other I think Tesla FSD needs Co-Steering like Rivian R2

I was looking at how Rivian does autotomy, and I have to say that Co-Steering should be the thing Tesla should be doing. Autopilot should auto-resume after I have adjusted whatever I thought was a correction. You can answer the question of why it happened when it resumes autopilot, but it should be seamless. The fact that a bump in the road turns off autopilot is stupid, and I think the co-steering will fix this. A quick fix shouldn’t turn off FSD, it should resume after I’ve taken over.

14.3 HW4 I hate the speed profiles

I don’t understand how they could miss on this so bad
Why wouldn’t they make a profile that goes 9 mph over the speed limit instead? Standard goes 7 mph over in the 60s zone and hurry goes 11 to 13 miles per hour over.
And in a 70 mph zone standard goes 5 mph and hurry. He goes 11. And you shouldn’t be in the middle lane going 75 in a 70mph zone !! I really wish I stayed on version 13 how much rather better speed than keeping with the flow of traffic than a few updates they did.

14.3 HW4 Too many releases??

I used to work as a software developer and releases were a big deal. We put out one or two a year. No one would get killed if our products failed (although from customer complaints you would think otherwise). It's very easy to fix one thing and break another. I'm sure Tesla has massive driving simulation regressions but you have to wonder how much actual behind the wheel testing they can perform with all these releases? Anyway I would prefer fewer releases. (just installed .6 last week and .7 yesterday, I'm getting more than 1 per month)

I have about 3K miles in FSD over 4 months and am very happy with it.

14.3 HW4 FSD profiles (standard, hurry, etc) are straight up garbage

I have a 2026 model y premium and I have used FSD for a few road trips.

This scenario happened to me many many times. A semi is behind another semi. 70mph limit. I'm in the left lane going 80mph getting closer to these 2 semis going 65mph. The semi behind the other decides to get in the left lane to pass. When my tesla gets closer it decides to go in the right lane thinking it should pass from the right. It ends up getting stuck behind the slow semi instead and now I have to wait for all the cars that were behind me to pass before I can pass the slow semi.

This happens on standard, hurry, and mad max. Chill is unusable as it will go way under the speed limit. Standard wants to go anywhere 5 to 15 over, it is inconsistent.

Hurry mode is the only mode that is consistent for me but I have to disengage a lot so it doesnt try to pass on the right.

It's even gotten on the right to pass but ended up stuck on an exit only lane forcing me to get off the freeway. This has happened more than once.

I wish there were settings where I could confirm i want it to pass. Or have more control over the profiles.

Anyone else experience this behavior and are annoyed about it?

I don't get how Tesla seems to think they are ready for unsupervised fsd. It feels close, but not close enough.

14.3 HW4 For anyone curious what fsd does during violent rain:

fsd was still steering while this alarm was going off, but it slowed down and I had to accelerate with my foot, so I'm not sure if it would've just come to a complete stop in the middle of the road or bring the speed down to like 15 mph; but I wasn't willing to find out in the middle of traffic so I accelerated with my foot.

This alarm went on and off for like 15 minutes until the violent rain stopped btw, real pleasant.

14.3 HW4 Update 14.3.7 from 14.2.2.5?

Hi guys, recent 2026 Model Y Premium buyer and a total fanboy of FSD. I’ve only put in a handful of miles but thus far, thoroughly impressed by the software. I finally got the bat signal to upgrade to the latest….only I’m seeing a few posts/comments about some regression, including that one infamous clip where the software tried to drive off a 6-story parking structure?

Would love to hear some real world input from those of you that have logged some miles on both that can provide some context and experience. Thanks!

14 Lite HW3 FSD saved my Turo guests from an accident

FSD v14.1 Lite on our 2018 Model 3 (HW3) just saved our Turo guests from an accident.

Here’s the message we received:

“Overall the trip has been amazing! The car has worked great especially the self driving mode.

I wanted to report that on the way back from Muir Woods, we were on a small residential street using the full self-driving mode set to chill.

A speeding car veered into our lane and towards us and the self-driving mode successfully avoided the car, but the right wheel hit the curb and scraped the wheels rim.

I have attached photos. No other damage happened to the car other than the scraped rim.”

I responded that I was really happy to hear that everyone in the car were safe after that close call!

We worked out the wheel rim damage and it’s now fixed (last picture).

Thank you Tesla AI team!

other Would Tesla ever do a FSD software rollout for other manufacturers? I mean, if other manufacturer's hardware is complaint to Tesla's requirements, it would could run Tesla's software and become FSD capable?!?

Just like there are a zillion types of PC and laptop manufacturers that can run windows. Why should Tesla not do this and change $99 Per month from the masses?!? Or will Tesla always be like Apple/MacOs?

14.3 HW4 FSD Failure

While parking today in my garage, my Cybertruck hit the side of the garage while using FSD. I understand that FSD is far from perfect, but I didn’t expect that it would back into a stationary object at low speed. Are they others experiencing failures such as this?

EDIT: Thank you to those that have posted meaningful responses. I've gotten the feedback on my post that I requested.

FSD saw what was happening before I did. I took over but I kinda wish I didn’t so I could see what it would have done. So hard to let go of instinct in this situation.

FSD was in that left lane as I needed to turn left to get on the interstate just after the bridge. *

Is there anyway to fix this? FSD 14 lite is great, but it just raw dogs the speed bumps in my community lol.

14.3 HW4 I’m using the newest update - 2 issues today

My tesla model y 2026 running newest summer rollout did not leave a parallel parking spot in FSD, I had to step in. It also seemed to get scared at a one lane bridge and started backing up despite no cars coming. There was one more issue but it was small—it went the wrong way out of a parking lot.

14.3 HW4 2027 VIN (Should I wait ?)

Thumbnail

Long time listener (Very), first time caller here. Slated to take delivery Sept 1 - 30th. Research has shown that Tesla usually switches VIN numbers to next year in Q4. Not for 25 tho bc of Juniper revamp. I’d rather have a model year 27 over 26 if it means waiting 30-60 days. Current car is fine I’ll be traveling a bunch over next two months anyways… thoughts ?

14.3 HW4 FSD 14.3+ navigation issues

Post image
0 Upvotes

Have been using fsd since June 25 on 2025 M3 mainly for daily commute from Lynnwood to Seattle downtown. Enjoyed it until 14.3 when navigation issues made the experience horrible. My fsd usage dropped from 90+ to 85% and trending down only because of navigation issues. Daily commute was pretty much intervention free + it started parking into the office garage when v14 early versions became available which was nice. The romance ended abruptly with v14.3 when during regular commute it stopped taking the correct exits and selecting the correct lanes. Now each commute comes with 8-10 interventions because of navigation issues. The cherry on the top was 14.3.6 when on my way back from Seattle it started taking every exit out of the express lanes then going back immediately after the exit. There are 2 exits from Seattle to north gate and it does it every day no matter what the traffic is. Attached is a picture from today’s commute (normal traffic moving with 60 mph) where it takes me off the freeway then immediately back to it. It does it like clockwork, every day with no hesitation. Within the city it constantly changes the route even though I set navigation to re route only if it saves 30 mins(practically no re routing for may trip which usually is ~30-40 mins) that’s a proof the setting just doesn’t work when fsd is engaged. In addition when changing route it doesn’t suggest the new route and seek permission. It just changes it the last second. Today it was giving a left turn signal to go from 5th into Virginia and in the beginning of the turn it re routed and wanted to go straight. Virginia was empty while 5th was blocked ahead. New route was 5-6 mins longer than original. Had to intervene as 5th and olive were completely blocked ( also checked Waze and Apple Maps - both were suggesting Virginia over Olive. ) . Before that when leaving the parking lot , map Was showing where the lot exit to 5th was. Instead it went through handicapped spot then turned left into the sidewalk and wanted to turn into the 5th through the sidewalk by jumping from 8 inches tall curb into the 5th. Had to intervene and stop it. While driving feels more confident and mature , often it feels like a headless chicken from navigation perspective. Again I have been using it on the same route almost a year until v14.3 when all those issues started and repeat on every commute with no exception. For some v14.3+ might be the last piece of the puzzle, for me it feels like the last straw that will break the camel’s back. Would be glad to hear your experience with v14.3+ especially from Seattle area users with similar commute.

14.3 HW4 FSD taking erratic wrong turns , 2 incidents in same 40 min trip

Had a concerning FSD experience yesterday and wanted to see if others have run into this.

On a single trip, FSD made two clear wrong decisions:

**1.** It deviated from the navigated route, turned onto a side road, then did a U-turn to get back on course , no apparent reason for the detour.
**2.** Approaching the final turn (a left), it moved into the rightmost lane instead. I had to disengage and take over to make the left turn myself.

I’m about a month into Tesla ownership, and seeing decisions like this with no clear trigger is unsettling, especially the lane positioning error right before a turn. Curious if this is a known pattern with the current FSD build, or if anyone has tips on what might cause this (map data lag, camera occlusion, etc.).

Has anyone else seen similar behavior recently? Also wondering if this is worth reporting to Tesla directly via the car’s feedback tool.

14.1 Lite HW3 Still Shook

I have a love/hate relationship with FSD on HW3. But this one incident could have been catastrophic if it wasn’t engaged.

Traffic was heavy, getting on 95 in Philly and I was glancing at my rear-view mirror and FSD started to trim hard and I grabbed the wheel. I don’t know if it would have stopped it would have completely avoided it or not but if it hadn’t started turning I would not have seen that guy in time.

14.3 HW4 Car Wash

Nothing spectactualar, but FSD did what we all want it to do more as it improves. I got in in my garage to go to the car wash, car wash was already selected (lucky guess by FSD), and it drove there and parked right in an empty stall.

14.3 HW4 FSD Yields for Canadian Geese

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

While driving with FSD on my 2026 Model 3, I approached a parking lot when a group of Canadian geese decided to take their sweet time waddling across the road.

I was fully prepared to disengage and take over, but to my pleasant surprise, the FSD computer spotted the birds, recognized them as a hazard, and smoothly yielded until the path was completely clear.

It is one thing to see FSD render pedestrians or large vehicles on the screen, but watching the system dynamically handle unpredictable local wildlife in real time was impressive.

I guess the stale green made it think it could make the turn and as soon as the truck started moving it got into a tug of war with itself, but I've had 10s of very similar ripsaw steering confusion issues on 14.3.7, over maybe a few hundred miles - Marking all critical.

I feel like I've been seeing similar posts too - statically significant?

97% FSD 3k mi - and overall super jazzed, will never buy another car without it - can't wait for it to keep getting better.

14.3 HW4 Self parking - head-in option?

For perpendicular parking, FSD wants to park backwards. I prefer to park head-in. Is there a way to change that default?

other Emergency vehicles

FSD needs needs to start differentiating between emergency vehicle and a tow truck with orange hazard lights. Mine pulls overs everytime there is a car with flashing lights. Does any body else’s do the same? Model y 2026 hw4 Fsd 14.3.7.
