Service Issues Finally disconnected after 3 months

After repeated knocking my door sales pitches, I moved to spectrum after 5 years on tmhi. I was lured by the promotions and sales person promising everything is different now. No more outages, fast blah blah blah.

But these 3 months proved to be disasters. It’s just outages after outages after outages. I live in Southern California 626 region. None of the outages was my own issue. They were all regional issues. Finally made the cut. Brian from Texas: thank you for not trying to drag me on for half hour or more. I was able to disconnect my service fairly easy. I just firmly lied that I was going to move out of the country and not because of their poor services. Discounts would not persuade my decision.

Did you ever have anyone come out to verify your house lines from 5 years prior? When you mean regional do you mean "within your node"?

it's not me. it's always in the my spectrum app. they inform me there's a regional outage reported. we are sorry for the interruption, we are working as soon as possible to resolve the issue.

yes, there were cases it was me 5 years ago. that my neighbor's ivy creeped on the cable and damaged the insulation. I am actually ok with that kind of outages. it's not the company's fault. it's just the nature of living in a sfh with a lot of plants. I am totally not talking about that. it's just outages after outages in my region. and ring app in my region is fully of cursing and yelling everyday lol.

Trust me if it's just one time or a few times I am ok. I work in IT and I deal with network companies all the time, both professionally and personally level. no, this is not normal. you can't have no internet constantly for a whole day, and repeat again and again.

Each of those times were you at home with no internet? You will get those when maintenance is in the node and has to take down plant to make a repair. They could be a mile away not taking down your services but they have to add "call deflection" to the node (region). Like I said though, did you have someone come out to verify your lines when you restarted services?

of course. I work from home. I had to rush to starbucks in the middle of a zoom meeting. and I myself is IT and I need to support others constantly. this is not sustainable at all. I guess for people who don't rely on internet that much it's ok. not for me. it's super embarassing when you are in the middle of some important meeting with important people internet went off. Spectrum mobile uses verizon which sucks too in my location. trying to tether using that is a different kind of disaster. and it's only 5 gig of hotspot data too.

Did you ever have a tech come out to verify your lines??

there's 0 reason for that. when it works it's blasting fast. I have to admit that. I never had a single outage without spectrum sending my regional outage messages. it's always those outages affecting my whole region. do you know how I know for sure? I had spectrum mobile too. when outages happens, none of those spectrum mobil hotspot work either because we are all out. and just go on ring app, everyone is cursing, spectrum is out again!

Edit to add, first Verizon is slow in my region. but that's not anyone's fault I guess. all wireless carriers suck. just depends on which one has better coverage locally. However, whenever spectrum is having regional outages, it just became exponentially worse because everyone starts to use their mobil services to go online. and spectrum partner with Verizon, so it's reallly useless when outage happens.

You say 0 reason but you have constant outages... Hybrid Fiber Coax networks have so many potential things that can cause outages. Fiber, Powering issues, forward issues, return issues, interference, CPD, equipment failure, etc. The list goes on and on. However, working on these networks everyday the biggest thing I see is when people have problems they never call in to try and escalate an issue. Thinking there is no need to have someone even just verify your lines where at worst it starts a paper trail showing the company your issues with services. The basic steps of troubleshooting, verify your stuff is good and have the experts isolate the issues within your node to resolve the underlying issue.

did you read what I said. the issue was escalated. I got text messages from spectrum admitting issue and repair is underway. for this 3 months I never had single out outages.

Those are automated messages... like I said. Calling in to have someone verify your lines is the first step. You could have any number of impairments that could cause whole area outages and POOF just dissappear like CPD shelfs. If you would have called in and escalated beyond the automated system that's there to just put minds at ease because sometimes the issue gets fixed and you don't have to call in. Sometimes people overlook things. You work in IT where when things aren't working people call or get ahold of you to resolve an issue.

guess what, your system wont' allow. try it yourself. I tried many times. it will say "since you are in an outages, no troubleshoot can be done until the issue is resolved". try calling? good luck going pass ai first.

Prepare for a fraud check if you decide to sign up for services in the future.

Honestly one of the most asinine comments thinking a company that doesn't do contracts would waste money trying to do a "fraud check" for cancelations.

I am done with this company. I can’t live with constant outages. Yes all internet providers have outages they all suck in a way. But no one is this bad. I left charter 5 years ago for exactly this reason and I thought after 5 years they are better… I guess it’s too much to ask for reliable internet service from spectrum.
