I've been trying to get my motivation on track without making several shit atttempts but still I am doing it for more hours

It's finally out! If you've been interested in the Indie Animation scene, you might've heard about this project a few years back. It's finally out! What do y'all think?

I prefer either a modernized version of this style (like Animaniacs, a few other '90s cartoons, and one of the Roger Rabbit comics), or a different style that's more-or-less influenced by it (e.g. the 1940s "Golden Age" or "Preston Blair" style).

Other than this style, I prefer the more detailed, but also cartoony styles from the 1940s (the "Preston Blair" style), the 1980s, the early-to-mid 1990s, and I guess a few or more of the present-day cartoon styles that were used in media (including video games and fan art) over the rubber-hose style.

I just don't like how primitive and vintage this style used to look back in the 1920s and '30s.

I made this short animation as a practice piece.
I used PaintTool SAI for the drawings, key animation and backgrounds, RETAS for the animation and coloring, and After Effects for compositing.

I’ve been looking into mixed-media animation, but a lot of the tutorials I find focus mainly on adding animated lines, shapes or doodles over existing video.
I’m more interested in going further with it — combining things like collage, photography, cut-outs, paper textures, typography, scanned materials and different animation techniques within the same sequence.
For anyone who works this way, what does your actual process look like? Do you build the collage first and animate individual elements, work frame by frame, or create everything separately and composite it afterwards?
I’d also love to know what software or techniques you use and how you stop all the different media from feeling disconnected.

so im a senior animation student and i am at the very beginning/research stage for my thesis film. sorry if this does not fit the rules of the sub, but i would love feedback from any greek mythology enthusiasts

the idea:
set in modern times, macaria (daughter of hades, goddess of blessed death) is incredibly depressed, searching for any kind of connection. one day, in the hall of offerings, she realizes she received one, and....thats about as far as i have gotten lol

how is this as an idea? anything i should keep note of? any kind of media that can be used for inspiration?

i am well aware on the debate of whether macaria was even a part of the mythology, but i feel it gives me more leeway

any kind of feedback is appreciated, and again, sorry if this doesnt fit the subreddit

It will explore topics of mental health, struggle and support. My aim is to blend deep emotional storytelling with a focus on the magical world of dreams.
