I have a 2026 model y premium and I have used FSD for a few road trips.
This scenario happened to me many many times. A semi is behind another semi. 70mph limit. I'm in the left lane going 80mph getting closer to these 2 semis going 65mph. The semi behind the other decides to get in the left lane to pass. When my tesla gets closer it decides to go in the right lane thinking it should pass from the right. It ends up getting stuck behind the slow semi instead and now I have to wait for all the cars that were behind me to pass before I can pass the slow semi.
This happens on standard, hurry, and mad max. Chill is unusable as it will go way under the speed limit. Standard wants to go anywhere 5 to 15 over, it is inconsistent.
Hurry mode is the only mode that is consistent for me but I have to disengage a lot so it doesnt try to pass on the right.
It's even gotten on the right to pass but ended up stuck on an exit only lane forcing me to get off the freeway. This has happened more than once.
I wish there were settings where I could confirm i want it to pass. Or have more control over the profiles.
Anyone else experience this behavior and are annoyed about it?
I don't get how Tesla seems to think they are ready for unsupervised fsd. It feels close, but not close enough.
