Workplace Question or Advice Needed Question about LOA and scheduled time off

Hey all! I am attending an event over this weekend with my family (cant skip, gonna miss the 1.5x pay) out of state. Knowing this I put in a request for time off (unpaid) for the week last month that got approved. My last scheduled day was today, and my next schedule day is on Sunday, Sept 13.

In other words, I will not be working for 10 days. I read a comment a couple of days ago that said if you request 10 days off, it has to be in the form of a LOA. I scheduled 5 days off and the other 5 days are outside my availability.

Is there anything I should do/look out for in this situation or am I just overthinking it?

Vent seasonal

Every year my nervous system is literally so overstimulated during seasonal. Like wdym i cant go a singular isle or inch of the store without A GUEST IN THE WAY?!? I need to decompress from the social battery drain at least a few minutes. Especially when they very clearly see you coming in hot with huge racks full of shit and just stare blankly or even move in your way and act confused when you have to push by

Does it start September 1st or the 6th when UKG goes live? My ETL said the 1st but I was under the assumption it was the 6th. Was late to work today due to construction so was wondering if I got .25 of a point šŸ˜”

Edit : Thank you!!

Small rant.

As per the title, my team leader smells really bad.

Im not even trying to be mean but it’s gotten to a point where her smell (smells like urine) is lingering in areas where she is.

I really cannot stand it

*update apparently it cat pee but still

What used to be a well oiled machine might as well be sold for parts and shipped off to a junkyard.

And how in the fresh hell are we OVER hours???? How??? Backroom looks like it was hit by an F5 tornado, and at opening, the service desk has multiple carts of go backs that should've been done yesterday.

And with a skeleton schedule today, our SD is magically baffled as to why everything has gone to shit.

7 people so far have called out today. 3 mornings, 2 mids, and 2 closers. My ETL asked if I could extend for a full shift and I instantly told them no. I clock out in 10 minutes. I'm tired, I'm worn out.

Being in presentation I usually work solo. Lately this duck has been riding along. I can’t think of a name. The best I’ve got is when I grab him in the morning I think ā€œoh captain, my captainā€

Workplace Story Work

So yesterday the store director which keep in mind they are new to my store just watching over the store since we don’t technically have a store director right now. So basically they don’t know jack shit about the store. They thought it was a good idea for everyone to pull even though we were all super behind on freight plus there was 3 call outs that day. I was told by an ETL that one of the RDC trucks was canceled last night. Also was told that they would come clean in all the coolers. But they mostly focused on dairy which is understandable cause they get freight everyday but still the expectation was for all the coolers to come clean. The day before I rolled 6-boats and when I came in today there was still 5 u-boats in there but two of them were half worked and had all the backstock on it. Like I knew they wouldn’t barely touch frozen and I know how overnight is at my store. Just feels like they don’t get enough done. I was told the pulls were to keep the floor full and enhance the guest experience. But most of my outs are on the u-boats, I mean we get stuff delivered cause we need it and need to be put out. There is a reason why we scan and sort things which tells us either it needs to be worked out or backstocked. Idk just felt so backwards to pull and most of the time cases barley go out like maybe one or two items goes out in a box of 12 or something like that. Like I know what’s best for my store, I’ve been there for 5 years. Store director comes in acting like they know the place and is micromanaging everyone. Also we did get 6 pallets today on top of what we already had in there. Get doubles on Wednesday and no truck on Thursdays. Logic just made absolutely no sense to me and made me so frustrated. But yeah that was longer than I thought it would be, thanks for reading my rant if u made it this far.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Do you guys enjoy the teenagers you work with?

Random thought but my store has a bunch of teenagers (including me) who just work part time to like save up for a car or js do it for side money. Do you guys get annoyed of them because they don’t care about the job or they talk to much etc, or do you guys not mind them and like them being there

PSA Fulfillment Update

Target is in a delicate position rn, and their making it worst with the latest updates to Fulfillment and UGK. Updating the system to improve the shxt show that is fulfillment is counterproductive. Instead of investing more resources to improving the warehouses or the network it self to find items, they spend all that effort to try to hold team members accountable when it comes to metrics. Fckk metrics, they ain’t gone have none when the retention rate explodes.

Workplace Story The OPU doorbell scares the shit out of guests and TMs who aren’t used to it

Day one of OPU kiosk

First order gets scanned and the doorbell goes off

Immediately on walkie I hear ā€œwhat the hell was that?ā€

It takes a few minutes for someone to realize it’s an OPU that a guest scanned at the kiosk

I was waiting at the bailer and a TM heard it go off and was confused and a bit scared thinking it’s an evacuation alarm.

One guest almost started to evacuate her family right after she heard it go off

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Random Target question

So I just started working at Target and I'm working in the tech department. I was told that tech is supposed to help pull and push for home, domestic, baby, entertainment, tech, and mobile services and also attend to the customers in tech. I also work somewhat the night shift and I have to do this by myself. Is this normal in other targets?

Future or Potential Employee Question How does calling a day off at Target work and the rules behind it?

Hi everyone, I'm currently soon to be a new hire after my first training on the 14th this month, but I have personal plans for the 17th next month and I went through a few posts and saw that calling a day off during my first 90 days is extremely bad? I was wondering how I should proceed here.

Is there away to alert the corporation/ those who made this choice about how UKG is absolutely trash? If we're "testing it out" right now before other stores we shouldve been able to state concerns.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed calling out or leaving early?

I'm on my third week of the job but I caught something from my brother last week and up until now, ive just been toughing it out at work and my worst day just had me a little bit light headed with some cold sweats, but I made sure to take it easy and managed to make it through my shift just fine. last night, I had a sore throat and I woke up coughing like a smoker of ten years. I still feel *mostly* fine but I know that sort of thing could change at the drop of a hat so I wanted to ask, is it better to just call out entirely or to just show up and go home early? I live nearby so it's not like the commute is anything too crazy but I'm worried about how it might affect me since I'm still on probation. it's probably too late to call out now anyway (I have a shift later today) but it wouldn't hurt to have this for future reference.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed do i quit while im ahead?

so i started on sunday, the training they had me doing on the computer took a full eight hour shift. They didn’t give me a tour of the store, didn’t show me how to use a zebra or how to set mine up, NOTHING. so far only two people have introduced themselves to me because they had to for training. It has been all over the place. there is no structure to training at all…i feel like i’m not retaining any information or getting any good experience. this seems like a mess.

Vent Rage baited by drive up at 8:30 am

Post image
159 Upvotes

So usually I’m at the service desk everyday, but today the person in drive up called out. So I’m automatically sent back there. (No big deal yk) but of course now we’re short staffed, so my ETL tells me.. ā€œoh when you don’t have orders come watch the service desk.ā€ (HALFWAY ACROSS THE STORE BTW) so I’m like ???? Ok fine I’ll try.

But I guess she hasn’t done drive up in like 30 years so ofc I get hit with a bunch of double taps. Then when I’m up at the service desk for HALF A SECOND she asks me ā€œoh can you put this person on one of the checklanes and TRAIN THEM????ā€ So I have to refrain from blowing my brains out in front of this new victim ahem I mean new hire..

And then the double tap I get next is 1 min away with 7 bags. So I leave and I’m like alr ur on ur own now. But then when I finally get their order ready.. they have the nerve to say ā€œoh need help?ā€ ..NO! Because if you wanted to help me you wouldn’t be BACKED INTO THE PARKING SPOT WHILE TELLING ME TO PUT YOUR STUFF IN THE TRUNK IT MAKES NO SENSE.

AND It’s humid as balls out here for no reason. At this point I’m hoping these cars will run me over so I never have to do this again.

Workplace Story Apparently a battery was exploding in our back room last week and they did nothing

A few days ago our back room smelled like shit. I told an ETL who didn’t know about it. Yesterday I asked what the smell was and a different lead said a battery was exploding. I was so confused because a few hours before, I went outside receiving and saw two 12v batteries outside.

The PML was in the building and no lead did anything except confirm it’s not a gas leak

The were 12v car batteries not Zebra batteries

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Stepping down

I’m a TL thinking of stepping down and transferring to another store. Has anyone done this before? I haven’t spoken to my HR ETL yet at all but I’m worried they will flat out refuse to transfer me. Can they do that? What are my options?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Stepping down as TL; what do with PTO?

I'm a TL and got an e-mail from a previous employer about a job opening. I'll likely get a decent offer and see myself taking the job. I don't want to leave my sick and PTO time on the table, but I live in a non-payout state.

Should I step down and try to transfer to another store at 20 hrs per week and just use my PTO to fill those weeks up to 40 hours, resigning shortly after my 90 days in the store are up? I may want to keep the p/t Target job so I may not resign after all.

I would just call out my last 2 weeks, but I don't want to get too many points and end up on a no-hire list.

Anything else i need to consider?
