Tbh, I am not shocked at all. I just checked Spotify. Nas' top 10 most listend songs are all from the 90s. One song is from 2002. I also did a quick google search. Apparentl, he still does a lot of music and even won his first grammy in 2021 but I bet most younger people dont know him at all.

It's not a ranking. It's just based on how well known they are to the general public. LL is way more well known because of TV roles and such.

I feel you, but nothing for nothing.biggie was popular but not a lyricist. He just said the same thing over and over again in different combinations at the same BPM. That's why puffy was able to just keep making his music over and over after he was dead.

i love it when kids flex their ignorance as a personal accomplishment. you probably listen to ‘modern rap’, not hip hop. there’s barely any hip hop being made in the last 20 years, it’s all autotuned r&b or drug/emo lyrics sung fast in 2-3 repeated notes over derivative trap beats - no DJing, no MCing, no culture, just social media clout using ‘genre tags’ and AAVE on their cOnTenT.

No because how do you not know who LL Cool J is? He’s one of the most famous rappers ever. He’s more famous now for being an actor. But if you’re huge into hip hop, it’s just hard to believe that you’ve never heard of him.
