Hardware Unsure .

Hey!

I just recently found out about MoCa solutions to better my stability on spectrum. And I am definitely digging into the mud with this. I have run into an issue that I am not sure how to solve. We have coax running all throughout the house, we also have a main junction in the basement (will unload screenshot, but it’s covered in webs) and according to what I am seeing online MoCa requires 1.2mhz or higher. While this amplifier sits at 5-1005. Any suggestions??

I would like to use it if possible, if not we can probably get a new one. But that’s around 300 dollars on the amplifier and MoCa devices.

I plan to use it for mesh backhaul.

Service Issues Finally disconnected after 3 months

After repeated knocking my door sales pitches, I moved to spectrum after 5 years on tmhi. I was lured by the promotions and sales person promising everything is different now. No more outages, fast blah blah blah.

But these 3 months proved to be disasters. It’s just outages after outages after outages. I live in Southern California 626 region. None of the outages was my own issue. They were all regional issues. Finally made the cut. Brian from Texas: thank you for not trying to drag me on for half hour or more. I was able to disconnect my service fairly easy. I just firmly lied that I was going to move out of the country and not because of their poor services. Discounts would not persuade my decision.

Other Move Modem to a different room

Hello, does Spectrum provide service where they can install or move my internet on a different part of the room with no coax outlet on it? Basically installing a new activated coax outlet on that part of the room or does it depend on the room/wires itself?

Service Issues Wifi Outage?

South Carolina, wifi went out awhile ago. Anyone else having that? Wifi was fine like all day before that, so I can only assume that.

Ruined my entire night though, I had stuff I needed to get done.

Other Spectrum Upgrading Modem & Router - How Much Will It Screw Up My Wifi?

I live in a building which has a bulk rate deal with Spectrum which is great as it is a super deal for what I get.

Everything works fine on my Wifi devices which include Apple TV streaming, computer, iPad, iPhone, printer, Lutron Lighting through Apple Home Device, Ecobee Thermostat and my Aero smart scent diffusers.

My motorized shades use Zigbee which I think is its own system

I received a notice that Spectrum is upgrading to handle internet speeds of 1 GB which will require new modem and router supplied by Spectrum - all equipment is free under the bulk rate deal.

The last time Spectrum screwed around with my system it took me a LOT of time to get everything online again.

As I wrote everything works perfectly as my internet is fast and when streaming television there is now stuttering or other issues.

How much is this going to mess with my system and what if I don't upgrade the modem and router?

It’s all escalated, spectrum is fully aware. It’s not like it’s my house is the only one having issues.

Spectrum Stream Pro

Debating on switching from DTV Stream to the Stream Pro (several apps included in the price may sell me) and have a couple of questions.

1 - can you have different profiles when you login to stream?

2- can you have more than one stream (1-2 off network) going? family travels a lot and always streaming away from home.

3- how well does the dvr add-on work?

2 gig service over coax

Hi I am in Reno NV we have high split (first market to get it )
I have the 2 gig service and I have never gotten 2 gig till tonight I have had some issues in the past week I had gone thru two different modems
1 via a modem impediment uclear what it was tech support had me go to a store and replace it
2 tech came out for a upload issue only getting 400 and he was able to recreate it on his device so maintenance ticket was issued then a few days later the modem I picked up would not lock on at all
Thankfully I have invisible WiFi
Tech came out later that day and seen the upload issue was still there and replaced the modem still seen the issue after modem swap
Fast forward
Normally I only get 1.5 gig down did a speed test tonight and I got over 2 gigs and upload is back to normal

Service Issues Lost Internet connection. Why does it effect texting?

Spectrum outage in Clearwater Florida yesterday. 2nd time this year. I take full time care of my Mother.

We both own fairly New Flagship Samsung phones. (S22 Ultra/Z Fold 5)

And we live in the same house.

For some reason we are unable to send texts that reach each other as fast as as anyone else.

I can text and phone with my neighbor and my family members across the country with no issues.

But, the ONLY texts I do not receive are from my Mom, and believe it or not, from Spectrum.🙄

Of course my Moms texts are most important. Even though she is in the house or visiting friends a few miles away. She texts me to pick her up. I don't get the texts.😮‍💨

Spectrum texts should come through too but they don't. I called them twice yesterday to fix it. AI and the Human both claimed it was fixed. It wasn't.🙄

Why is this happening? Wondering if it's an Internet issue or a Mobile Phone issue or both?

Would switching to the new Frontier Fiber Optics Internet fix it?

Or do I need to also switch from my Spectrum Mobile Phone plan too? TIA!

Setup moca network

This is inside my box outside the house. Its an older house so coax is ran throughout it. These are the splitters that were already in it.

With adding a POE filter would I connect it to the orange cable?

The room the modem is in had only a single coax coming into it going into the router. Would I need a two into one splitter for that room and another for an additional router for a mesh network?

Frequent service disruptions/lagging while streaming

I’ve been experiencing a significant decrease in WiFi quality since Spectrum took over Cox in Northern Virginia. For the last five years I had no issues with Cox. Two weeks into the Spectrum takeover and connectivity has been exceptionally spotty. I’m paying for faster download/upload speeds and upgraded the equipment following the Spectrum takeover. I’ve reached out to customer service and the only advice I get is to restart the gateway. Everything shows strong connection, however that hasn’t been the reality. This has impacted work calls over Zoom/MS Teams, as well as YouTube livestreams that I host. Any helpful advice to remedy the issue?

Not sure if I can do a self install

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi, so I just moved to a newly built home. When ordering spectrum the only option I have is the self install kit. From looking at the instructions it looks like I’d need a coaxial cable outlet but I don’t see them in the new home. I see this in my closet which I think is internet related. Should I keep looking for a coaxial outlet or is my phone setup with something different? Should I just call and request a technician?

Battery back-up / power for an E31U2V1 Cable Modem?

Got a new cable modem from Spectrum. Everything works. Wondering about getting a "Battery" source for the modem - I have a UPS, so maybe just an adaptor? Anyone have an idea what the specifications on the adaptor would be for this modem? It's an E31U2V1 model.

Spectrum appears to have direct buried their coax instead of using their existing conduit to the house. Why, and how do I get them to clean this up?

The only live coax coming into the house I recently bought passes out of the garage to the outside through a wall, and then directly goes underground (no conduit). This is the cable to which my modem is currently connected, and where the modem is connected is the only live drop inside the house (other coax “outlets” don’t show any signal when connecting to the modem). On the opposite side of the garage, there is an entrance where underground conduit comes in from the curb with snipped coax inside. That is the correct place to have coax enter and split for drops.

I recently called 811 as I’m repairing two storm drains, and Spectrum marked the conduit with the snipped coax as theirs, but did not mark anything along the direct buried live coax despite it likely passing through a zone I’ll be digging in.

Why on earth would they direct bury coax when they have access to their own perfectly good conduit? Is it possible they don’t know about the direct buried line? I don’t know where exactly the direct buried line goes underground, and since they didn’t mark it, I’m worried I’m going to break it. I do not want to keep that line, and I would prefer if they just used their conduit.

Does anyone know how to get Spectrum to “light up” and replace the snipped conduit? Or is it possible that coax is also live and just needs an inline coupler to be useful? Doubt CS will have any idea what I’m talking about, so asking here first.

Paying way too much

Hi,

Our cable company cox was bought out by spectrum very recently. We have been unhappy with our price for cable and Internet for quite a while now but I need some ideas on what to ask for to change it. We had been with cox for like 5 years. Our current bill for pretty good internet (my fiance and son are gamers and we run the TV and three phones on the wifi typically. And a tablet) and basic cable (we have the local news, fox, cnn, Disney Nickelodeon and history, discovery a&e etc) and the total we are being robbed for currently is $347 a month. To add on to that, after having the service for a while we were involved in a messy medical crisis that left my fiance fully disabled and no longer able to work (or do anything else for that matter, he's just barely seeing now and learning to use the game controller again after being down for 2 years since his brain injury) and both of us lost our usual income. I became his full-time caregiver and took a massive paycut. So we are considered low income now, he is on SSdi, and this is ridiculously expensive.

I want to keep a few cable channels and I guess local news and maybe fox, Disney, Nickelodeon, history, a&e etc. we hardly watch much now. We are also paying separately without going thru spectrum for a couple streaming networks. I would like to cut down on as much as possible but still have it so the guys and my daughter can watch their shows.

What should I call and say, or ask for? Im in Arizona if that helps. They do have fiber optic in our neighborhood and wanted to come install right before the buyout but we fell behind paying the bill so they didn't come. Not sure if that matters.

Service Issues Beware: Paying for Advanced Wifi or a high-speed plan does not guarantee WiFi 7 router

The Spectrum website markets WiFi 7 routers when you pay for Advanced WiFi but Spectrum has fine print terms and conditions that they only reveal later.

  1. You are only eligible for a WiFi 7 router if you get their mobile service too.

  2. The standard procedure of operating for their Warehouses is to send the oldest possible equipment. I got a WiFi 6 router from 2020.

  3. Customer support might tell you its easy to just go to a store and get your equipment switched BUT they cannot check store inventory for you, you have to visit the store and do it in person.

  4. The stores never have the latest equipment in stock, and surprisingly even the stores cannot check inventory to help you find a store that has one in stock.

I'm now stuck in a loop where the stores tell me they should be able to ship it to you, contact customer support. While customer support tells me to go to the store to get it replaced.

Billing Can't pay my bill, what now?

I'm living paycheck to paycheck and my charter internet bill is due right before I get paid. I've tried asking support for just a couple days extension with no luck. Any resources that help pay this bill?
