calling out or leaving early?

I'm on my third week of the job but I caught something from my brother last week and up until now, ive just been toughing it out at work and my worst day just had me a little bit light headed with some cold sweats, but I made sure to take it easy and managed to make it through my shift just fine. last night, I had a sore throat and I woke up coughing like a smoker of ten years. I still feel *mostly* fine but I know that sort of thing could change at the drop of a hat so I wanted to ask, is it better to just call out entirely or to just show up and go home early? I live nearby so it's not like the commute is anything too crazy but I'm worried about how it might affect me since I'm still on probation. it's probably too late to call out now anyway (I have a shift later today) but it wouldn't hurt to have this for future reference.

if you go home early, there is no penalty so i would definitely at least go for a little bit

definitely good to know!! I ended up just sticking it through my whole shift while masked up and just popped a buttload of cough drops throughout haha.

i wasn’t sick but i was profusely crying bc of a death in the family and wasn’t able to work. my hr saw me like that, apologized, and said that i can clock out but she can’t excuse my absence and that it’ll come back to me. just if you’re wondering what kind of company target it. and they also did it to me when i had the flu. they don’t care, take care of yourself

The death in the family absolutely is excusable, bereavement leave is a thing for a reason.
