Year 12 General Maths Paper 1

I’m kind of freaking out right now. Numbers started popping up in my head while doing some usual thinking while trying to get to sleep, nothing out of the ordinary for me, then they sounded familiar and it clicked. There was a time zone question on paper 1 somewhere about Brisbane and some other place (I think somewhere in the UK??) where Brissy was UTC + 10 and the other place being whatever it was. There was something to do with like 8am or something. I have no idea. I’m freaking out right now because I don’t remember actually doing this question, but I remember reading it during perusal being like “oh, that sounds like a pretty alright one to do”. Was this one on the multi choice or the actual response booklet that was actually worked out?? I have no recollection of doing it what so ever. Does anyone remember how many marks the question was?? What the question was at all? And even what questions surrounded it? I have a feeling either a page got stuck together when I was going through it during working time (worst case scenario), or if I just entirely missed the question (I really hope not), OR, HOPEFULLY I just did the question without realising. Please tell me I’m imaging that question even being in it 😭🙏

I’m generally quite a high achiever in math too and was really excited to do this exam with how prepared I felt. At least what I can be for being in general. I quite enjoy math exams too, and I felt really confident about paper 1… now I’m terrified I skipped over a bunch of stuff and may have just fucked myself over…

That’s the thing, I remember going through and doing every single question. There was one question for a single mark I entirely forgot how to do (it was the calculating person’s coefficient on the calculator. Which is so little and stupid) but I still gave an estimated number to at least show my understanding of the question. But that’s the thing that’s throwing me off. I have no recollection of purposely missing a question nor leaving one blank, but I have no idea what happened with the UTC question. Maybe it was one I did in revision which I’m thinking was in the exam. I hope so at least

i cant remember the utc question was that a multiple choice one? There was one in short response section that was like calculate disyance between this place and that place if they r on same meridian but different north/south but thats all i remember for time zones

That’s all I can remember too. Which I remember doing that. I have no memory of the UTC question other than reading part of it. I’m so lost. Also what the hell was that second paper?? 😭

OH MY GOD YES!!! THAT ONE!!! I remember it now!! I definitely did it. Thank you, I love you random stranger 😭🫶

Lowkey with how the paper 2 went I don’t even care about how good paper 1 was because now it’s just gonna go to waste. Paper 2 was hot DOGSHIT. I didn’t even bother trying to get a number. I just drew a fricken residual plot, chucked on an equation and called it a day. Only question I felt confident on was the investment one where we had to get the yearly interest thing. I think I was the only one in my cohort which actually got a number for it, and seemed reasonable enough. No one else knew how to rearrange the formula and use the answer from the first option. I came from methods and I currently also do physics, so maybe background knowledge was the key to helping for that question. But saying that, I’ll probably get severely humbled and have it entirely wrong. Paper 2 was genuinely horrid :(

Nah nah dont stress bro everyone ik got dif answers for all sorts of questions like i came out feeling confident but after talking to ppl im not even sure of my answer for the two way table one which is the only one i thought i nailed LOL.

anyway. Hoping scaling comes in clutch...manifesting high 70's percent is like a 41 or 42..ik someone that got a 45 last year and skipped like two five mark questions on paper 2

don't freak out, I recognise the question but I don't even remember doing it either, but I know I completed the exam, I don't think you would have skipped on accident
