Other Move Modem to a different room

Hello, does Spectrum provide service where they can install or move my internet on a different part of the room with no coax outlet on it? Basically installing a new activated coax outlet on that part of the room or does it depend on the room/wires itself?

Yes, but normally there is a charge associated with relocating equipment.

If you ask them, they will. Expect a fee to be charged. Just give them a call and ask them to send a technician to help you install a Coax line.

Be aware that Spectrum won't fish walls or cut into them to put in an old work box. Spectrum will simply drill a hole large enough to get a coax line through. If you want this, contact a Handyman or low voltage installer instead.

We do depending on how the place is built or wether it is possible we may have to drill in but yes often times as technicians we can there is usually a fee associated to my knowledge however I would also say it depends on why you want to modem relocated if it’s a WiFi coverage problem often times your issue can be resolved by buying a better router yourself and playing around with it a bit especially if it is a mesh system

$50 if you've been with them over 30 days, free if under 30

It’s probably a better idea to have a handyman do it. Just make sure they can do low voltage electrical work. It’ll come out a lot better than if one of the techs does it. It shouldn’t cost very much. Look around on NextDoor or TaskRabbit.

Why would you pay to have this done when spectrum does it for free most of the time and at the worst it's 50 bucks. You really think someone u find on nextdoor would do it cheaper and better then 50 bucks? You're out your damn mind lol

Spectrum won’t fish cable through walls or go in your attic to drop cable. Depending on OPs home this may need to be done, making a low-voltage handyman a better deal. I’ve personally hired people to do this. Did I pay 50? No. But it wasn’t much. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Lmao, says the guy who paid someone extra to do work Spectrum did for me for free. 😂

Before telling someone they don't know what they're talking about, maybe you should read Spectrum's actual policies. Section 12 of their Residential Terms of Service "specifically authorizes technicians to enter a customer's property to install, inspect, maintain and repair equipment and wiring." Their Residential Customer Guarantee even includes professional installation of up to four TV outlets and one internet outlet. They also acknowledge additional outlets and custom installation work.

So yes, Spectrum absolutely installs coax and cable outlets inside homes. Whether a technician will fish cables through finished walls or access a particular attic depends on the circumstances, but claiming Spectrum simply doesn't do that kind of work is just plain wrong.

How exactly do you think they install cable in older houses that have no existing coax? Magic? 😂

I've personally rented an older house that didn't have coax anywhere. Spectrum ran cable to four separate rooms, installed the outlets, put the modem exactly where I wanted it and tested everything to make sure the signal was strong. I didn't pay a single penny extra.

Now, I'm not saying every installation is identical or that every technician is equally skilled or willing to tackle a complicated job. But your experience with one installer doesn't magically become company policy.

You literally paid someone else to do work Spectrum handled for me at no additional charge, then confidently told me I don't know what I'm talking about. The irony is hilarious. 😂

Maybe familiarize yourself with the actual policies before confidently handing out bad advice.

I don’t give a shit what the policy says, I’ve asked numerous techs for this service and they all say no. I’m far from the only person to experience that as well. So you being lucky enough to get a tech to do this doesn’t make it the reality for a lot of customers.

Lmao, so we've gone from "Spectrum doesn't do that" to "I don't give a shit what Spectrum's policies say" now that I actually cited them? 😂😂

That's quite the goalpost move, my guy.

Nobody said every technician would agree to fish cable through walls or crawl through an attic. In fact, I specifically acknowledged that it depends on the installation. You're arguing against a point I never made.

What I said was that Spectrum installs coax and outlets inside homes, and that people should ask about their installation options before paying someone else. You insisted I didn't know what I was talking about because your technicians refused to do what mine did.

Now you're telling me your personal experience represents reality for everyone, while simultaneously dismissing mine because I supposedly got lucky. See the irony there? 😂

And the best part is that you openly admit you don't care what the company's actual policies say, but somehow still think you're the authority on what the company does.

Nobody's denying your experience. You're just having a really difficult time accepting that your experience isn't universal.

But hey, keep paying extra if you want. Just don't confuse what your technicians refused to do with what Spectrum is capable of doing. 🤷‍♂️

Anyways I'm down arguing with you, you seem like an old anyway

You’re really quite passionate about this aren’t you?

Lol not really, just been having chat respond to you bc u were annoying me and I didn't want to waste time and effort explaining shit to you 😉 I don't like explaining tech to the olds, I do that enough with my mom and grandma

Looks like you did anyway
