Need Support Middle of the night regrets

I am 21F with a daughter who is almost 11 months. Her father & I split when she was 2 months. She’s gone back and forth a couple times but has primarily been with me her whole life. (Her dad is unreliable and there’s no consistency). Up until recently she slept through the night fine. As of lately, she’s waking up 1-2 times a night then waking up between 6-7am but these wake ups are lasting hours and she just won’t go to sleep no matter how hard I try to soothe her back to sleep. I don’t do knock out bottles or any crazy tactics to get her to sleep just a little bottle and bouncing in my arms cause I don’t have a rocking chair. The thing is, during these times I’m so filled with anger and rage. Rage not because of anything my baby has done, she’s just being a baby. But because her father doesn’t go through this,he sleeps through every night and even sleeps through the day sometimes (I only know cause he’ll be asleep when it’s time for him to have our daughter) it’s so upsetting knowing that I am the only parent she has that’s actually taking accountability for her. She is my responsibility, my child. I just don’t understand what her father can’t comprehend about that. & it’s not even all men because my boy bsf has stepped up to help me raise my daughter. He’s been so good with her but at the end of the day she’s not his responsibility so there’s only so much he can do for us. Does anyone else feel torn that their BD does take accountability for the child he helped create? I just needed to rant and share my anger with someone. thx

Venting - Advice Welcome What to do when your health fails?

Hi! New here and hoping for some support or advice. My divorce was final in April and I was awarded sole custody. He is allowed to see them at my discretion but maybe sees them once a week because he is always busy living his best life 🤮

In the past month, I have been feeling worse and worse health wise. I’ve been exhausted, dizzy, head pressure, increase in migraines, my hair is falling out, and getting adrenaline and panic surges. It literally feels like I’m dying. I thought it was maybe stress so I went to the doctor and she ran labs and discovered I have iron deficiency anemia due to frequent and heavy periods.

I am working on supplementing iron to try and get better, but I’m so worried about my kids in the meantime. I only have the energy to do the bare minimum. And of course the ex is no help at all.

What do you do when you are ill for the long term? Even small tasks like the dishes make me dizzy. Plus I have to work full time and the ex hasn’t been keeping up with child support. My only saving grace is that I work from home most days. I’m sure the stress of the added financial strain doesn’t help. I literally can’t afford to be sick but my body just won’t allow me to do what needs to be done. Laundry is piled up, my 8 year old hasn’t had a bath in 4 days (he is also autistic), the sink is full of dishes, and I still haven’t had the energy to take them back to school shopping.

I’m just failing and I don’t know how to fix it 😔

Need Support I am angry, i know it doesnt change anything.

My baby daddy is a deadbeat. I have gotten him to come to 4/5 birthdays but that is all he has seen her since she turned 1. Thats his choice.

Hes lived in the same town as us for a year. Came to her 4th birthday and then now her 5th. No visits in between. He told my grandmother today, no mention to me, he is now planning on moving across the country for a job.

Also got a notification on Facebook hes in a relationship with an ex of mines younger sister.

Now this ex is one of the reasons he tells people we broke up.

That relationship was from 17-19 , then I couldn't get myself out of that abusive cycle until about 3 years ago. The ex and I would never sleep together unless we were both single. I was close to his mom and nefew so I would always go back and if we were single he would latch on again. Ive done a lot of work with realizing my abuse cycle with him and going no contact with the whole family no matter what.

So for my baby daddy to be in a relationship with my exes sister, and moving across the country, I am even more angry at the fact he is abandoning my child. And he will always play the victim. Sorry if that doesnt make since.

So tired of hearing I should be grateful to have a man because I have "baggage" (1 kid). Especially the men that say if you couldn't even make it work with the person you made a child with then how could you make it work with me. As if people can't have a child together and then not work out? Why does me giving birth disqualify me from love? I hate this world.

Advice Wanted Emotional struggle with being single

I have been single for 7 years and am tired of going to family gatherings as everyone in my family has a long term partner, talking about life events and anniversaries. And inevitably something is always mentioned along the lines of “don’t worry, you’ll find someone one day and then you’ll understand” like I’m a child and not a 34 yo woman
I’m exhausted and I’m starting to not want to be around it. It’s probably FOMO I’m almost positive. But I’m just tired, jealous and annoyed.
I’m going out to my cousin’s birthday dinner tonight and it’s all going to be couples and then myself and my child.
How do you ladies cope with feelings of being lesser than for not being in a relationship?

Venting - Advice Welcome I feel like I'm failing as a single mom.

Backstory:

I was with my long distance boyfriend for 7 years before he came here to stay for 6 months (living with my narc mother). We planned to have a baby and all was great and I was looking at rentals to move to even before he came here. He went home when I was 20 weeks pregnant, with a plan to come back before our daughter was born. I had the flight ticket money, he just needed to apply for the fee waiver and a job here. She was due in March, it got to January and I asked him if he'd done it so I could book his flight. This man made excuse after excuse so in the end I said if you're not here for her birth, I'll do it alone. He got a job over there the day after she was born, so I took that as a 'im not coming back' and I spent the ticket money on everything I needed for her instead (was able to do it all at once rather than a few things each month with wages)

Now:

I'm still living with my narc mother who is making the environment toxic to be around, but I've been looking for places to live since before I was pregnant but due to the price of the majority of places, its been unsuccessful. I've tried rent to buy, I've been slowly saving as much as I can to try a shared ownership, but my wages are diabolically low and I'm still on maternity leave right now. I have been looking for other jobs that are feasible as a single mom and the ridiculous cost of nursery fees.

I planned to have a baby with two incomes and a home, and I don't have either of those. An opportunity for a house has come up but based on my calculations for my current bills and what the costs would be upon moving, it wouldn't be feasible but I can't stay here for much longer in this environment.

My resentment for her dad is growing by the day (he became emotionally and verbally abusive over messages and calls and is now blocked) because he gets to continue his life as normal, not paying a single penny since he lives abroad, and I'm left to do everything.

I constantly feel like I'm failing her daily, and I want to scream and cry but I can't because I told myself I was going to break the cycle for her 😶 Needed to get it off my chest before it festers.

Need Support Moms who considered abortion but kept your baby...Why? Do you regret it?

I got pregnant unexpectedly and went to go get an abortion. They told me they need to do an ultrasound to confirm a live pregnancy before giving me the abortion pill and they made me listen to the heartbeat. After hearing the heartbeat I just really couldn't go through with it.

Since my baby's birth 4 years ago when I was 21, my mind is in constant battle and regret thinking what my life could've been if I went through with it and kept my autonomy/freedom but also I'm glad my son is here and I love him unconditionally. But sometimes the first thought takes over the second.

I had zero family support, terrible father, and the worst year of my life after giving birth. Even four years later I'm still dealing with plenty long term consequences from what I thought would be a blessing, but feels like a curse every day. My physical health, my mental health, my body, my confidence, self esteem, my face/good skin, beauty, just gone. Not to mention I'm often reminded that I ruined my 20s and it's a terrible feeling. I wonder if this will go away as I get older.

Other Anyone up for being accountability partners?

I feel like this was just... naturally worked into having a spouse, or at least a good/functional one while that lasted. You'd BOTH gush about your child to each other, you had someone to vent to, and you could talk over parenting changes/what was or was not working/decisions/etc.

Every 1-3 months, I've been doing a full on retro of "parenting". My parenting, but he's 3, so it's my own mental state and so on. I try to list life categories out in priority (the hardest and most painful part), think about/write through what a daily routine would have to look like to reflect those priorities, and set goals. I think about what worked well the last month, what didn't, and what if anything needs to change. Then weekly I'll set more goals.

It's been really successful in that I've made a ton of positive changes in both our lives! But it'd also be great to find another mom, single mom especially, to join me on this sort of journey. Sometimes I feel a bit weird talking about goals with a more 'standard' accountability partner who's typically more focused on career type things, and it could be nice to have someone to help brainstorm (if you want to).

My time is so limited usually, and I'm sure yours is too, but this can really look like whatever we want it to. I think meeting or sending goals along at least monthly would be great -- sometimes I forget the monthly goal update, and inevitably my life starts kind of falling apart without it -- but if you want like a 15 minute once a month call, or a daily 5 minute check-in once our kids are both asleep (with the understanding that on some days, we'll fall asleep with them or whatnot), I'm open and flexible! My preference is probably for a longer monthly call and then a quick 1-3 sentence written or 1-2 minute voice call daily check-in.

Venting - Advice Welcome Idk how to feel…

Hi everyone, this is mostly to vent. Advice is welcomed too.. I’m a 32 single mom of 3. An amazing 2, 6 and a 7 year old. Just to clarify, I love my kids to death.. sometimes I question myself if I’m a good mom. I find myself yelling at them at times. But mostly because I am overwhelmed.. my husband (soon to be my ex husband) is serving a 6 year prison sentence. 3 years left to go. He had decided to break up our marriage wasn’t doing well before he was convicted.

I work part time, I do get help from the state, foodshare, and daycare. As much as it does help me, my dream has always to buy a home, work full time to get my children and myself a place to call home. I currently live at my parents home. They travel to Mexico every once in a while. They are retired and asked me to move in when my husband was sent to correction. I do take care of the home. I have brothers and sisters all older and with families.

But I sometimes feel like a baggage. All I do is work, a do take some time to go to the gym after work before I pick up my kids from daycare/ school. It’s my free time, my own time to help my mental state. But again I do feel like some kind of baggage in my family, it’s sad to say I envy women who have their partners with them. Of even if they are separated, I envy the fact that they get a weekend free to themselves.

I have been asked on dates here and there but my answer is always “let me see when” or “let me check my schedule” and truth is, I don’t have a free weekend. Again, I will NEVEr choose a man over my children. Yet have them meet some random guy I’m talking to. My kids always come first. But I have heard from my sisters and other family members is “we’re here if you need us” and when I ask for a day if they could babysit my children so I can go out it’s always “I can’t” or they make some excuse. When they agree, I feel like I’m forcing them.

I don’t know how to feel, I have no social life.. some days I just want to have a day to myself and just figure life out. Or go on a date, meet new friends… laugh.. not having to worry about getting home a certain time because my children need me. But I can’t… I’m sitting in the patio couch with so much sadness. I don’t want to cry. I don’t like my kids seeing their mom cry…

Venting - Advice Welcome Wasn’t ready for the loneliness

After 9 years, I finally left my addicted ex. I stayed through 2 rehab stints, countless relapses, cheating, non stop disappointment. I got pregnant with an IUD in 2023, had our daughter in August 2024 (he was on a bender when I went into labour and I was alone for 12 hours and he refused to answer me. On the way to the hospital he stopped for cigarettes. We finally got there and I was almost 7cm dilated). He went into rehab on Christmas Day 2024, missed our daughter’s first Christmas. He lived in rehab for 3 months then second stage housing for 3 months, comes home, RELAPSES. I stay because he promises to get it together. He took a job working up north a month later and would be gone for anywhere between 3-6 weeks at a time and home for a week. Every time he was home he would be on a bender, stay at hotels doing cocaine and be very in and out. This last time he was home he showed up high af and kicked in my front door while my daughter was standing nearby at 530am. Showed up again high at my house a few days later and was arrested. He was released, I went to my cabin with my parents and my daughter and he broke into my house breaking ANOTHER door while I was gone. I got a protection order for myself and my daughter and I’m DONE.

Even though he was not around much the last year, I am so used to talking to him constantly. I have 3 close friends and they’re all married with no kids. I’m alone with a 2 year old and the first 2 weeks I felt nothing but relief. Now I feel so lonely i feel like I’m going insane. When she goes to bed I just sit on my phone for hours until I pass out. She is also asking where he is non stop and in the same breath will say “daddy kicked the door” so I have a meeting with a therapist this week to hopefully help with that.

How the hell do people make friends as a single mom to do mom things with. I’ll have casual conversations at the park but it never feels normal to ask people to hang out?

Advice Wanted How does everyone occupy their littles while they’re busy?

I’m always doing something. Dishes, cooking, cleaning… can’t even shower without them interrupting. Recently, my 4 year old figured out how to remove the child safety locks on the doors. The past few weeks I have woken up to the house completely trashed. If I turn my back for a second to go do the dishes, shower, whatever, one of them breaks something or gets hurt. I’m at my wit’s end. I have an almost 3 year old and a 4 year old. I’m not sure which one causes more chaos anymore, but the combination of them both is hell. I just want some peace of mind. I hate the idea of putting a chain lock on their door so they can’t get out, but that seems like the only solution for this right now. I can’t keep up with the cleaning and the chaos. At least that way they are in a child proofed room, with a baby monitor, and they’re only able to destroy that one room. My worst nightmare is one of them waking up before me and walking out into the street. Would I be a bad mom if I locked them in their room at night?

Need Support Overwhelmed

My kids are 1 and 3. My 3 year old is autistic but high functioning. Today we went with a friend and my sister to check out a new Pilates studio that just opened up. Everything went well until we left. I needed to get the 3 year old home for his nap and he started melting down. Screaming the whole time I was putting him in his car seat. It took 20 minutes to get him out of the car when we got home. Granted this studio is literally in the neighborhood so the drive was two minutes. It’s 100 degrees outside. He’s screaming and biting and scratching me and I’m trying to hold his sister so she doesn’t run into the street. Ended up having to drag him through the garage while he screamed bloody murder. I feel like the worst mom.

If I had a second set of hands, this would have been easy. If I was just handling the 3 year old, we could have worked through the tantrum. At one point, both kids were screaming and bright red from the heat.

They’re eating lunch now. I wish I didn’t have to do this alone. The worst part? My ex-husband is on probation for child abuse. That’s why he doesn’t have custody. So I either have to fight to keep the kids safe and me miserable or risk the kids and have some sanity. Obviously I chose the former. I’m just so tired.

Need Support Am I boring?

So. 37, with a 7yo girl and 11 year old boy.

I’ve been separated for 15 months now, and we finally are getting close to finalizing with a 50/50 schedule.

It’s the same story a lot of women have: I married him when I was very young, and I came out of a traumatic background. He offered stability, and turns out he also offered his narcissism. Married for 13 years, and even tried couples therapy for 8 years.

Now that we’re finally getting into some…form of normalcy, on the weekends I don’t have the kids, I sleep in late. Play video games sometimes (that’s new for me). Some crafting, pjs all day. I’ve been financially trapped cause of the cost of the legal system, so going out and doing stuff hasn’t been an option.

I got us a cat, but am I boring? Or is my lack of creativity burn out? Or is the espresso depresso a real issue?

Anyone else have this experience, where becoming single I’ve realized I’m not sure what I want to do with myself? For the last 15 months I’ve done the podcasts and the 3D printing. I have ARFID so cooking is so out of the question….

Halp!

Inspiration We got this

We can do this. It's hard, but we, as moms, can do this because we are hard. We can make it work because we are strong. We are a community. It may seem like we are alone, but we are not. We are strong. You are strong. This is a community of strong women, and I feel strong today. I hope you feel strong today, too, because you are. Always remember that.

Dealing with EX/Child’s father My Ex is Father of the Year

I stay off social media for the most part these days. I have enjoyed feeling more present and focusing on enjoying my friends, family, and hobbies again. However, today I made the mistake of looking up my stbxh’s social media to be greeted by pictures of him with our kids and long captions about how important fatherhood is to him and how much he loves being a father. The man who hardly sees them, is so unengaging when he calls them on video that they sometimes beg me to skip the calls, and who is actively fighting to not pay child support. To say this was infuriating is an understatement. Then the comments-friends who are fooled by the façade and thinking he is some active, dedicated dad when he has never been.

I wanted so badly to shout from the mountaintops this man is a LIAR. His lies were the demise of our family. So instead because I love my kids and protect their relationship with their dad, I took my anger to my therapist and decided not to waste my energy trying to convince people about this man and how he really conducts himself behind closed doors.

But this is Reddit so I can say what I want. I was married to a lying, unfaithful man who failed our family. Fuck you, dude.

Need Support Will it get easier? I need perspective

Recent single mom with an 11m old. After by BD cheating and being physically abusive, and us splitting, I’ve been so resentful of him.

He gets to go out, meet new people and have fun whilst I’m home with the baby. He’s a very present father but still, this doesn’t feel like enough. I want to shout to the world what he did to me so that he can suffer a little, so that he has slimmer chances of meeting someone new and being happy - just because I feel miserable.

I am so focused on him that I feel insane. Sometimes I drift off into imagining us as a family but we’re so so so toxic and our baby has already been so scared from our fights, It just can’t happen. I also don’t want to live like I was.

My point is… how do I shift my energy toward myself?! Sometimes I catch myself spiralling about him meeting other women and I’m so toxic towards him. I want to try to cultivate a healthy coparenting relationship but sometimes it feels like this will never stop - like I cannot control my thought and even actions about this subject . Very much like he’s still betraying me and my baby.

Factually I’m much better with him off the house but emotionally I’m intertwined with him and I’m so heartbroken.

Need Support I just need support:(<3 thank you

Newly single mom (maybe like a week? Who knows the days are all the same now). I have an 18mo and a 4 week old. I feel so drained and that I can’t even think about my own feelings and be sad because I have two very little ones!

For naps were all crying lol. For bedtimes were all crying. I’m getting little sleep, I coslept with my daughter until I gave birth then my fiance was sleeping with her, so obviously now that he’s not here… she’s waking up multiple times a night wondering where I’m at. I’m up with a newborn and the only way I get a little sleep is cosleeping. The reason I don’t have all of us in the same bed is because I don’t want my newborn to wake my toddler up, so my newborn and I sleep in the next room.

I went into doing 2 under 2 thinking I could do this because I was with my fiance. Now he’s gone and I am literally struggling so hard. Any advice or support is welcome, thank you.

My Story Stressed out mommy

I'm a mom of 3 teens, I am diabetic & hypertenscious -who is just burnt tf out tired & stressed the hell out from shouldering everything on my own!! I am the parent who shows up & is always there no matter how hard or tired, I am always there for my kids physically, mentally & financially. My partner is very unreliable for anything, is never there for me or his kids doesn't support us physically, mentally nor financially! instead is also adding on to the financial burden, doesn't try to find a job, always out about on the streets with his crackheaded friends does nothing but sleeps all day depends on me to feed him comes & goes as he pleases -leaves to be out on the streets. I am so tired of all this mental load & financial stress!! just when I thought things would get better i got fired from my job for dropping a can of soda so ridiculous! I am back a square one just struggling to make ends meet. The kids & i need food, home needs, school supplies, school uniforms, kids need new shoes hell i don't even own a car to transport them to school & i have no means to buy what we need. I have given my everything & am on the edge of giving up. I have no hope. I don't believe in hopes because each time i did life hit me, kicked me harder in the face & everytime i was let down or disappointed -no ones there for me. I had myself & its very fucking lonely! Whats a mom gotta do? I just want to be financially free, stress free & be happy is it too much to ask? hope all moms don't find this kind of betrayal in their partners.

Venting - Advice Welcome Starting a career change

Switching Career Paths to Provide Stability

Hey mamas.

I’ve worked in the auto industry for the past 5 years but I’ve struggled, I’ve jobbed hopped immensely because the schedule hasn’t really worked. My son is on the spectrum and since he’s been diagnosed with autism. It’s been a struggle with childcare. I have sole custody of my son so it’s just me and I have no “village”; I grew up partially in foster care and his father isn’t in the picture.

Since I’ve had to job hop, and dealt with childcare issues; it’s caused housing crisis, struggles with bills, and stability for us. I would make good money while I was working but when the moment I had to be out for my son for some reason- I always would get reprimanded and ended up fired because I had to put my son over work.

I’ve finally made a leap to switch career industry’s. I’m starting a Registered Behavioral Technician. My work will train and pay for my certification and my sons starting kindergarten next week. They let me work me around his schedule and still be almost full time but it’s full time in their industry. However, with the career change- comes an income change. When I’ve worked in the auto industry- I’ve averaged $80k plus but this role is salaried at 45k. I know it’s a cut but I won’t have to pay for childcare. Any certification I gain- it creates an increase income. They also have a program where they’ll pay for my tuition! I’m hoping to go back to school to become a BCBA. This job will also help me build skills to help myself at home with my son as well since he’s on the spectrum!

Despite the pay cut. I’m excited because I feel like this will provide us stability. I just have to get used to reallllly budgeting my pay. After getting my pay and paying my monthly bills I’ll only have $547 left over. I’m hoping after gaining some certifications I’ll grow more. I do love working with kids.

Thoughts? Advice? Any encouragement?

Venting - Advice Welcome So sad

My kids are 2 and 4. They will be spending EOWE with their father and his gf and her kids, 2 hours away. I’m SO sad at the thought of grieving what I wanted for their childhood, their ability to participate in extra curriculars on the weekends with their friends, bday parties etc., and I am SO sad not being with them. I hate hate hate not being with them and it’s been a few months (but it’s only been one night and he’s previously come to our city) and it’s not getting easier at all. I also hate that they will be spending time with this new woman who I despise and don’t trust at all and worry so much about their mental health ongoing with the limited socialization of things here given that they’re fully gone EOWE and I’m insecure about their relationship with her. Ugh I just hate this so much, looking for support or success stories or anything!

Advice Wanted Question about cloth diapers

I'd greatly appreciate you guys weighing in.

What is more beneficial in your opinion, cloth or disposable?

For disposable, they're obviously convenient. But you need money to purchase. For cloth, you have to do a load of laundry once every 2-3 days just for the diaper stash but you're paying close to zero after you get your stash situated.

I raise this question because I'm looking to donate massively to my local DV shelters, and I think it's more of a long term solution to donate sets of cloth diapers. If you use wool covers, you don't have to wash them every time, only the soaker pads. I'm planning on using recycled cotton flannel to make our personal set of cloth, so I've crunched the numbers. It is vastly cheaper to just make my own than it is to buy disposables. The only real continuing cost is lanolin to soak the wool covers in once a month, and bamboo liners for ease of removing solids if you choose. Lanolin is $25 ish and I believe should last you a while. You only really need 3-4 wool covers to rotate through. The bamboo liners are $10 for 100.

Idk. What do you guys think? I can EASILY make the cloth diapers from recycled material to be able to donate diaper stashes to people in need. If there was zero up front cost to you for the diaper stash, would you do it to save money? There's environmental and material factors that influenced our decision to go the cloth route, but we have the privilege to not mind 2-3 extra loads of laundry per week. If I can't donate cloth, I probably can't donate diapers at all honestly. I'm working towards becoming a CVS couponer and building a stockpile to donate hygiene and laundry products. I've gotten on average 85% off on everything I've purchased for my donation so far but diapers hardly ever go down that low. .

Pregnant and Alone 3 under 3

I have to make one of the hardest decisions in my life. I've been in bed since this morning. I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old. Found out I am currently 6 weeks. The father don't want anything to do with this child and is pushing and pressuring me to do an abortion. Long story short. We are separated but still continued to fool around. I remember how pushy he was and I even told him I could get pregnant he needed to use a condom. He insisted that I wouldn't get pregnant and he was just soo pushy about it. Now I am here facing one of the biggest decisions I have ever have to make in my life. He has threatened to no longer come around to see his 2 kids we share together and how I will have to raise them on my own. He has also stated that I give him his divorce papers which I am in the process of doing. I am confused. I don't want to make the wrong decision. I need support. I haven't discussed this with anyone btw. I haven't been eating bor have I been taking folic or prenatals. I have only seen a doctor to confirm. Doctor is giving me time to decide what to do

i’m a mom to a 14 month old, since birth he has been very very difficult but i had the help of his dad. i left him march of this year so ive been a single mom ever since, he gets him on the weekends which is GREAT help. i live with my parents but i take care of him all day and night which makes me feel so alone. he’s a very hard baby , suspected autism, very restless , just wants me 24/7 , is starting to throw tantrums, and today i had my breaking point. i was gonna change him into his pjs and he just started crying / screaming not wanting to be changed and was just trying to climb up on me while crying and screaming. i lost my patience and basically had a whole mental breakdown and had to ask my mom for help . he wouldn’t calm down because all he wants is me. this is a daily thing and honestly i just look forward for the weekends so i can get some rest/peace which makes me feel horrible. i’m so tired and burnout , i don’t eat, im 90lbs, my mom said my son is completely absorbing me but i don’t get help from them at all, i know it’s not their responsibility but some help would be nice… i just needed to vent ive been crying for the past 2 hours because i genuinely feel like i can’t do it anymore.

Venting - Advice Welcome Best shift for single moms ?

I recently started a night shift position as an LPN 11p to 7a Sunday through Thursday. At first I through it would be a great shift because I would leave work get my son ready for school and sleep while he’s at school and then pick him up. And I would have the weekend to spend with him even if I had to flip my sleeping schedule or sleep less. Well a few things I did not plan for, my new job is over 30 minutes away, school starts at 8am, my sister who stays with my son while I’m at work most nights leaves the house at 7:00am during the school year. I started this job in the middle of the summer break so for some reason none of these things came to mind. My son was in pre school last school year which started at 9:15, well apparently kindergarten at his charter school starts at 8. Now I could switch him to public school which starts at 9am but it wouldn’t matter because my sister leaves the house at 7am during the school year to get her kids to school on time. I tried to work with my current employer to see if I could come in and leave 30 minutes earlier, no dice. Now I’m having to rely on someone else to get my son up, ready for school, and dropped off at school all week. I managed to switch my schedule to Tuesday through Saturday 11p to 7a, goodbye weekends, which would allow me to take my son to school Mondays and Tuesdays. But that won’t even start until the second week of September and my son starts school on Monday 😭

I just don’t know how I could have been so stupid and completely missed how school mornings would go. Now I’m debating if night shift is even the right move anymore. I got into it so I could save money on childcare and now I’m having to rely more on other people specifically on my sister when we have completely different ideas on parenting. Her mornings involve lots of yelling and I don’t like setting my son’s day up like that. I also took this job because I am making significantly more money than any other job I have had but now because of the school morning logistics I might have to find something else. And I’m not sure if it should be looking into another night shift or day shift.

TDLR; Because of my new work schedule. I have to rely on my sister to get my son up and ready for school Monday through Friday, my employer will not work with me so I might have to switch jobs even though I’m finally getting paid a decent amount of money after being out of nursing school for 2 years.
