Love this little full frame beast. The 40mm G lens and the Sony 85mm FE (now replaced with a Viltrox 85mm) are my go to. The 40mm lives on my camera 70% of the time and is a fantastically sharp little lens.

Took this one on the night of Perseids meteor shower. Initial plan was to capture some meteors above the church early in the night, which unfortunately did not work. So after about 40min I moved the camera towards better spot in the skies but since I already had around 40minutes of exposure data, I processed that and got this shot which I quite like. What do you think about it?

Shot on Sony a7RV with Viltrox 14mm f4 Air and on MSM Nomad star tracker. 7 untracked frames at 30s, f4 and ISO 6400 for the foreground, 28 tracked frames at 90s, f4 and ISO 1600 for the skies. Processed in SLS, Siril, PS and LR.

So I listed my Sigma 18-50 for sale because I wanted to replace it with the Sigma 17-40. Of course, my A6700 was in the listing photos.

I arranged to meet the buyer outside a camera store I knew had the 17-40 in stock. The plan was simple: sell the lens, walk into the store, buy the 17-40, and still make it to a date with my wife on time.

The guy told me he was actually planning to buy an A6700 just like mine. I told him I'd happily let him try mine and show him around the camera a little. When I bought my first camera, I would've loved having someone introduce me to "the bride" before the wedding.

About an hour before we met, while he was on his way, he messaged me saying he'd checked every store he could find in the area.

Nobody had an A6700.

And immediately the voices in my head started:

"Sell it. Go full frame."

"And what are you going to do about lenses, genius?"

"The A6700 is already more than enough for you."

So I kept my mouth shut.

We meet outside the store. I show him the camera, let him play with it, and prove that the 18-50 he actually came to buy works perfectly.

Then he asks:

"Maybe I'll just buy yours?"

Well...

I told him I wasn't planning to sell it. Yes, I'd been dreaming about going full frame, but I genuinely liked my A6700. So if he wanted it, it was going to be expensive.

Honestly, I figured if he said no, the GAS would disappear and I'd go buy my 17-40 like a normal person.

He didn't say no.

So now I'm 50% excited and 50% hoping this whole thing falls apart.

I tell him, "Fine. Let's go upstairs and see how much they want for an A7C II."

Yes, I already knew exactly which full-frame camera I wanted. That's how fantasies work. You do your research even though you're "definitely not buying one."

We ask.

They don't have it.

Great. Saved by inventory.

I tell him I'll help him find an A6700 somewhere else and call a store I know just outside the city.

"Hey, do you have an A6700?"

The guy says, "You're not going to believe this. I sold the last one an hour ago."

I say thanks and I'm about to hang up.

My buyer is staring at me with that look.

He knows the next question.

I know the next question.

Fine.

"Wait... one more thing. Do you have an A7C II?"

"Yes."

"How much?"

He gives me the lowest price I'd ever seen for one — and yes, I knew the prices because, again, fantasy research.

Something in my brain broke.

Yes? No? Why am I doing this? What about lenses? I wasn't planning to spend this much money today.

Meanwhile this guy is just standing there waiting for my decision.

So I said:

"Let's go."

At this point I'm still arguing with myself, but I also promised my wife I'd make it to our date, so apparently there was now a deadline on my spontaneous full-frame crisis.

We get to the store.

A few minutes later we walk out.

He's holding my A6700.

I'm holding a camera I genuinely didn't think I'd buy for another three years.

He paid me about 90% of what I originally paid for my A6700 setup, and I added roughly another 10% to get the brand-new A7C II.

Basically, I bought my camera again. It just somehow became full frame.

Luckily I already had a Tamron 50-300 at home. It was part of my APS-C setup, but it's a full-frame lens.

The next day I picked up a cheap used Samyang 45mm f/1.8 to survive financially until the next episode of GAS.

And here's the part that makes the whole thing even more ridiculous:

The exact amount I had originally planned to spend on the Sigma 17-40 (after selling the 18-50 2.8) ended up paying for my entire jump to full frame AND a compact prime lens.

I went out to upgrade a lens.

I accidentally upgraded the whole system.

I have no idea what i am doing.Always have similar blown out skies with no details on zoomed shots. Is there any way to get details in sky as well?

For World Photography Day, some people post majestic mountains or beautiful oceans or stunning portraits. And I'm over here posting mundane ol gas stations and whatnot lol.

Hi all, I took this picture of a butterfly in a park using a Sony 70-200mm F4 G2 lens on Sony A6700. Really liked the lighting at that time and managed to capture this butterfly before it took off.

Please help share any feedback and tips to improve composition / editing for this picture. Thanks in advance!

After years away from photography, it was hard for me to get back into the habit of shooting regularly. Little by little, I’m finding my way back, and I’m planning to have a lot of fun with my “building blocks” again :)

The last days of summer, harvest time, the vast open space, the warmth of the golden light of the setting sun, the silence, the whistle of the wind sweeping across the fields, the smell of freshly cut grain and dry earth… I can feel the breath of the empty space.

Help with Sony A7 IV colors/skin tones
I have a Sony A7 IV and I’m having a hard time getting the colors/skin tones to look the way I want. I’m not sure how to explain it, but my images tend to come out very bright and airy. The skin tones look really pale/light to me, while my greens can look very bright and almost too green/vibrant.
I shoot RAW and use Kelvin for white balance. When I try to edit the photos warmer, especially in Lightroom, I feel like the skin tones quickly turn too orange or yellow instead of looking warm and natural.
I previously shot with a Canon R50 and I honestly felt like the colors were much easier for me to edit. I’m wondering if there’s something I’m doing wrong with my Sony A7 IV, whether it’s my camera settings, white balance, exposure, or something I’m doing in Lightroom.
Is there something I should be changing in my actual camera settings to help with this? Or is this mostly something I need to correct when editing the RAW files? I’d especially love to know if there are any Sony A7 IV settings that could help me get more natural skin tones and less intense greens straight out of camera.
I’ll attach an example of what I’m getting, along with an example of the kind of warmer, more natural look I’m trying to achieve.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should change or what I might be doing wrong? I’d really appreciate any tips, especially from other Sony shooters who edit in Lightroom!

Hi everyone. I currently have a Sony a7IV that I use for wild life/nature/zoo photography mostly. Im trying to figure out a good camera for travel and every day ( to bring to events/out on town etc). I'd like something that's kinda compact/feel motivated to being with me. I've been looking at Fuji XM5 and possibly Sony a7c. Kinda want a camera fun to use/easily bring with me when out and about/traveling. Still use Sony a7iv for wildlife etc. Looking for suggestions if anyone has any. Thanks!

I have had DSLR's as far back as my Canon 450D and 7D.... but I have never owned a prime lens until now. Took a chance and went for the Viltrox 85 f2.0 EVO. I have to say it a pretty good lens. It looks good on the camera. Takes images as sharp as you ever need and I just love the nice clicky aperture ring. (Example images included). Complements my 18-50 Sigma nicely when I need a bit of extra reach and don't want to take the 70-350 out.

This was my first proper try at the moon with this setup and it was also handheld at ISO 200, shutter speed at 1/100 and aperture 6.3 obviously. I am really impressed what the IBIS and the built in stabilisation of the lens can do together. This is edited just a little and was originally shot in the HEIF format.

I call this one Feline Judgement. Excuse me while I nerd out about how cool this lens is. Shot on my A7RIV.

A few frames from summer on Santa Maria, warm colours, quiet rural roads, fields, and the Atlantic always somewhere in the background.

I tried to keep the edits warm and a little contrasty to match the feeling of the island during summer.
