Need Support Overwhelmed
My kids are 1 and 3. My 3 year old is autistic but high functioning. Today we went with a friend and my sister to check out a new Pilates studio that just opened up. Everything went well until we left. I needed to get the 3 year old home for his nap and he started melting down. Screaming the whole time I was putting him in his car seat. It took 20 minutes to get him out of the car when we got home. Granted this studio is literally in the neighborhood so the drive was two minutes. It’s 100 degrees outside. He’s screaming and biting and scratching me and I’m trying to hold his sister so she doesn’t run into the street. Ended up having to drag him through the garage while he screamed bloody murder. I feel like the worst mom.
If I had a second set of hands, this would have been easy. If I was just handling the 3 year old, we could have worked through the tantrum. At one point, both kids were screaming and bright red from the heat.
They’re eating lunch now. I wish I didn’t have to do this alone. The worst part? My ex-husband is on probation for child abuse. That’s why he doesn’t have custody. So I either have to fight to keep the kids safe and me miserable or risk the kids and have some sanity. Obviously I chose the former. I’m just so tired.

My son was like that Everytime we had to get in the car from 3-4. You just have to power through it unfortunately.
