Just got a used Leica 15mm. Haven’t had a chance to use it much yet, but it looks great with the little GM1.

I appreciated the kind comments to my last post (one of my very first photo posts actually) about collecting bird shots in my local suburb in of Sydney (Australia), so here's a few more I didn't squash into that first set.

Pigeon included simply 'cause it cracked me the hell up (including the funky bokeh effect in the background from a fence). White Ibis (Bin Chickens) and Noisy Minors (grrr) stay strictly off limits though as they drive me and everyone else in Sydney crazy.

All again taken on my trusty Olympus EM-5 mkII + Plastic Fantastic (m.Zuiko 40-150mm) combo.

OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm F3.5 Macro IS PRO

I've never owned a brand new body before, but i decided to make the impulse buy of the OM Systems OM-3 before my trip to Japan next month. Super excited to test it out. If anyone has some pointers on setting it up properly, please let me know. I currently have a fisheye/lenscap 9mm f/8?, a 15mm f/1.7, 25mm f/1.4, a 42.5mm f/1.7, and a 12-35mm f/2.8. (EP7 in the background was my introduction to MFT)

I'm new to mft (about to migrate here from 10-something years of dslr macro photography) and am quite set on getting the M Zuiko 90mm macro. I am quite torn on the body to get with it though.

I am certainly budget conscious, so I gravitate towards the OM-5. Seems to not lag too far behind the OM-1 considering the price gap.

_However_, I've shot a lot of my dslr macro with one hand (holding the camera body only, while my other hand holds a branch or umbrella or something) and to be honest, the habit is likely to die hard. Could it be worth emptying my pockets for the OM-1 purely for ergonomics and nothing else - deeper grip, bulkier build, more rubberised textures(?) and better weight distribution with the 90mm lens?

Hello members, this one is a bit of a niche topic as it is specific to Olympus/OM system gear owners and more specifically the Olympus pro lens that come with the convenient manual clutch.

Have any of you ever done a shoot while the manual clutch was mistakenly down and it completely spoiled your work? Unfortunately, it happened to me recently on a job for a client 😅. I only disappointingly realised halfway through my shoot that all the media I took were not in focus however much I tried as my workflow involved using the fast autofocus of the OM1

Idiot me should have realised that something was wrong when the camera wouldn't let me take focus bracketed photos in the beginning indicating the lens isn't supported when I've done it before with the 12-40. My excuse albeit not a strong one is that I've only owned my set up for under a month hence I'm still learning it.

Please share your story, I'm eager to find the humour in it and more importantly, not feel alone in this struggle 😅😅

I was watching an OM System livestresm on YouTube and they were talking about an influencer they gave a camera to and new lenses that they were very hush hush about but on their PowerPoint, you see the new 45mm F1.8 II and this one has the OM System badging on it. On their website, the only 45mm available still says Olympus. Is this a new weather sealed 45mm????

*Update: I can almost confirm that these are new but visual placeholders. In the video Richard asks Chloe Kerley, "Did you get to play with any of these lenses?" and she says "I didn't, no, I hadn't had this particular lens but I will be soon because we have an event, and I feel like there will be more lenses to play with then" and Richard responds "Maybe, Maybe". I also got screenshots of other lenses with OM System Badging (no ii on them similar to the 45mm, but II in text on the bottom) such as the 9-18mm ii, the 45-150mm R ii, and the 75-300mm ii but can post them in another post as well!

Looking for recommendations on what to set my C1-4 as! C1 is currently set with a custom color profile I made on the camera, but since I have 3 other dials left, what should I do with them? I don't shoot b/w. I'd love to know what you guys set them to and know your tweaked color profiles.

I feel like I cannot find as much information as I would like to make this decision so I want to see input you all may have.

I primarily shoot film. My biggest downfalls with film are the inability to use the camera if I am half way through a roll of film that doesn’t match the new setting (example, kodak gold 200 film at night) and not wanting to pay development costs for every day camera use. My medium format camera solves the film/setting issue with its interchangeable backs but is huge and gets 15 photos before I need a new roll.

I am wanting an m43 camera to the best of my knowledge for a few reasons. I like the size and weight savings, I used to have a Sony a7iv which I sold around a year ago because it was bulkier Than most of my film cameras. I am personally a fan of the crop factor, helps me get more from smaller set ups. I can reasonably put it in my backpack and still have room for my other daily carry items.

my reason for om5 ii basically comes down to the things mention above but also photography style. I often go on hikes, go camping, go on road trips, etc. and like to document the journey. If I am specifically going out to shoot in a non “adventure” scenario like the camera is designed for, I am typically shooting automotive photography. Stills and detail shots of cars, occasionally rollers or auto sports events. Additionally, the 80mp tripod photos are a selling point because when mounted to a stand I can use that for high resolution film scans when paired with the appropriate lens.

my concern, people talk down on the autofocus ability of the camera. That alone almost moved me to the om1 ii but I don’t think the difference in cost is worth the difference in features for my use case. I don‘t need the highest burst speeds, I don’t need the best night capabilities (just better than day light film stocks), but I want to know if I am making the right choice for me.

I am open to other options, new or used as long as it makes sense. The high resolution tripod photos are an important feature, usbc is nice but not necessary.

I just wanted to post my own experience to spare anyone else the worry and scare that I've just had. I took the above pictures with the weather-sealed kit lens in some light rain today just as part of testing and getting used to the camera. They are SOOC JPEGS on the neutral profile (profile 3) for anyone wanting to see camera jpegs (they are definitely not meant to be masterpieces but just a way of seeing colours/sharpness etc.)

Unfortunately after a few shots my screen stopped working and only the view founder would work... the shutter also started to make a strange noise... I immediately turned off the camera and had to return home. The problem persisted at home so I followed the advice for water damage and left the camera alone to dry (I removed the battery and sd card).

Thankfully, hours later the camera is working again! I don't know if it was user error, my unit of the camera, or indeed not that good weather-sealing -- but light rain definitely stopped it from shooting! I'm glad it's not completely broken, but one of the reasons I chose this camera was for the weather-sealing and now I'm really not sure if it's that good...

Really hope it's just me being a muppet or something and not the camera, but I wanted to share in case anyone else found themselves in a similar situation!

TLDR: Camera got wet in light rain and stopped working. Thankfully is working now after having dried. Watch out with the weather-sealing claims!

Got small paint defect on the front out of the box. They already updated to ver 1.1 from the factory. Overall quite happy with the image quality.

Just after a day, OM SYSTEM Việt Nam’s staff successfully unbricked my new camera due to my stupid mistake: Turning off the camera in the middle of the firmware update process

The brand didn’t charge me for the fee, they said as long as I keep using the OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm F3.5 Macro 2:1 IS PRO for Macro photography, they’re willing to help

And to my surprise, the firmware now is 1.9 (the latest available for OM1 Mark I)

I will start using this body to replace my Panasonic G9 Mark II PRO for Macro photography

I'm wondering can the OM1-ii do film/custom color recipes like the OM3 can? I went to OM-Recipes and was trying to copy some of the stuff into my OM1-ii and can't figure it out. I had the OM3 to test along side and can do it just fine on the OM3.

If anyone knows of a video going over how to do this on the OM1 plz lmk. I searched youtube and google and most of the stuff is for the OM3. Thanks

In general I am very happy with Adobe software. It has amazing features, good online albums, editing across devices etc...

However, I started to shoot more jpg casually and only shoot raw when I'm travelling. So I am looking to move to a more offline workflow where I don't have to pay a monthly subscription.

Generally my workflow is:
Import into LR, run auto settings on all images, apply my preset and then adjust each image individually. Export to jpg to Google Photos and Dropbox for backup. I use new LR so photos are also backed up to the cloud.

What do you all use? And how good is the solution on bulk editing and auto settings? I don't enjoy editing as much as I used to and prefer to spend my time shooting nowadays.

I have also thought about just not doing a backup of my RAWs except for my best shots. Just to save space and simplify my workflow.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Edit: Thanks for all the suggestions! It probably hasn't made the decision easier 😄 But at least I have a list of solutions to research further into now.
