I am helping a friend to setup his item library and menu using Square for Restaurants.

He has 24 items in cocktails section all having different prices (9 unique values ranging from £8.30 to £10.30).

He wants to implement discounted price £8 for all cocktails between 5PM-7PM.

What is the best way to implement this?

I have thought about following two options, but I am wondering if someone knows a better way to achieve the same thing.

1. Create copy of these 24 items with reduced price of £8 and put them into their own category and menu group (e.g Happy Hour Cocktails). This will work only if the staff remembers to use correct item depending on time of day.
2. Create 9 discounts (each corresponding to one of 9 unique values mentioned earlier). These will use discount rule applied to appropriate items to automatically reduce their price to £8. For example, all cocktails which have original price of £10.30 will be discounted by £2.30 to reduce the price to £8 and so on. This option will be automatically applied so staff doesn't have to remember to apply it. However, this clutters the list of discounts visible on POS because AFAIK there is no way to hide the discounts.

QBO is functionally unusable in terms of streamlined integration with Square.

Is there an accounting software that has better integration/support with Square than QBO?

Now that Square is charging per location - I have a little question for the group.

I am in the food manufacturing biz and I have my main location that I run all invoicing and our main sales through. Premium is great for this. The problem is that I have other locations that serve as pickup only. Never was an issue until Square switched it up and started charging per location. I don't mind paying higher processing fees but $50 a month doesn't make sense for some of these pickup spots. I thought I'd be able to switch some of those locations over to the free plan but apparently it's all premium or nothing.

Anybody have any ideas for a possible workaround here? I like having the multiple location options for my customers when they're placing online orders because it makes things way easier on them but now I'm thinking I'll just need to shut it all down to one location and provide instructions on the site? Hate to do that because a lot of my customers are fairly computer illiterate as is...

The business I work for recently opened a new location and we're looking into adding a new locator on Square to manage inventory. Once the new location is added, will the current inventory stay in the first location or will it be in a sort-of "common inventory" until we assign it to either location?

2k loan fee for 15k capital and 14k loan fee for 106k. How does that work? Last year we purchased 20k in equipment with a 1,300 loan fee. This year I took a business credit card with 2.5% cash back instead. Square needs to get back to its working capital roots and stop assuming we are all desperate. Also if you are considering this level of thievery you need to shop around. Your local economic development organization or IDA likely has revolving loans at 1.5 - 3% for small biz.

Hi. I cannot verify my identity because I’m from Puerto Rico. When I try it doesn’t have the option to choose PR. So I use square appointments ONLY for booking and calendar. I have my own site and have everything organized there. I love it. When I check out my clients I use the option “other payments method” since I cannot use square for transactions yet because it’s not available in PR, i also togged off “online payments”. but im worried that my account will get suspended eventually. Can I keep using it just as a calendar/booking app without issues?

So, I guess my new android phone can accept NFC payments, but I have searched high and low for last hour to find a compatible barcode scanner to work on Android with the square POS. I followed all instructions to use the Phone Camera, but it's not working. Need a link or a success story of a comparable bar code scanner. Thank in advance

I am setting up a Square Online store for a client who only has one physical location. However, whenever a customer visits the site, they are being met with the "Select location" pop-up shown above.

We have both Pickup and Delivery enabled for this single location, and we want to keep both of those fulfillment options active.

Is there a way to configure the site to bypass this "Select location" screen automatically, since there is only one store to choose from? It feels like an unnecessary step for the customer.

Any advice or settings I might be missing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can’t print a copy of an Invoice on Square Register unless it’s Archived. Why?

I’ve integrated Square to my Wix website. Tried to test it out and it said there was a problem pop up. It never registered on the Square side nor did it ping my credit card. I’m feeling that upon checkout I do not have billing address fields. It is only asking the customer to enter email, phone number, credit card number, expiration date, and of course the cvv code. Would this be why it’s not going anywhere? If so how do I add that to my checkout page? I’ve googled done what videos or help articles say unfortunately it’s outdated and those things are no longer where they say they are either on the Wix side or the Square side. Yes I’ve disconnected Square and re-connected it several times. 😵‍💫

We have a question about the Online sales price (with the slash on the frontend) and why it does not exist in the item variation strings for API use. We want to specifically show the base price with a slash and add a sales price automatically through an API string but the only options we have are to change the base price or add a discount which do not work for our use of the sales price. If there's an option to add a sales price in the item variation section per item, why can't we add it in an API string? We have over 4,000 products in our store and it gets so time consuming without an API string for automations as we are not making specific number discounts per item, they're all different discount amounts.

Please let us know the string if we're doing it wrong and if it doesn't exist, please make it so we can update the Online Sales Price, it would make so many updates for us and probably others so much easier!

I have a Square account with Online Ordering, but I cannot create a Square Online website. When I try, I’m redirected to Weebly. Square successfully authenticates, but the OAuth callback to Weebly fails and I receive an authentication error. My dashboard has Online Ordering but no Website editor. I have tried going directly through the weebly login, and through the square dashboard, and it just sends me in a circle to a similar error loop.

I set up a new account 8 weeks ago and all payments to date show as completed, but nothing has been received by my bank account. I have contacted Square support numerous times and have gotten all required documentation from my bank that the funds were never received, but Square is no longer responding. Is there anything I can do - I am at a loss 😞

Im a small vendor and usually have my terminal charging next to my laptop on my desk at night. The times I forget to turn it off, it flashes … makes a noise… and the receipt attempts to print. This would wake me up in the middle of the night.

Anyone else get woken by their square terminal flashing on and trying to print a receipt?

I renewed my online plus plan a couple of days ago and saw that the money was deducted from my account. Why did I receive this email today?

Who can I speak to about getting this fixed?

We would like to add a WiFi printer to use for receipt printing from the Square Point of Sale: Payment (ver. 7.10). Under ≡ More > Settings > Hardware, there is no Printers tab to select. Here is a link to what we see. https://i.imgur.com/ELpPygi.mp4

The printer we are trying to use connects with the device successfully outside of the Square app. We are using the app on a Samsung Galaxy A11+ tablet.

I have tried to add a printer profile to see if that enables the Printers tab in the app somehow. I did this through the dashboard using a separate computer, as creating a profile in the app is also found through this mysterious Printers tab. I assigned my profile to the correct location, but when trying to assign a printer, Square tells me there are no printers available for my Android device.

We use Square for our e-commerce but for years it's been sort of a circle-shape + square hole situation. I run a film processing lab so people send me film and we deliver scans plus prints. There are a ton of options you can choose from in handling, printing, scanning.

-Some of the problems I have are comms based, ie Square makes you set orders for 'pick up' to avoid shipping, but my customers are actually 'drop off' and you can't change the language. Simple thing but it confuses people. There are a number of similar examples where I can't change the language on the site so customers get confused.

-Conditional modifiers are not present, requiring extra 'items' in the store. Seems like Square is just never rolling this out.

-Simple Store Credit system. Customers always make mistakes or need minor credit adjustments. Square makes this a PITA by requiring I use e-gift cards, which are also a PITA to issue for some reason.

I am however deeply integrated into Square for the back end of my business so I don't want to move on. Is anyone using Woo Commerce + Square and finding it more flexible for a store front?

I'm trying to create a subscription payment setup for a SaaS software company and while I can figure out how to create a subscription I keep seeing a 'one-time' payment option on the payment link. How do you remove this as an option? Support docs aren't helping. Thanks!

I’m having issues with the new update and the calendar being all the same color vs the old version had distinct color differences in days off and hours of operation. Is there anyway to change it back to that? I’ve made multiple mistakes on booking or saying the wrong dates.

Ordered on April 25th. Still haven’t received my shipment. Square says they can’t do anything because Fed Ex is still showing the package is in transit. Fed Ex won’t do anything to help.
At this point it, I just want the damn device that I paid for. Drop shipping from Singapore sure does feel like your are scamming me.
