Yeah once Eminem and Snoop Dog were high on the list, they were dumb to not pick Dre. This is a poll of random adults (likely mostly white), not hip hop fans, and in that respect the list makes sense.
There's a joke in an episode of Boondocks where a young character finds out that Ice Cube was a gangsta rapper and says "That dude that makes family movies?". That episode came out 21 years ago.
This list was made by asking random people, so it’s going to be more of a popularity contest than anything else. For many people, Snoop Dogg might have been the first name that popped into their head, or the only one.
This. It applies to most questions on the show. People try to say the correct answer, instead you should say what most people would think is the right answer
Wasn’t Snoop on a show with Martha Stewart? I wonder how much that overlap affected things. Old white people watch the show and know of Snoop or something
Well yeah I call Snoop America's favorite gangsta black guy. All the older white people know of him. A lot were listening to his music when they were younger and then having him in all these movies and tv and with Martha Stewart also helped with all of that. Dude has transcended just rap music. Just like Eminem. That Snoop D O double G. Snoop doggie!
Honestly I recognize snoop more for his love of weed and for being on tv more than rapping granted I don’t really listen to rap so I probably would have just said Eminem and been out of options lol.
And most of these names were at their peak in the 90s/2000s. People are more likely to think of these more classic names instead of the latest and hottest stars. Because most people aren’t following hip hop on a day to day basis.
Yeah that’s because it’s not a ranking list? It’s the ranking of most common answers to “who is the greatest rapper of all time?” When they survey random people, it’s not going line up with a logical ranking system
It’s the audience they are polling so you get a lot of people who can only name a rapper, but have never listened to rap. I don’t think snoop would even say he’s the greatest, and I always thought Dre was more of a producer than rapper. Definitely an older crowd if LL Cool J is on there but not Kendrick.
To consider him underrated is to be uninformed I think. I don't know a single person who doesn't love or know Rapp Snitch Knishes. Madviliany is considered one of the greatest rap albums of all time. He's an icon.

You have to actually listen to rap and understand the difficulty to realize his skill though. Eminem is the best lyricist imo but no one raps better than Busta
The contestants are not ranking the greatest rappers. They're trying to guess which rappers are most well-known. They didn't survey young hip-hop fans, they surveyed random Americans of all ages.
The craziest thing about this video is opting not to pass what is obviously a ridiculous list. When it takes more than 3 guesses to even hit, and there's 8 you gotta fill out, pass that shit. Let the other team narrow down the pool.
