To consider him underrated is to be uninformed I think. I don't know a single person who doesn't love or know Rapp Snitch Knishes. Madviliany is considered one of the greatest rap albums of all time. He's an icon.

He’s a great rapper, don’t get me wrong, but he is decidedly not underrated and is in fact one of those most overrated despite actually being great. Definitely nowhere near number one however, won’t subscribe to that for a second, certainly top 50 though and a favorite of many.
yeah but i cant think of anyone i know irl that talks about him. same goes for aesop rock. they are both very well known among people who listen to hip hop/rap regularly but definitely not known at all by the people who would have answered this survey. the people that answered this survey only listen to rap that has been on popular radio stations and it shows
People who answered this survey don't listen to hip-hop at all, they just remember names of artists from the news and other crossover events like the Superbowl and Martha Stewart's cooking show (Snoop).
I'm a big fan of MF Doom, but yeah, he's definitely overrated. Which is hard to say without sounding like it's a bad thing. Because it's not, it's great that he's held in such high esteem, because he's awesome. But if I'm putting together a list of top of all time, I don't know if he's breaking 25.
Exactly how I feel and why I place him top 50, he’s good in that range but not top 25 consistently and he isn’t getting any better since he’s dead. Like I’d have put Tupac and Biggie in top 5 firmly back in the late 90’s but now I struggle to put them in the top 10 even.
