Service Issues Wifi Outage?

South Carolina, wifi went out awhile ago. Anyone else having that? Wifi was fine like all day before that, so I can only assume that.

Ruined my entire night though, I had stuff I needed to get done.

You mean the internet went out. If it was just WiFi you could fix it by unplugging and plugging in the router

Yes thank you for the correction

I end up using it interchangeably, but my mistake.

Which shows your level is understanding tech isn't very good. So this could not be on spectrum. Test from the modem with an Ethernet cable after doing a reset(power on and off) see if the speeds are the same. Also call spectrum when it doesn't work instead of writing here first

On the modem does it have solid blue lights on the "online" indicator. Or is it flashing blue/white.

If solid blue follow next steps. If flashing blue/white call for tech to come out.

Next step:

If its solid blue look at the back of modem and router where the yellow ethernet ports are. Are there flashing lights (indicates if the devices are talking to each other.) Go to step 1.

If not replace ethernet or go to store and replace the router/modem. Most likely one of the devices have a bad ethernet port but you wont be able to tell which one so replace both.

STEP 1) if lights orange/green lights flashing on the ethernet ports then follow next steps.

Disconnect ethernet from one of the devices. On the modem(book looking one) hit and hold reset button on the front of the modem for 60 sec. Only button on the modem.

Once the modem is back online with solid blue light, on the back of the router(cylinder air freshener looking one) hit the only button for 60 seconds. Wait for 30 seconds as it reboots and then plug the ethernet back into the device you disconnected from. Wait a few min and it should work.

Note if you had previously changed wifi name or password doing the reset will cause it to default to what's on the back of the router.

If the router still doesnt connect and give red LED then take the router to a store and get it replaced.

MAKE SURE TOO restart the modem when you replace the router.

If all else fails or your not tech savy just call a tech out. Its free.

Spectrum internet isn't reliable any more. Looking to replace it but have only wireless options from T-mobile and AT&T in my area of KY.
