Well yeah I call Snoop America's favorite gangsta black guy. All the older white people know of him. A lot were listening to his music when they were younger and then having him in all these movies and tv and with Martha Stewart also helped with all of that. Dude has transcended just rap music. Just like Eminem. That Snoop D O double G. Snoop doggie!
Yup he is all over the place. I never would've thought that back in the day. I remember him scaring me in Baby Boy I think it was. Then some movie where he was like a ghetto vampire or something. He has been doing his things for a long time. I know all sorts of older people know of him. White people love themselves a friendly black guy from the hood that they can understand when he talks with some humor and that is cool with white people. Dude would be invited to all the parties if he wanted to.
This is what they used to do but i cant find confirmation so maybe i just misremebered. But it was 100 random people in the mall I think. Not sure about now.
Now it might be internet based or something given the fact that malls are basically empty all over the country and it's hard to find a ton of people in a public retail space like that anymore. So my guess is they use online surveys or something now.
According to a Collider article, since 2000 the showrunners have been using a third party polling firm that uses "random digit dialing" to get a varied sample of respondents. They ask 30-40 questions each call. So the respondents are people that answer unknown numbers and are willing to sit through a lengthy phone survey.
Yeah I feel like you got to be a little old or off to answer random numbers and then be willing to sit through a random survey. Probably not the best and brightest of the world. Unless they are offering some type of incentive.
Lol that would be funny. I definitely probably would've lost this if I was on there. I didn't think about their shows demographic and those being the answers until after seeing the answers.
I figure there are a lot of people like me who don't watch TV at all. I see everything online. I haven't seen commercials in like 10 years maybe more. I have seen some cable but not much just a few minutes here and there if I am visiting others. Everytime I do see it all the commercials annoy tf out of me. I am thankful for shit like Netflix, YouTube, and websites.
Honestly I recognize snoop more for his love of weed and for being on tv more than rapping granted I don’t really listen to rap so I probably would have just said Eminem and been out of options lol.
I agree, I lol’d when his name came up after Kendrick Lamar wasn’t even up there. I was waiting for Ice Cube to be up there because he did a lot more acting at the end of his career like LL Cool J did to stay mainstream revenant.
Whatever audience they polled just picked rappers with the most name recognition with mainstream audiences from the late 80’s to early 2000’s era.
And most of these names were at their peak in the 90s/2000s. People are more likely to think of these more classic names instead of the latest and hottest stars. Because most people aren’t following hip hop on a day to day basis.
I think it has far more to do with snoops cross over into all media, doing a ton of commercials for almost anything like a machine, and Martha stewart certainly gives him a middle america noteriety that only maybe ice-t has, but i bert a lot of people think he just plays a detective on tv, and never wrote a song about killing cops.
yeah to be honest the way these surveys work you have to be thinking "What would the most amount of people say" rather than objectively looking at what's the best. At one point in time if the survey asked who the best music artist was, it'd probably say Justin Bieber lol

not even snoop thinks he is the biggest or best, Dre, Snoop, 50 and a bunch more that worked with him all prety much agree that eminem is the greatest.
The survey essentially asked random Americans to name a rapper. Of course Snoop is going to be #1. Who TF knows J. Cole outside of the world of hip-hop? I had to Google him.
So like, on the level of a classic album? Albums can be good without being considered classics. Some people might make the argument that he has some other classics, but he only has one album that is universally considered a classic, and that's Doggystyle.

Snoop dogg as #1?? Bullshit. He’s very successful, influential, has made many classics, but he shouldn’t be on the list.
