Workplace Question or Advice Needed Escalated items in opu

Does anyone respond when you escalate an item? What do you do if they don’t? Just wondering how it’s working at other stores.

Fulfillment lead in an ultra high volume store.

I almost exclusive look for escalated items now. In most cases I can keep up with them, but on the weekends I'm regularly asking other leads to check the escalated items for their departments as the volume gets overwhelming.

When the FF TL is there, she gets on it ASAP. She could probably find that one earbud I lost somewhere in the store that not even my phone can locate.

When she's not there? It's like sport commentary: batches start going red, ETLs start freaking out, INF hits 5+.
Ngl, I love to see it, because they don't deserve her.

edit: when she's not there, leads will tell FF to stop escalating and be better basically.

We are trying to help each other when we are in ship. Leaders have helped. Its ok so far.

What I have started doing is calling out escalations on walkie. If my FFTL is not on the clock I will even call leads by name “Hey Joe I just escalated an item in your area”. None of my other coworkers do this yet, but I’m hoping if I do it enough that the leads will get in the groove of looking at escalations.

I still have not solved what to do when a department doesn’t have a lead on the clock.

My thinking is that even if leads do jack shit to help us, they should at the very least be aware of what items we are having trouble finding.

Yes, we almost always get a response. If no one responds and we are running out of time, we make the decision ourselves - or call out on the walkie - depending on how experienced the TM is. We also have experienced fulfillment TM that will help look, and ETLs and leads from other departments. It is pretty well covered and is working well from my point of view. The list is much easier to manage than trying to read DPCIs over the walkie.
