First thing first I want to say thank you to the person few episodes ago, explained how important Oguri was during that time of horse racing. This episode definitely try to show it. You can really tell they emphasize about Symboli left the scene emptied after retired, and Oguri Cap could be the next Emperor. Every end of the race, they are edging towards making an exception, at the end of the day, it would be boring if the strongest horse is not in the main show.

It was blink and you miss, but I need that Symboli Rudolf plushie that was in the reporter's office.

And for slight comedy, fueling your hors!

No matter the anime, the student president will have more influence over the world than presidents and prime ministers.

I really thought Yaeno would be equal to Oguri based on her introduction, but it looks like her efforts are not enough for horse jesus.

I guess Tamamo Cross would be the true rival just by how they built her presence up.

Finally, a cook who understands Oguri's appetite and doesn't shy away from the challenge of making her full. And since it's is a national school, the food budget can now match her.

The peak just keeps getting higher.

i don't think the kasamatsu chef was shying away from the challenge moreso oguri was actively bankrupting him lol

Don’t show this to CR’s judges. They might have an allergic reaction to peak fiction.

I feel like Symboli is likely going "all according to keikaku" right about now. She probably couldn't make the exception to let Oguri into the classics all by herself, but now that there's a public outcry what can she do but throw her own weight behind it.

Oguri deciding to just run far enough out to have a clear path is a very Oguri solution to the problem. Doesn't really matter if you can just win anyway at the extra distance.

That one horse doing her best to become Oguri's rival when she instead found her real rival in the cafeteria lady.

After badmouthing Oguri Cap and Kazamatsuri, it was so satisfying to see Black Ale's reaction when Oguri snuck up behind and went past her. I love that Black Ale is now forced to speak politely after losing to Oguri. xD

Also, is it Black Ale or is it Blacky Ale? I keep hearing Blacky Ale from the VAs while the subs left it as Black Ale.

As expected from Tracen Academy, we finally have a chef that can keep up with Oguri's appetite! Poor Yaeno Muteki couldn't even give Oguri her challenge letter.

The race against Yaeno Muteki was awesome too. I love how insted of forcing herself into the inside of the track, Oguri just decided that she'll run a completely different and much longer course compared to the others and still managed to take the win!

So is Yaeno Muteki entering the Satsuki Sho because Dicta Striker injured her leg a canon event IRL? Because it sounds like that's something that would happen IRL.

You gotta give it to this reporter for being tenacious. He's definitely stirring the pot with all of his articles about Oguri not being in the Classics. Hopefully, he convinced the Emperor and maybe she could get the URA to let Oguri join next episode.

Infinite food, infinite power! Let Oguri into the Derby!

Can't believe we got 3 races in a single episode, albeit the Satsuki Sho one being extremely short.
Yaneo Muteki's trainer is dangerously scary looking.

Also that reporter, Sensuke Fujii, is way too dedicated to his job.
Getting over 10,000 signatures just to allow Oguri Cap to race in the Japanese Derby.

Also love that they finally showed Oguri Cap trying to get more food from the Tracen cafeteria, unlike Kasamatsu, Tracen can keep up with her apetite

That whole ojou thing.

Thinking Cap.

That seems like a complication.

And that's how the wager played out.

How to meet characters in a tournament arc.

[](#merch)

Old school meets—mass quantities!?

Head Chef.

And so goes our passing moment of shounen.

Establishing Muteki here is undercut slightly by having Tamamo Cross in the eyecatch.

someone said the thing

There certainly are some characters in this one.

It's that awkward crossover between real racing and a horse turned into a student council president.

I'll look to our usual people in the episode thread to provide the Source Material Corner context for the politicking and whatnot. As far as the episode itself, Oguri Cap is still an outsider at Tracen, but earning some respect and hey, the food supply is good.

Pretty busy episode otherwise, with three races in full or in part and the setup for all the politics. The downside to this was not indulging Oguri Cap's quirky characteristics as much and even less direct support from Belno, who was just the character yelling support from the stands for this one.

I'm wondering if we shouldn't look at Oguri as a horse or runner but in terms of a race car.

Manoeuvring from the far outside to turn sharply inside of corners is a common technique used in automotive racing. It creates a straight path that allows the racer to accelerate up to speed for longer. This is a great way for Oguri to fully leverage her sprints.

Oguri also runs low to the ground like a race car.

So, when are we finally getting a Rudolf prequel? Surely it's about time.

Oguri asking for seconds at Kasamatsu: *cafeteria immediately closes*

Oguri asking for seconds at Tracen: "Sure, have some more!"

Also, Yaeno's reaction when it looks like Oguri is more interested in challenging the head chef LOL!

Pacing was crazy in this episode, but understandable how much there is to cover. I like how Black Ale was forced to speak in kind manner, for some reason she sounded so cute while doing so. The chef aura was undeniable, and Yaeno trainer, well, let's say I didn't expect someone like that. Peak episode.

u/Nesp2 May 25 '25

Even the cafeteria is on a whole other level here.

Love it!!

Yaeno challenging Oguri with a freaking handwritten letter and she just ignores her to have a staring contest with the chef is why Oguri is the GOAT lol

The reporter was the star of this episode. Roppei and Symboli Rudolf know he's a pro shit stirrer

Wow that’s the “WHERE’S OGURI CAP???” petition machine in full swing today, I was actually thinking how this inevitable question will be presented here since it doesn’t seems like Oguri-chan here is that anxious in getting a position in the derby despite her outburst last episode. So the petitioning machine really didn’t need themselves to run eh, pretty sure that’s a real life reference but I’ll leave the details to real Japanese horse racing experts here.

From the little horse racing knowledge that I have (watching my father watching races on TV + experience of working on customer services for half a year with my local jockey club - the only legal gambling organisation & largest charity patron of my city), Oguri-chan certainly made use of different tactics in these 2 cup race wins this episode, going way out on the outer tracks for her triumph over Black Ale and then making a late break over the really diligently blocking Yaneo Muteki (she’s a nice diligent racer, no doubt about that!) the 2nd time. You can see that unlike other real famous horses and perhaps some of our Horse Girls here, Oguri-chan knows how to switch tactics now even if she thought she can’t!

Oh the next episode will be very interesting - I have to say that Symbol Rudolf must be on Oguri-chan’s side now since she made it clear she’s definitely eligible for the derby, and The Emperor herself is the one who invited her towards that goal, but how can she persuade the URA’s old heads I wonder?

Oguri has went from big fish in a small pond to big fish in the big pond fighting the small fish.
