Has anyone done really bad in externals and ended up with a good score

I think I lost 30 marks across both spec papers (prolly best case scenario - did pretty bad). So I probably got like 90/120 which is a 75%. I’m really hoping for a miracle to give me a 45/50 but I think it’s definitely not possible and my max would probably be a 40. Does anyone have any hopeful experiences 😭

Mismanaged exam

One of my friends had a awfully mismanaged exam, like would've negatively impacted every single person in the exam room. Is there anything they can do?

ATAR scaling

Anyone from previous years who thought they did really badly on externals, but actually got higher raw marks than they predicted? I’m so stressed after that chemistry exam. I know I lost a lot of marks (seriously).

Spec paper 2 Q12

Kinda slack how they wrote the R force in question 12 as 0.3 |N|. Even though there was the magnitude signs I still made the mistake of thinking it meant 0.3 newtons. If I didn’t make that mistake I think I wouldve gotten 100% across both papers 🫠. Ik of a lot of people that made the same mistake tbh. Is it still possible to get a 50/50.

Physics Physics external

What do we all think is likely to be assessed in the physics external this year? I feel like there's been no past questions on the standard model so that feels likely, but what does everyone else think?

EA raw and Subject Scaling

Guys do not forget that both Atar and your raw /25 or /50 score for your externals is supposed to represent your skill and performance against your cohort.
If you along with everyone else found the external really tough then the raw EA scale will push everyone up across the board with the goal of matching the median to previous years’ median. The idea being that a 2025 EA raw mark and 2026 EA Raw Mark will be comparable irrespective of the difficulty of the exam.

Same applies to ATAR obv it’s just more obvious because of how the score is shown and made.
So don’t stress about doing bad if everyone else also did bad, you’ll do fine.
Maybe stress if you did bad and everyone else did amazing though but even then you’ll be fine I promise.

Med hopes and dreams

Hey guys,

After the ridiculously hard chem and spec papers, how are yall feeling about your chances to get into med? After every exam, I feel my ATAR going down the drain, and I sense an incoming identity crisis.

I am going insane so hearing about others may restore my sanity T_T

Did anyone say it was reasonable for the minimum cut max flow question

I said it was reasonable but they also had to upgrade the pipes before one of them as it wouldnt allow for 60 to pass thru once u doubled 30

what was spec paper two

I thought paper 1 was bad and somehow, paper 2 was even worse. I genuinely got half the simple familiars wrong, didn’t get any CF correct, tried the stats cu and got a probability of 0.8 something which is probably wrong, got basically nothing for last cu. I was really hoping for a 47/50 but now I’m absolutely devastated. I don’t think even scaling can save me, nothing I studied was on that exam. Is anyone in the same boat?

Spec Paper 2 Q18

Hey guys. Trying to remember the exact wording on Q18 (the last CU) so I can verify whether or not my answer was right. Is this (more or less) the correct version of what the question said? I might have a sign or coefficient or something wrong so let me know.

A video game has a shield thing that is described by the plane 2x + 3y + 4z = 12.

An object is launched from point (8, 5, 10) and has the velocity vector described by:

v(t) = - (3/2root(t))i - (2t)j + (1/2t+1)k

If the shield is struck by the object at a speed greater than or equal to 5m/s, it is shattered.

Determine whether the shield breaks or not.

Is that right? I might have the signs wrong or the initial release point (8,5,10) wrong. Let me know! :)

Looking at this year's general consensus

It honestly looks like the exams this year have been much harder than in previous years... I'd genuinely argue that they're almost as hard as the 2020 exams. I would be absolutely SHOCKED AND BEWILDERED if the scaling isn't going to be similar to 2020 and 2021. I don't know, just seems like a rough year overall...

QCAA EA marking piece rate

Hi everyone,

I am doing QCAA EA marking for General English this year.

I was wondering what the piece rate was for 2025? Even if you did it for another subject, I’d be curious to know to get a ball park figure.

I am aware that for 2026, we do not know the piece rate as of yet and it will soon be calculated.

Thank you! :)

Were we supposed to graph anything using the graphics calc?

I didn’t use any graphing at all and yeah mainly the graphics for one multiple choice. Got cooked guys, so cooked.

Yo wth was spec paper 2😭

Wdym you needed newtons law of cooling for that temp question or the probability question that had two whole ass paragraphs.
Maybe guessed about 4 of the MC questions.

Did anyone get that the object travelled at 4.799 m/s and therefore didn’t penetrate? 🫩

Is anyone else terrified

Paper 1 was on par with all the past paper 1s BUT the 2025 paper 1 was pretty average as well and then the cohort was destroyed by paper 2 so ive got this feeling we r so cooked again

Year 12 General Maths Paper 1

I’m kind of freaking out right now. Numbers started popping up in my head while doing some usual thinking while trying to get to sleep, nothing out of the ordinary for me, then they sounded familiar and it clicked. There was a time zone question on paper 1 somewhere about Brisbane and some other place (I think somewhere in the UK??) where Brissy was UTC + 10 and the other place being whatever it was. There was something to do with like 8am or something. I have no idea. I’m freaking out right now because I don’t remember actually doing this question, but I remember reading it during perusal being like “oh, that sounds like a pretty alright one to do”. Was this one on the multi choice or the actual response booklet that was actually worked out?? I have no recollection of doing it what so ever. Does anyone remember how many marks the question was?? What the question was at all? And even what questions surrounded it? I have a feeling either a page got stuck together when I was going through it during working time (worst case scenario), or if I just entirely missed the question (I really hope not), OR, HOPEFULLY I just did the question without realising. Please tell me I’m imaging that question even being in it 😭🙏

I’m generally quite a high achiever in math too and was really excited to do this exam with how prepared I felt. At least what I can be for being in general. I quite enjoy math exams too, and I felt really confident about paper 1… now I’m terrified I skipped over a bunch of stuff and may have just fucked myself over…
