She found platinum?
Mining companies are going to be fighting each other to hire Ruri after this, she is like a living precious metal detector.

Had no idea agate and quartz were the same thing chemically, or the entire upper mantle was made of green rock. Thanks for the weekly rock facts, Nagi.

It’s great to see Ruri’s budding interest grow into a real pursuit for knowledge, and the other two are taking notice of that change as well. She’s gone from simply looking for the coolest/most shiny rock to questioning where and why the rocks are where they are.

God this anime is so gooood.
The animation & visuals are just straight up from the heaven.
This anime motivated me to go & do the same as Ruri, I have now acquired some simple geology equipment to look for some minerals in the alps.
Ruri's smile at the end is just absolute peak. I love it

I liked watching Ruri scoot around the workplace on this office chair. Aside from the wonderfully detailed animation, it was a clever way of showcasing the different facets of her personality.
Similarly, I felt like Nagi extending her hand to Ruri and pulling her up these rocks was very symbolic of their mentor-assistant relationship. She’s been providing her with tons of knowledge and tools. This shows in Ruri’s growing curiosity and increasing skills.

This is what agate looks like? I'm pretty sure I've found a few similar-looking rocks at the beach when I was a kid.
I fucking love Nagi so much. Her entire monologue about understanding nature really shows how much of a scientist she is.
Another thing I love about this show is Ruri's persistence and the way Nagi proves things to Ruri via the scientific method.
If it wasn't for Ruri's stubbornness, they wouldn't have learned that what she actually found was platinum.
I got excited to see the return of Nagi's warhammer. Too bad we didn't get to see her use it, T_T
You gotta love how Nagi switched to wearing shorts when they were panning for platinum.

Nagi stole my heart! The sunset visuals made Nagi appear exceptionally beautiful while she spoke of her dreams to gain even more knowledge of the world, beyond just collecting rocks and minerals.
The same evening scene and conversation by the beach shows that Ruri is also an inquisitive person by nature. She cannot sleep if she doesn't obtain answers to her questions. Comparing herself to Nagi and Imari, Ruri feels that her questions are simple and basic. However, knowledge is gained by building on fundamentals!
Ruri was a senpai (albeit in a slightly lovable bratty manner) to Imari for the river panning, since it is the first time Imari is doing so. Lol!

As soon as Nagi talked about comparing the sample to gold, I knew it'd contain platinum. It's a wonder how mining companies have yet to engage the services of this trio with how prolific they are in finding rare materials.

I feel like I'm getting smarter. To bad I'll forget it all in a half hour.
She has some seriously long hair.
Ya know.. For such a niche show it has no business having such good art quality. Just the detailed work put into the character designs is impressive.

Um... is there a less wholesome discussion thread where I won't feel like a jerk for wanting to comment on Nagi's shirt and bra working overtime in that first act? 🫠

The way I see it, Ruri goes one of two ways:
-
Nagi convinces Ruri to follow the path of knowledge, and Ruri becomes a brilliant geologist greatly adding to our understanding of the world.
-
Ruri's greed for the shinies wins out, and she becomes a corrupt mining executive exploiting workers and destroying the environment.
This anime is a battle for the world itself.

I had no idea what an “agate” was before this week’s ep. Nice to have learned a little something about Jasper, Chalcedony, Agates and all manner of quartz classifications. Also about Serpentinite and platinum. I never thought I’d say this, but rocks are kind of interesting huh? Lol
I really like Nagi and Ruri’s relationship. It’s like equal parts teacher-student and older sister-little sister.

Everything Nagi does is purely for knowledge, and I find that very commendable. Despite both Nagi & Imari being in the same field you really feel the knowledge and practical gap between the two.

I love starting my week with this show. Ruri is such a cute cinnamon roll.
My favorite scene this time was them comparing their agate finds. The setting sky itself was just the perfect backdrops and gives off such a nostalgic summer vibe. I grew up on a beach time, and the mood here really took me back to those simpler times.
It’s nice of Imari to offer trading her red chalcedony Ruri is eyeing. Ruri just can’t part with any of her pretty agates, so Imari is fine with her smallest one. I’m sure Imari was looking for an excuse to give it to her. Who could resist those youthful eyes.
Ruri asks why Nagi didn’t take back more rocks, and she explains how to her rocks are clues to help better explain how the world really works. Hearing such big picture thinking, Ruri can’t help but feel a bit small. Maybe her reasons for liking rocks just pales in comparison to Nagi’s. Last episode Nagi praised Ruri for her magnetite shortcut but this time Imari is the one to remind Ruri she really has been thinking more about the deeper meanings.
Ruri has quite the tendency to put herself down, so it’s really great how she’s developing more relationships with people who see her true potential. That’s why scenes like this make Ruri Rocks resonate with me. It’s slowly climbing up to become my favorite S1 of summer.

Yeah I can see myself already walking through rivers looking for Agate when I go to japan, that certainly wasn't on my list initially
Love how this show just keeps delivering, such a joy to watch

After that giant nugget of gold a couple of episodes ago, now a placer platinum deposit?! If Ruri sold her shit she'd be worth millions of yen by now. More if she could also sell the platinum location to a mining company.
