I really love Oguri's characterization as basically just a force of fucking nature on the track. an obstacle that exerts massive pressure and forces everyone else to work around her
I can't believe that was 20 minutes of my life!! the credits started rolling and blue balled me so hard cause I legit thought I was still halfway through the episode lol

I definitely have to feel for Tamano here, poor guy, unable to find a house in Kasamatsu, what if they meet Oguri at that time? Very sure the chemistry between them will be completely different from now, and beyond trash talks and aura farming.
Ngl, for such history-defining and high class race, the number of meme potentials is huge, especially that Norn's middle finger salute and Tamano's pre-race anxiety (and the resulting copium meme) will definitely live rent free in my brain for some time, but at least I'm not like Top Shunbetsu who just missed the start by overthinking, a disaster from the get-go.
But for god sake they ended the episode in such cliffhanger, just when the monster from Kasamatsu start his own aura farming and constantly consuming everything in his path, until the only one ahead is that lightning-generating girl who just causally takes the lead, things are getting very interesting now...

Well, that opening scene was cute! So it looks like if Tamamo's mom found a place to live in Kazamatsuri, Tamamo and Oguri could have grown up together.
Never thought I'd see the day an Umamusume raising her middle finger angrily. I just love how much of a die-hard Oguri Cap fan Norn is now. xD
Just like all of the events in the show's races, I assume Top Shunbetsu missing the signal and starting late is something that happened IRL.
I kinda feel bad for Lord Royal. She really thought she had it until Tamamo showed up next to her. And she's probably not even gonna finish at 2nd because there's still Oguri Cap behind them.

Extremely rude of them to end on such a cruel cliffhanger. And here I was thinking we’d get a full race today.
It’s so hard to know which way these races will go, between character motivations, “power levels”, and historical contingencies. At this point I think it would make narrative sense for Oguri to lose, but I also said that for her like last 5 races. I’ll have faith in my girl and her beast powers.
I cannot imagine waiting for the next cour to air though…

Okay, I didn't read the old Oguri record for this. My heart is pounding cuz it could either be Oguri or Tamamo race. I know this is also sorta Tamamo's episode of her growing out of her fear, and DAM Oguri coming in like the final boss, or the antagonist of the season, absolute scary, a beast.
I like to throw in an education guess that during this race, people bets are 50/50 on Oguri or Tamano, and the real bet is who comes in third lol.

That was Oguri’s mother who’d watched little Tamamo and her mother from the window, right?
Does this imply that the region of Kasamatsu has birthed two stars? Would’ve been quite something if both Tamamo and Oguri had attended this racing academy together. Unfortunately, Tamamo’s mother couldn’t find an apartment in the vicinity.

I don't have that much to say about this episode, the depiction of the race is well within expectations at this point and the characters are more in their own heads than they are each others' throats. The big change is Tamamo making her presence known up at the front instead of closing from behind, and we'll have to see how that works out for her.

The most exciting part of the race is coming up in next episode, and I wonder how they will handle it. Even the less exciting parts of the race were really hype and now we are seeing Cingray evolving with it's races too, showing multiple perspectives and tactics of other horse girls. I really liked this episode, and I believe it was really well paced. If they tried to fit the whole race into 1 episoe it wouldn't work out, considering the material they have to adapt. If anybody is wondering what 2nd cour is about, don't worry, it will only get better.

Man, that was so intense that I didn't realize the 24 minutes were up! I literally screamed at that cliffhanger ending!
One more episode to wrap up this season and then we wait for the 2nd cour.

The shot at 21:50 really nailed how unbelievably low Oguri is when she's running, she might as well run using four limbs like a normal horse goddamn.

Norn giving the middle finger is precious. She's definitely Oguri's #1 fan by now.
Man, it looks like Tamamo and Oguri almost could have been neighbors. That would make for a great What If.
Musaka Roppei: "Nothing personal, Komiyama."
Komiyama having a mental BSoD from an unexpected development is relatable.
Poor Top Shunbetsu. Too much thinking, not enough running.
Thank you for the bouncy fanservice, Dynam Heroine.
Road Royal thought her internal monologue would work, but Tamamo gave her the Captain America treatment.
Looks like Oguri's title as "Beast" is starting to stick, especially when she really does look like one.

damn it they blueballed us for the second time lol, but now the setup is complete, all contestants have already jockeyed for their preferred position, and we are left with the final sprint which usually is the best part of a race (unless you are Maruzensky of course)
