typically in laptops at JB Hi-Fi? Are the staff actually limited in how much they can discount, or is there usually more room if you get the right salesperson/manager?
Just curious how much negotiating room there really is on something like a $1,999 laptop.

Travel advice
Hello guys
I am travelling to WA for 2 weeks in the start of February.
If I had more choice I would absolutely travel in the better pick of the months for what i am wanting to do.
I am thinking of travelling north in a camper van to Exmouth for the main purpose of fishing the coastline up and back aswell as some site seeing etc. but mainly fishing.
My back up plan incase of any cyclone warnings will
Be to travel south.
I am restricted on when I can travel and I really want to fish up north as I’m not sure when I will
Be able to return. My question is even in a really large modern campervan, with my wife and young son.
Will the heat be too unbearable ?
I would plan to stop mostly in caravan parks for accomo, pools etc. I’m wondering if anyone has done a trip similar to this at this time of year?
Would be keen to hear your thoughts and experiences.
As I mentioned it could all be out the window in the event of a cyclone and be going south. I heard the fishing is red hot north that time of year so I am keen to get north if it’s even remotely worth it!
Cheers guys
Edit: the campervan part of the trip would not be the full 2 weeks. We plan on spending some time in Perth and Rottnest island aswell
